Ms. Sharon I couldn't agree with you more. Most people would just grumble amongst their fellow co-workers but would never speak up when it counts or they won't bring their grievances to the direct person. I CAN'T STAND IT when people get on that high horse with the idea and comments that because a fellow co-worker Jane and/or a manager work pass closing hours, through breaks, and during weekends WITHOUT PAY, DOES NOT MEAN I should be willing and able to do it. What workers tend to do is instead of going to the source they cry out to co-workers who have no power to alleviate the situation. No thank you. Besides, I never understood why people DON'T speak up more often. Our voices can make change... I promise it's NOT insubordination to say "no" ESPECIALLY when it's too much to handle at once and the work just keeps getting piled on versus "grinning and bearing" it to the managers and directors but being vocal to the fellow subordinates who aren't making the rules.

I'll say this though... if this experience doesn't motivate you to prep for retirement more aggressively, I don't know what would. In the workplace I know that sometimes people have been put in a position to retire sooner than later. Considering the office environment can change for the worse, people begin to prep for an earlier departure and buy their time versus spending their days stressed and depressed when the weekend passes and the next work week starts.
Sharon. You are not the boss. The boss gets the big money and the kudos, not for his work but for his subordinates hard work. Most people work to live and only live to work if their work is also their passion.. Your passion is fashion. Fashion for you isn't work, it's love. I pray that this year will be the year you are able to earn from doing what you love.
So what would he have done if you had pushed yourself to the point that you became too I'll to work? All of that was to make himself look good to whomever he reported to.
