  • Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today, we get another opportunity to test out our new 2024 Western Star 49X with a Miller Industries, Century 9055XL. The 9055XL is a 50 ton integrated (non-rotating) 3-stage boom. The XL is for Extra Long reach and has the same capacity as the standard 50T 3-stage. A customer calls us to perform a heavy winch out of a truck pulling a partially loaded flammable liquids trailer MC406. The truck got stuck going around a building at a new construction site. The ground conditions were horrible. And, as you will see, one simple pull isn't going to get this one. There is one extremely close call which was quite the scary few moments!!!!!! Watch to find out what I'm talking about. So far, I am loving this truck and what it can do!!! Thank you, God, for blessing our family and our business. Watch as we continue to receive God's blessings. There is much more to come!!! I hope you enjoy this video!!!
    We have a difficult and dangerous job and we take it very seriously, that doesn't mean we can't have fun and enjoy our work. We strive to be polite, professional, efficient, and safe...and still can have fun. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

      I agree. They told him it was okay to go that way, yet it gets stuck. His company provided a service to them by bringing the fuel they need. You'd think with all of the tracked vehicles and trucks around that go through that stuff with ease, they would've tried to get the thing unstuck themselves, rather than forcing the expense of using Midwest Truck.

    Ron, you should be proud the way Ethan is thinking critically on these jobs, taking your instruction and criticism, and applying his own knowledge and training to complete the tasks in a safe and professional manner.
    Ethan, you should be proud of yourself. From watching this channel for several years I have watched grow into your roll. I know your granddad is watching over you, and smiling.

    Nothin quite like watchin big man Ron letting Ethan run the reigns, and Ethan showing just how good of a towman he's become. Love this family, love the work you do, Sure dad/grandad is up there smilin down on his boys.
    My mom, who was a Minister, taught me to count my blessings daily, she asked me to find 10 things every day to be thankful for, and know that nothing is granted, everything is a blessing, from the clothing on your back, the roof over your head, the food in your bellies, she built her own ministry on this principle, she called it Our Daily Blessings, and later she renamed it to Daily Walk In Christian Faith. We lost her back in 2017 to health complications, and her ministry went under, but we still to this day count our blessings.

    one love seeing ethan running the truck with his name on the door. two finally a true test of the big stars talent as a recovery truck. i know she is a multi-role beast a strong recovery truck and a reliable work horse for everyday tows. i take it the choice was to bring the substantially lighter truck when compared with the rotator.

    • @stellarproductions8888
      @stellarproductions8888 9 днів тому

      Since the rotator weighs 72.5 thousand, if they brought it out there, it would have sunk for sure. And besides, you don't need a rotator to do a winch out, not when you have a 50-ton with a big stick, and lots of power, so I agree with you. It was nice seeing Ethan think quicker on his feet on this one, I have no doubt that was due to all the extra training he's been getting in collage, to become a top level wrecker operator. I know Ron is proud of his son, and so am I.

    • @glennjukes5581
      @glennjukes5581 8 днів тому

      Rotator is a lot bigger/heavier--if you don't actually need to lift something-use a stick truck. At the end of the month a lot cheaper to operate.

    Poor bloke if he was told that's the way the trucks go, with ground that soft once he was already in it he was stuffed. I get why once he went through the first part he kept going, look how it nearly rolled coming back he would have felt that on the way in. Glad people like you can help him I'm sure he will be embarrassed for awhile but we are human no one was hurt or building damaged!

    I was dumping a Loader bucket of gravel out of my trialer one night to clean something out of it. It was dark, and I couldn't see the trialer tires I got out of the truck to go see if the trialer that cleaned out and the tail gate had got on another pile of gravel and all 8 tires on the trailer was off the ground and it was Is leaning to one side. I ran back up to the truck and pushed the down button. It came back down, right. That was as close as I came to turning an end dump over in the 9 years I pulled one. That happened at the start of the time I was pulling an end dump. That made me watch things a lot closer when I was dumping the dark.
    Great job, guys.

