it's ironic that one of the most recommended viewings on editing has some of the worst sound work I've seen on a video
RIP headphone users at the beginning.
and at the end...
No, thanks to you
I came here because I'm in a film and TV subject and I want to learn how to edit properly.
So it goes...1) Does it fit emotion? 2) Does it tell Story? 3) Does it establish Rhythm 4) Is the audience given enough Eye trace time(with the counter rule being if its a fight) 5) 2d planes and eyelines 6) Does it hook up movements?
no
thank anyway
Legend_XT_Oli ???
Thank you, for someone that does editing he really did a poor job of actually listing them 1-6. Thanks for this, also how are your film ventures?
In nearly every Walter Murch video he emphasizes the Rule of Six ... and he can't repeat it enough, for these rules need to be pointed out all the more. I've been getting more positive comments on my editing since I'd adopted the rule of six.
Outstanding post.
This was at the NFTS? The National Film and Television School. I went for their open day, would love to attend. What an awesome school, they get great lecturers. It's like getting Einstein to do a Physics class!- Heri

thank you so much for posting this.
thnx
Walter Murch kinda reminds me of Billy Bob Thornton
Usually. But you have to check the broadcasters you are submitting your work. The rule usually assumes that the broadcaster will use a compressor of there own to bring it up in loudness and keep all programs broadcast on that channel at the same level. But youtube doesn't do that. So the RECORD industry standard of bringing the loudest sounds upto 0db and brick wall limiting it (especially for music) usually works.Problem is consumers just expect audio content to be loud! This isn't block 6
it really isn‘t lmao
Why have such a loud intro and then no volume leveling...especially when I assume that you at least know a little about what you're doing?
thank
what a load of stupid comments there are, surely this part of UA-cam should be free of the usual youtube type shit
thank
Walter is God. with an NLE.
Murch has a pretty interesting theory. However, I'm working on something far more superior. It's called the mindtage.
