So I went duck hunting this morning, had to get up early so I uploaded this while I slept and published it at around 4am PST. After I hunting, I noticed all the comments that referenced "behind the scenes footage"...I was thinking "what behind the scenes footage?" when I finally had a minute to play the video and realized the wrong footage saved from the edit and was uploaded. Here is the REAL video that was meant to be released this morning. I promise I am a better woodsman than a UA-camr. Thanks again for all your views, likes, comments, and especially shares and for everything you do to support us here at the GBGB channel!
Christopher Kavanaugh we did not. It was a great day of hunting but we only have three ducks to show for it. The wife is waiting for the hunting knife I am testing to get back from Alaska and she will do a duck processing video for the channel. I am headed out for a 10-day hunt in the morning so she has the wheel.
Left my lighter outside by accident and we had a whole storm last night. Didn't realize it was out there until I looked out the window this afternoon lol. Common sense told me to dry the lighter and shake it like what you did in the video, but what I didn't do was remove that guard. I did that, dried it, and I got a spark, but no flame. So I thought that maybe some water mixed in with the fuel. After a few clicks, it came back on like nothing ever happened. This video was helpful. Thanks man
Good info! As an experienced BIC lighter user (smoker), I would add pulling the silver guard off. Blow the water away or use your shirt to get the water off. Put the guard back on then roll it.
This just work for me. Perfectly. On a lighter that was left out in the pouring rain overnight (and most of the next day). Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Great job mate. I just saved a completely submerged brand new Bic lighter that I dropped in the pool! Did exactly as you said it worked like a charm, my man! Great job great video
Did a comparison once between a rotary and a piëzo lighter. Fully submerged and shaken to get the air bubbles out. After the shaking and blowing technique the piëzo allready worked, so I preferred that. Both actually because Bic’s are usually of way higher quality. But I didn’t use cotton on the rotary, just jeans. Will have to retry after seeing this. Great video!
At 1:22 pry the band (it's for child safety) from the split joining metal where the flame comes from. You split those two apart and the band just falls right out. From that direction you can use just about anything to get the band off.
Great knowledge, I always take off the metal safety piece from bics lighters too. When I do it I take a small flathead screwdriver from a swiss army knife and bend the two little metal tabs that are holding the safety in place upward, and then pull it out. Then I bend the two tabs back down flat. Makes it much easier for me to pull the safety out
There is one in a couple weeks and will be more coming the second half of the year. Just make sure you are on my email list and they will be announced in the monthly newsletter
I got two mini Bic lighters in a fanny pack I use hot glue underneath the button and it works perfectly to keep it from getting depressed. 2 is 1 and 1 none as Josh says.
I was thinking at the beginning no possible way this would work 😂😂😂 I started slinging this puppy on my pants leg and it immediately started sparking 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
So my lighter was sitting on the back balcony and It started to rain before I could move it . So I go to use the lighter and no spark or anything … lol, so I referred to UA-cam to see what I could do to get it working🤷🏼♀️.? Then BAMM💥 !! I watched this video and now my lighter is working like new😎. Definitely a good trick of the trade to know!!🤙🏻👍🏻
Well, it seems that I need all the information on lighters I can get. This weekend I had a premiere in sleeping out in the winter. I usually use flint and steel or ferrocerium rod to start my fire, but I put a lighter into cargo pocket on my throusers for emergency. On the trip I wanted to seal unraveling shoe lace with a flame, took out the lighter as the most convenient source of flame, didnt work. Great, I thought, I take a ligher for emergency situations and it fails on me. Upon ariving home I noticed it worked again! Oh, silly me, it was just too cold (-5° C) for gas lighter. Still a lot to learn, thank you for your help.
Very susceptible to cold weather. They have to be on an inside pocket next to the body. I learned that lesson in the cold Adirondack winters. That is why I always carry stormproof matches as well. I have had cold and windy conditions that a lighter doesn't work as well as the matches in.
Bring a cup of rice, half a cup is a meal without some meat, but you can also use it to absorb moisture from lighters and electronics, multiple redundancies.
The unedited version was good too. Lol! Great tips sir! This could be life saving one day. Keep up the good work. The camera woman did an excellent job as well!
Just bought it, forgot to take it out my pocket before going in the water, everybody said to just get a new one, I said ‘not with ol Gray Beard still breathing!’ 😂 saved it
was doing this laying in bed at night. it was super loud so i put it under the covers and was doing it. next thing you know my whole body is in flames but for some reason only lasted like .01 seconds. super weird... lighter works now tho. thanks
Great tips josh ya we had bics everywhere and some c4 to heat stuff up zippos were the big thing then ! While good never lasted like a bic ! Take care brother oh we would dry the nice the same way !
Great vid! Personally, I have never had a problem. Oops. I dropped my bic in a puddle. Pick it up, give it a couple good shakes, and flick it. Fires right up, no prob. That having been said, in extreme cold, maybe there's a chance of it freezing up. Your tips would virtually prevent that from becoming an issue.
@the grey bearded green beret amen brother! Another video idea for you although it sounds simple to most of us would be a thinking outside the box to overcome the other obstacles of using a lighter. Fuel conservation, fighting wind, and keeping and or getting a lighter warm so it performs at peak performance when needed. Don't sweat the smell stuff. I promise you are a better UA-camr than I am. I don't do video because I know my limitations. I learn things from your videos so you must be a good outdoorsman too. Thanks for the great content!

Good tip, I need to pay closer attention to how it’s fastened and not just monkey it off

One of the disadvantages of not being a smoker I guess.
Very true. I know a smoker can get a lighter going no mater what the conditions!
Excellent video x2! Thanks.
Thank you, my lighter fell in water and wouldn’t work and I followed your video and it fixed it
THIS WORKED IM SCREAMING!!!!! thank you omg
