    NOTE: When baking, this is to go in a 450 degree preheated oven, not the 350 I said when adding bread to the oven. I apologize for the confusion.

    I love making artisan bread in a dutch oven, seasoned with pink salt and fresh Rosemary. You'd think it would be finicky, but I find it's one of the most foolproof recipes out there... so long as you follow all the steps Sam laid out!

    I’ve made bread like this many times using a similar recipe and it’s always fantastic. I like to throw some ice cubes in the preheated pot with the dough for extra steam. The main problem I have is not getting full on bread before the main dish is ready. My advice, don’t even taste the bread until all of the other food is ready to be served. Excellent video, Sam! 🥇

      @ The critical aspect of this recipe is keeping some of the steam from the dough as it bakes in the cooking vessel for as long as possible, so you don’t necessarily need a Dutch oven. I use an all metal stock pot and lid. Any pot and lid without plastic knobs / handles will work as long as it’s large enough. I’ve heard that some people have been successful making this type of recipe on a sheet pan with the dough inside of a disposable oven bag like the ones used to cook turkeys. Good luck!!!

    I have never made breads of any sort. I decided that today i would give it a try. I started sour dough starter three days ago, and will give that a try. I just 🙏 this works, because my Mom is in the hospital and refuses to eat the hospital food. If it passes the test, homenade sandwiches headed her way.

    I find if you dust a little bit of flour before putting the plastic wrap and letting rise for the last 30 minutes, the dough won’t stick as much on the plastic wrap! Nothing like a good artisan bread 😍😍😍😍

    I will certainly try this, your other bread recipes are fantastic! My families favorite sandwich bread is your recipe, our favorite garlic bread is your recipe and I have a feeling this will be another favorite. Oh, your meatballs with marinara has become our regular Friday night dinner. I like to make them up and freeze them then vacuum seal them into dinner portions, all I have to do then is put them in the fridge the night before to thaw and proceed with your directions. As an American that's been out of country for a few years I really really appreciate your recipes because I'm able to have food I've always known when I want it... like banana pudding and your nilla wafers. I wouldn't be able to have that at all if you didn't have 100% from scratch to make it. I don't eat out... not a fan of local food so thank goodness you're here. Have wonderful day and thank you so very much for sharing all that you do.

    Making this today! I'll be honest, this is a far cry from how I usually make bread, especially when it comes to the shaping and how sticky and loose it is. But man, that end result looks to be exactly what I've been wanting to make this whole time I've been making bread, haha. Thanks for sharing!

    I find putting the Parchment paper into a bowl about the same size as your Dutch Oven and dropping the Dough into that paper lined Bowl while you heat your Dutch Oven, then the Dough takes a better shape for when you're having to deal with a 450 Degree Iron Bowl and Dough that wants to lose it's shape as you're lowering it into the HOT pot.

    Sam good morning, ? You said or I heard preheat oven & Dutch oven for 30 min at 450° while bread is resting. But then you said put back into 350° degree oven for 30 min. I'm confused Sorry do you preheat to 450° them drop to 350° to cook?? I Love all your videos. Thank you

      @SugarSpunRun  10 місяців тому +1

      Sorry for the confusion. I caught it too late go back and fix it. I did pin a comment in hopes of alleviating confusion, but the 350 was an error. The oven should stay at 450 and the bread baked on 450. :)
