i was doing this for an actual hour and in the process accidentally lit the napkin and it caught fire very quickly. i was so scared of catching literally everything around me on fire that i didn’t even light my joint and extinguished it. now i sit here and cry

You can also take a little nail about an inch long and stick it in the bottom of bic lighters. Keep the nail in it when using the lighter. When it runs out, take the nail out and use a 2.99 can of butane to fill it back up and replace the pin. Alot cheaper than buying new bics. The hole from the nail will need to be slightly smaller then the tip of the butane. Works :)
Wait, a dead Bic? That isn't even possible! They get stolen or lost way before they die.

For everyone commenting that it doesn't work: I tried it and was too unsuccessful, but I think I've figured out why- if you remove the metal shield that covers the thumb wheel (which for some reason I always seem to just do) then the flint powder you grind of will just transfer to your finger off the wheel and you'll never accumulate much. At least thats my theory based on my black thumb and clean tissue.

If the lighter was "revived” it would have fire coming out of it. It only sparks, I can do that with a lighter that works! If you take the chrome cover off it will give you a few more lights, that’s a “revive”!
Thank you stranger, thanks to you I can postpone buying a new lighter and get high tonight, this actually works guys. I took off the metal cap and gave the handle a few extra spins and I ended up with a big ass flame that lights my herb.

You can also take two dead lighters hold one in each hand so the part where the flame should be touches on both lighters than light em both together it might take a couple tries but the left over gas in both lighters combined is enough to create and maintain a flame

This seems to be an easier method to the prison match. The prison match is done almost the same way. Dead lighter, toilet paper and some lent from a used sock. Make a funnel with TP, a small amount of sock lent roled into a ball, add lent ball to TP funnel, use the dead lighter to spark the lent ball.
Been around for ages but still good info for the younger gen. P.S. kids, Don't go camping with a empty lighter, Unless your in your back yard :) And back up water proof fire kit lol. Love your vids Kip.

hey Kipkay, wanna know something interesting? well couple of days ago i accidentally knocked over a lamp with one of those CFL bulbs in it over and it made the base come apart, (not the glass tube with all the mercury) inside there's an assortment of capacitors, one electrolytic cap, a small transformer similar to a transistor radio audio transformer and a couple of wire wound inductors mounted to a small circular circuit board, just wondering what kind of projects you could make with the components inside a cfl base

A better method is to remove the cover to make it a "crack lighter" then spray axe on a surface and spark the lighter over the axe. This will work forever and it never stops sparking.

The metal wheel as you call it is not what makes the spark their is a metal ferrocium rod under that wheel pushed against the wheel with a spring and when all that rod is ground away no more sparks will come.. or u could just take the metal top piece of, hold the gas with your thumb while striking the flint and it will light a small flame with the remaining gas left in the tube, leaves way more time to light something then a paper.

Try and see if melting candle wax over the tip of a match and see if it makes the match head waterproof or at least water resistant.
Remove the metal surround plate, hold lighter in left hand and depress gas lever with thumb, spin wheel with index finger of right hand while holding lighter still. Tiny flame, but quite adequate to light a cigarette or piece of paper. Works for quite a few times.
Just use the flint to spark tinder if u have survival skills if not this is AWESOME
the spark isn't enough to light tinder, otherwise it would be easy...
Another tip: if you slightly pull a cotton ball apart, it becomes very easy to spark and light, no flint needed.

if theres a tiny bit of fluid left but it wont light. hold down the button then strike it. be careful it may only work once or twice
The dry lighter will work if you have cotton shavings from a sock or other cotton piece of clothing the flint sparks will ignite it too.

The best way to "revive" a lighter is to heat it up somehow, increase the pressure of the fumes inside and hopefully get another light

You can also make fire with a AA battery and a foil from a stick of chewing gum. You cut the edge of it thin and attach one side to positive and one side to negative and it heats up and ignites we used that down range to light cigarettes.
