Super Smash Bros. Lawl Nova Moveset: Sybil (Pseudoregalia)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- Not much is known about Sybil, other than the fact that she has the ability to travel to other people's dreams... but after her adventure in the mysterious Castle Sansa, this Goat-Bunny-Cat lady has learnt all sorts of magical abilities that make her a fighter that you don't want to sleep on!
This was originally part of an ARG in Kermit's moveset that involved following a series of clues in order to find the link to this set. If you are wondering why there are so many comments saying "There's Kermit", now you know why.
You can play the game here:
store.steampow...
Cameos:
-Mr. Dark from Lawl Cassette, created by @MiroFloydtan: Both are characters from platformers that take place in dream-like worlds.
-Madeline from Lawl Encore, created by @TheScentOfPlums: Both are characters from indie 2D platformers. Rittzler, the creator of Pseudoregalia, also started developing a 3D Celeste tech demo.
-AiAi from Lawl Dreams, created by @ItStarLux: Both are characters from 3D platformers with dedicated speedrun communities. Also, I just HAD to cameo a character from Lawl Dreams here.
Special thanks to...
-@choesta, who helped me import the models and animations from the game into Blender.
-Count Crackula, who helped me extract the sound effects from the game. They have no UA-cam account as far as I know, but you can find them here: countcrackular...
-My brother, @pedroromerogonzalez1654, who provided some additional Blender help, made the effects for Sybil's third victory pose as well as the ones used in Neutral and Side B, and of course, he also programmed "TheatreOfDreams".
Music:
-Outside the Castle Walls - Pseudoregalia: • Pseudoregalia OST - 05...
-Paramnesiac - Pseudoregalia: • Pseudoregalia OST - 11...
-Delirious Acting - Pseudoregalia: • Pseudoregalia OST - 10...
Reminder that you don't have to comment "There's Kermit" anymore. That was just part of the ARG's instructions
Hey, uhhh… Skapokon?
I know it it's was part of an arg
Hey!
There's Kermit
So, Sybil I was already familiar with, thanks to you, but them getting a set in Lawl Nova THIS soon????
Sybil is someone whose source material I am already very interested in, this whole set is a true testament to their source material, an indie platform character whose set is very heavily based on how character herself functions in the game. Also, can we just say this music is some of the best moveset music in the history of Lawl, it's so...good and dreamy.
The fact you went out of your way to rip the model and animate it for the attacks just leaves me stunned. It's SO WELL ANIMATED, and the set itself, I can't even comment on how good it is, because I'm such a simpleton. The mechanics work perfectly and I would be REALLY STOKED to see how they would play in actual 1v1! And that final smash is nothing short of amazing.
I love the lore so much too, probably the most advanced lore has ever gotten in Nova, I like that you used a line from Wilkins (as another comment pointed out), and Sybil being able to see Kermit as not a threat through flashbacks is really sweet, and seeing that this was all a dream from Jade was a clever way to nod to the ARG
Honestly the ARG as a whole was a highlight of this, I'm sure some people were trying to pull their hair figuring it out, but if ARG won't let you do that, is it really an ARG? It was fantastic piece of creativity you and your brother pulled off, ~~and it was even better ARG than anything Chin has ever pulled~~
This double moveset was overall an absolute treasure trove, proof that Nova is the Definitive Lawl.
Ok, time to leave a proper comment
Kermit's moveset was already a treat (gonna leave a comment there later as well), but the whole mystery with his disapperance on top of that, and ending with a moveset for one of my favourite movement-based 3D platformers ever? You were spoiling us. This moveset is a great translation of her kit into a Smash-like setting. The Side B was a great adaptation of her wall slide ability and you did some cool creative liberties with her Down B that adapted it into a Lawl nicely while keeping it true to how it works in the game. Also a fan of how you incorporated the wall kick into her Front Air and the weapon throwing into her Up Taunt (have a feeling that Up Taunt attack would create some hype tournament clips lol)
Two Lawl Nova sets in two days? Now that's what I call entertainment!
