- Part of the old Alconbury airbase site now being turned into new town ship .lot new housing has factories have been built here now also a brand new school small cabin shop with loads of building going no and stripping up of the old runway.

used for the ww2 practice and stay into army training area to this day ,We was only just on about this today when we was down that way ish

Been in the Air Force 23 years myself. Love seeing the old runway and base.
Loads of parts we could not get to but will be going back some point to see if can get the old A10 hangers and the magic mountain .underground nuke bunker

God it's changed so much. I was there from. 89-91. We lived in the town of Alconbury itself which looking on Google maps has absolutely exploded and is nothing like the little hamlet it was. My father was the 511th TFS squadron commander at the time. The "Vultures" were the A-10 squadron from Alconbury that went over to the desert. So many great memories of my time there and all the love and hospitality you all gave my family.
I remember well all kit going out from there to 1st gulf war . even see the U2 go in and blackbird and remember the bloodhound missiles on edge of the airfield .thats if you used the bloodhound or you're version . thank for you're history there always good to hear . plan going back soon and cover lot old technical site airside .show people the new town there now .

Oh wow a SR-71 Blackbird flew from here and a U2 as well that is really cool thanks for the tour
Lots of mission were flown from here for kosovo and gulf wars and others
I worked there for a short while in the mid 70's definitely changed a lot ! I think the SR 71 flew out of Mildenhall.

Was a old very massive USAF base in UK but most of base sold off and shut down this is whats replacing it

They are building a lot of houses now and many places are changing. How nice of you to show us where the base used to be.
We was trying to get to other parts old base to show like the nuke bunkers and aircraft hangers bomb store and alike but all ways blocked .as you see most of it has been knocked down and built on .Thank you very much

My father served there in 1944 and 1945 and was shipped out to Italy for mop-up.

I was stationed there 1980 to 1984. It was a great base. I lived in a little town called St Ives. The road that i lived on was Hill Rise.
In Peterborough back then we got used to having them fly over and around the wash .had few friends when kid from there . Did you ever go to the wayward frog bar in Peterborough lots U.S serving personal went there
@@AbandonedCityCamoCrewExplorers No I didn't get to that pub but I really liked Petaborough. I dated a girl that lived in Corby. She was a really sweet girl. Lost contact when I left England went to Germany, then Iraq started. Most of the pubs that we went to were in Huntington. I really loved the people there. I would really like to come back before I get to old.
