    Really nice of you to actually share the spot you've explored. Not a lot of people do that, I for one really appreciate it and will be checking it out with my family. Thanks again!

      Glad I could help….. it’s more of my winter spot……. It’s not a spot I’d stay for long in the summer but it gives you a good base camp to explore and find your own great spots. There are so many in this area. Enjoy and like you mentioned let’s leave them cleaner then we find them 😄👌

    Nice job, needed that camping fix. I’ve never considered winter camping with a trailer. Except maybe to head south, and that’s not an option this year. You are a true Canadian going camping in December !

    Going to be heading up this way in my Ranger at the end of July! Have this location and a few others of yours pinned on my map. Were there many other locations nearby you saw in your exploring that would have made for good camp spots? Cheers and thanks for the videos!

      Honestly the whole area is covered in campsites The one in the video is a bit close to the road it’s kind of more my winter camping spot…. but it will get you up there so you can start to explore…. Teapot lake road has some nice spots also.

    Heya, great videos. Do you know of any easy to get too spots that don't require 4X4. Just a regular car without risk of getting stuck in mud etc that is a good crownland spot in the summer near a lake in Ontario?

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  2 роки тому

      There are a few but I’d say summer is tough it’s going to be busy unless to can get to where it’s a bit more difficult. This spot here is close to the road….. give you a spot to start exploring from.

      I think it’s a great way to get out and enjoy. Many just use an air mattress in their cars to sleep in. It doesn’t have to be to complicated. Keep it simple and just enjoy being outside 😄👌

  • @EverydayDIYguy
    @EverydayDIYguy 2 роки тому

    What the chances I can get a 17ft camper to this location in January ? Thinking about going next week. I have a half ton 4WD pickup towing it. Are the trails rough? How well are the branches cut back?

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  2 роки тому

      Depends how determined you are 😁
      The road itself is good but it’s pure ice when I was there. Maybe just in case bring along some chains and you should ok. The spot is right beside the logging road so your not venturing to far into the bush. I’d recommend going in on the weekend so your not playing chicken with the logging trucks.

      Tons of good places up there... and lots of trails. Just up from that campsite is another nice spot.... off to the right kind of tucked away in the bush. Nice little spot if your looking for more privacy. 👍

    Just too let everyone know you are not allowed too drive on the ski-do trails. Yes it’s crown land but your trespassing if your on the ski-do trail. Not only is it illegal it’s very dangerous. Have fun and stay safe.

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  3 роки тому

      That’s a very good point. Those trail passes aren’t cheap and they have a limited time to use them. Definitely want to stay off those groomed trails! If I’m going out in the winter I like to look for active logging roads.

    Can you give me the specs on your truck and trailer? I've got a '94 Ranger with RWD 2.3L. Trying to figure out what size/weight trailer I could tow.

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  2 роки тому

      Yeah sure… it’s a 2002 4x4 with a 4.0sohc with a 5speed. I’d not push it much over 2000lbs with a ranger… also make sure it has good brakes. I’m currently trying to figure out a way to squeeze more power out of my engine also…. Love the truck but it struggles a bit.

      Good crown land spots are like GOLD mines, usually kept secret. I don’t share many but I do have a few spots on my website…. They are not super great but It’s a good place to start and then start exploring from there. Finding your own secret spots.

    how are the roads during winter to get to that site?

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  Рік тому

      It really depends. If they are logging up that area it’s no problem to get to. If not it’s tough. I have 4 wheel drive and locked front and rear and it’s still a crawl. But up around that area there are some great roads that are plowed. I’d suggest trying in spring and then exploring map out your spots on google maps then your set for next time!

    I am looking for crown land around the durham region area, I can't figure out the atlas website for crown land. Are you aware of any crown land within an hour of oshawa? And how do you know its crown land when your there?

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  3 роки тому

      The best way is the crown land atlas. If you search on UA-cam you will find some great videos discussing how it works. Personally I’m not aware of any around that area, sorry.

    • @nickpharand
      @nickpharand 8 місяців тому

      No from the lake Erie area. But am looking at taking the wife and 2 children to crown land camping instead of provincial camping. I understand why you're not posting areas anymore. Read your comments of people leaving garbage. That's disgusting. Take back what you bring in. But following your channel. Great videos.

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  8 місяців тому

      Sorry just saw this message now. Ya we find its really hard to go back to provincial park type camping after doing crown land. I know at first it may seem intimidating but there are tons of places to camp, so much crown land when you get a bit north. Part of the adventure is finding these beautiful places. Unfortunately some don’t show the respect these spots deserve, we try to pick up the garbage where we can….. I am planning on doing a video soon on how I go about finding sites. I appreciate your comments.

    Its like an unwritten rule NOT to share locations on crown land. There are legit reasons why we keep things hush on those terms.
    You are absolutely entitled to share.... just not the norm, and for good reason.

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  3 роки тому +7

      Thank you for sharing your opinion. Here’s my reasons for providing some locations.
      1) I think the whole point of UA-cam is sharing information with ones who are trying to learn. On here you can find information on how to fix your car rather then taking it to a mechanic, or fix your house, trailer, etc it’s a place to share information.
      2) All the major channels on outdoor camping give there locations out. But only to their Patrons, ones who pay them money. The only difference is I’m doing it for free. If I charge for them is that better?
      3) I think the locations I give will hopefully help someone to get out of their house, city and enjoy the great outdoors. If a location gives them a little more confidence to do it then great.
      4) Maybe I could just make a quick comment regards an assumption I keep hearing, that ones coming from the cities are wrecking these places. Personally That is completely opposite to what I’ve seen. Granola eating, Birkenstock wearing tree huggers from the cities are not wreaking these locations. 😂😂 Rather from my experience from cleaning up, or arriving at a site that is full of a large group of side by side, atv driving group. The whole site is full of trash and I had to take out bags of garbage. Rather I’ve arrived after a small group of car campers from a major city and noticed they had actually cleaned up the campsite. It’s not the location where people live that dictates how they take care of our planet. Rather it’s the mentality, selfishness, etc. Anyways That’s just my 2 cents....
      I hope that explains my thinking..🤙
