wow. That is the strangest looking tongue drum I've ever seen. I've never seen them bubble up the tongues like that. I wonder what the makers intention was?
Hi Cathy, I enjoy your djembe and RAV videos on UA-cam. Thanks for posting those. Regarding the raised nodes on these drums, here is a statement directly from the maker, Justin Miller, “A TouchToneTank is a whole new kind of tuned hand drum. Inspired by handpans and not satisfied with many of the tongued tank drums on the market, I set out to make a drum that was sensitive to the tap of a finger and playable without the constant muting that heavier tank drums require. Each tongue has my exclusive raised node design that makes it possible to ring a note without the slapping sound often heard when striking steel tongues, so the tone is what shines through. Perfect for slow meditations or fast sequences, my drums have been a hit with prog-rock percussionists and yoga teachers. The ease of play and the careful tuning layout make it perfect for kids and those without musical backgrounds since all the notes are tuned to sound perfectly harmonious in any sequence.”
Hi, how does it sound compared with your handpan in terms of the singing tone and overtones? Thanks