    Today I was the idiot, but thanks to your many wonderful videos, I knew immediately to cut my losses and call a tow company. The operator came out, assessed the situation, took my suggestions under advisement, video-chatted one of his coworkers to further advice, skillfully got my vehicle out of a predicament, and then charged me a price that could not be beat. Ron, sorry to tell you, but you are not the only awesome worker in the business. :)

    Ethan and his safety "brain bucket" brings a big smile to my face each and every time I see him in it! It is very comforting to see a young man who is responsible, respectful, and VERY respectable that lives his life maybe about "half a bubble off plumb"!!! You are a very lucky man, Ron Pratt! It does my heart good to see a man who owns a very successful business that has his family members diligently working shoulder to shoulder with him! Ron, I have exactly ZERO doubt that your Dad is looking down on all y'all with a very big, satisfied, and proud smile on his face because he is so very proud of what y'all are doing to prosper and continue to build the company that he built with the help of his own family!!!

    I was driving my car through your country a few days ago, crossing the Mississippi at Cairo. During those storms, on both trips. There was a notable rise in the River level in between the crossings. Then in Texas as ia gto close to home there was a tractor that had left the road and lost its front axle. It seemed to be a struggle to get that truck free from the ditch. Thankfully it was upright and the cab was intact. So presumably no injury.

    Great video Ron! An editing suggestion for future videos where you've got multiple perspectives, put some sort of note on-screen while you're using someone else's perspective. It took Ethan speaking to the driver for multiple minutes for me to realize it was his perspective (and from then on I knew to check for his cowboy hat in shadows after each cut), but newer viewers might not realize either of those.
    Still definitely have some growing pains from the new truck, I think every video since delivery has revealed at least one solvable problem - no PTO alarm, missing traffic control devices, no zipties on rimslings, etc - but given a few more months to work out all the kinks, I expect this will be an incredibly capable unit in your fleet!

    You got that right!
    I slid in mud several times the whole rig will slide it can even with the wheels straight.
    Having chunky grippy floaters or not it’ll still slide in the mud in certain conditions.
    I own and have drove trucks that had locking both axle drive.
    Well, at all times both axles turn.
    The lock locks em.
    Doesn’t allow them to freely spin. Yall know.
    Tires that size are bound to slide in the mud. This Star got nice looking floaters in the front they look like Michelins which I have on my trucks now.
    On my dump truck and my tractor. I’ll be putting them on my other dump truck soon. They have a nice tread pattern and they are a nice size.
    Highly recommend Hankooks floater tires as well
    Good Year workhorse floaters I have ran as well are decent

    It's not the first time you've had to take 3 'bites' at the 'apple'! That said, this one must have been the most challenging. Well done in averting a potential rollover. That post probably would've come off second best! Overall, a difficult, and potentially dangerous, task completed without major incident and another stranded trucker pulled out of a sticky situation. Indeed, comms would have helped and, maybe, having another vehicle, eg the rotator, on scene. Nevertheless, well done Ethan and Ron in getting the job done. Ron and Ethan, you should both be proud of each other for knowledge (Ethan) and excellent teaching (Ron). Greetings from the UK. God bless.

    Oh Ron I would be refusing to drop off there until the company does something to enable the heavy vehicles to access safely. This is ridiculous. Both you & Ethan are doing wonderfully. Love to you all. x😊

    I can’t quite imagine what that tanker driver was thinking looking at that mud the way it looks thinking it would be safe to drive through there.. I pull food grade tanker trailers. And if there is any kind of soft looking questionable dirt on the way to the delivery site I won’t drive through it. And if I can’t deliver because of the mud in the way to the delivery site, then that’s on the customer not on me.

    Need to get a set of radios to stay in this truck. I know they're expensive but well worth the money when being able to communicate with each other.
    Another great job by the Pratt men.