Never heard of this game at all,. But now that I have thanks to this, might get into it later.
Out of all the movesets to come out this year so far, this one has to be one of my personal favorites. Because you really, clearly put a lot of love and care into making your own version of how Sybil could play in Smash, while being faithful to her and regalia. While at the same time wrapping this gift of a moveset video in a genuinely well done ARG you and your brother carefully, creatively concocted. Genuinely this moveset was so great at selling me and I'm certain others on Pseudoregalia, I went, bought it, and just recently completed it. And let me say: yeah you nailed it, Skap dear.
The way she's animated, the way her attacks help her maneuver around the battlefield, the insane boss fight being repped (with all the regal characters in Nova being there, great touch pfffft) and all the references to regalia, it was all handled so well. After playing its just incredible to be able to point and say oh hey there's that location, that place was brutal to get through pffffft. But for real had a great time with the game and I cannot thank you enough for making me aware of it. Even if well, this moveset is pretty spoiler heavy, it was still a dream come true experiencing regalia for myself.
Sybil's moveset helped remind me that the best kind of moveset videos are the ones that get you excited for the source material being represented, regardless if you know it or not. Especially if that source means dearly to the person making it. That passion and excitement for it shining through even in the darkest of dilapidated dungeons. Loved the game, loved this moveset, love you Skap. Hope we get even more fun indie game rep whether it be in Nova or in one of your review series. Guess all I can really say now is thanks, bee lady.
Here I am, early in the morning, taken by surprise that not only has the ARG wrapped off.this early,.but that the character is someone only a few would have known or seen coming.
This being my first exposure to the character and her game of origin, I must say Sybil is a great example of a rush down character thanks to her being able to link up attacks to perform fast combos. The Final Smash was certainly amazing, and I loved the interactions between her and Kermit, particularly the lines of the latter. So while i.have little to say about Sybil as a character, this is proof that Nova can still pull off amazing surprises. Looking forward to our two remaining announced characters.
Sybil is a character I thought it was very up your alley when I watched the NitroRad video about Pseudoregalia. For some reason, the indie ultra-specific platforming with dream-related characters felt too much like your vibe. So getting a moveset of her after a crazy Kermit ARG feels like hallucinating. I love how Lawl Nova is slowly but surely turning into a legit Smash clone with indie reps like Hat Kid, Irene, Jade, Arzette and Sybil. Maybe you should contact their creators and pitch an actual game because this is going places.
Probably wouldn't be too hard getting the content creators as fighters involved as well...
Aaah, so this where all those clues were leading to. I was participating in the ARG but one clue I couldn't do since I only had my phone on me, so I couldn't finish, but it was such a cool idea and it really had me thinking for a good couple hours.
As for this new moveset itself, I'm not really familiar with Pseudoregalia or the character, but the moves themselves were pretty cool, and the music used in this during the moveset portion... oh my god. I don't think I've ever bopped my head while watching a Lawl video ever until now. XD
Overall, another well put together video from Nova :)
There's *the character everyone is trying to find* !
Two Movesets in one week amazing job man! Also I did not see Sybil coming but a perfect choice for a fighter I say.
Annnnnd, -here's Johnny- there's Kermit!!!
This is an absolute insane ARG hunt just for the silly puppet frog and I love it. While not unheard of since Shad and Cheesy (for CiDR, but not for Lawl, sadly enough) did do something similar to either to hide away secret for their more serious characters or to reveal more lore, this is some Scott Cawthon shit just for a bonus moveset, I haven't seen such a thrill alike to a treasure hunt since forever.
Although, I would probably never figure out the secret video that's required for the ARG Game without the community members, so thanks to you all who are reading this!
