For some perspective, weddings in Nigeria typically attract huge crowds of several hundred or even over a thousand and are generally open to all well-wishers. What was for us, a "small" wedding in terms of the number of people would no doubt be considered a crowd in a different culture and context.

Our culture lays so much emphasis on the 'extras' of the wedding ceremony, many times to the detriment of the most important thing- The couple!.
