That was so beautifully said. I lost my lady of and wife of 22 years, two years ago and it's music like this helping to keep my beautiful memories alive for me and our little people. So beautifully and, as you say, soulfully played.
So, a year ago I thought this was beautiful, and my view still stands. That was gorgeous. The right balance of 'smooth' and jazz. Love it!

They are all fantastic musicians, however my vote goes to Elan. He's got everything a great saxophone player must have, a great sound, great improvisational skills and needless to say great technique, but above al he's got soul. Great job Elan!

4:21 the piano player suddenly plays a C#major7 chord. It sounds really really nice, I want to know why he did it like how he saw that chordchange. Can somebody explain it?
Rafael Sinay So the chord on 4:18 is C major 7 over D, a substitute for D7th or D7th b5. At 4:21, Otmaro then substitutes Eb minor 9th, (still over D), making a D augmented major 7th, #9. The natural progression at this point, after the more basic D7th, (for which C major 7 over D was substituted) would be to move to D7th b9 as a chromatic movement leading to the 5th of a Gminor chord.
There is neverthless a certain ambiguity about it, although the general sound is that of a D7th b5.
If you hear it like that, the chord he plays could be interpreted as a tritone substitution of the b5th of D, that is, if you were to add a straight Ab in the bass, with the top note descending from E to Eb, you could interpret the chord as a polychord, a straight F minor 7th over the top of F# major, with Ab in the bass. You could also do a straight F7 over F# major (with D in bass all the while). Sounds wild in either case. But I bet you're sorry you asked at this point.