That being said, while you're an avid supporter of various indies platformers, I never picked up that you're also a Metroidvania gal. (which makes you more based, out of all things considered)
While the basics of the set are to be expected from the agile platformer protag, with the quick mobility tool to move yourself around alongside a Neutral B that can be done whenever you want and all, but the execution plus all the potential and bonus stuff out of the game creates a really fun and competitive focused character similar to the likes of Perry. While concept-wise, sure, there may have been a couple mechanics that's seen in the likes of other Metroidvania focused fan movesets before; but when put together, they make for a faithful set that's not only unique to her, but also the genre as a whole.
While a weird choice to be put together with the green frog himself than maybe for the Isabel set, it's quite the lovely tribute bonus!
As usual, hope only the best for your next project!
-but because there's no "lion's jump" joke for Up B, I'll have to give this moveset 9 goatling butler plush out of 10- 😔 /j
Ther---oh, never mind. We all know where he is now.
I gotta admit, i've never heard about Pseudoregalia or NitroRad's video about it prior to this video, but now i'm kinda interested to pick both of them up. I'm loving Sybil's fast-paced, accelerated fighting style, and how versatile she can be in any corner of the battlefield. From the analysis side of things, it's kinda hilarious how Kermit could also spell trouble for her if he's one of her potential opponents.
And the lore scenes can't stop getting better!
There’s Kermit!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAA
YAAAAAAAAAAY
I was *NOT* expecting Wilkins audio for the "en garde" bit...
Man that BGM reminds me of my childhood. It's a very late 80s to early 2000s sounding style of music. Like Outride a Crisis from Super Hang-On or a few tracks from Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, NiGHTS Into Dreams and MapleStory.
Of everything the ARG could have, this was an option that never crossed my mind... A secret moveset, and I must say that it is as solid as Kermit's in playability and animation
What catches my attention the most is how smooth and fluid the Sybii animation looks, it reminds me of Bigfoot GTA in that sense
Well, this was an excellent surprise, and also thanks to you I found another game to add to the wish list
There’s Kermit!!!! What a treat of a moveset, absolutely GOATed!
even though i had literally no idea the game this character's from even existed im already enjoying it, this feels like if you were to take sonic mains, remove their camping aspects and instead just become full rushdowns, and give them joker's arsène, it seems nice and the neat little extra things they can do like wall kicks and clings make the character seem really fun to play as, also the up taunt attack is something i feel is gonna be the next 9 in judge or falcon's knee in which it's gonna cause a huge crowd eruption the moment that it hits lmao.
also the fact that this random character just shows up out of nowhere after a whole ass arg about kermit the god damn frog happens is so funny to me and i don't know why
Not too familiar with Sybil or Pseudoregalia, but this was a great moveset!
I could see her being Arzette's rival, since they're both from recent indie games with artstyles inspired by older games.
Arzette's rival is CD-i Zelda, but maybe they can be mid-rivals.
There's Kermit!
Welm Gelm Gelm,a bonus moveset with a alternative twist, quite clever Skaps,I applaud you.
There's Kermit!!!!
he's here!!!
Two movesets in two days is not only amazing, but adding in an ARG in relation to the second mystery character that even included some really good looking lore just tops everything off really well!
Now I’m completely unfamiliar with Sybil or Pseudoreragalia, but this was an incredible showcase of this character, who yields from a really great looking Platformer game (which is what helped me pick up on the fitting cameo choices) and I think this moveset was a fantastic watch.
The moves themselves all fit the aggressive Rushdown playstyle from the Wolf’s Blaster-esque charge Neutral Special, to the Burst movement option Side Special and the multi faceted recovery, all of which can be improved upon using the Down Special, and I’m always a big fan of specials that upgrade the existing specials (in fair ways) at the cost of not making the Down Special itself a direct attack.
The Final Smash also looked really well done, just like the animations and cropping on Sybil, and despite me not getting all the references, every bit of detail and effort put into this moveset and delivering on it makes this yet another great moveset of yours. Great job! (And also, funnily enough, this set reminds me of SA Bigfoot in terms of the characters graphical levels and both being surprise movesets)
"WHAT ZE HELL?!"
-TF2 Spy
Never heard of her or her game, but damn this ARG was wild. And her moveset is fun too!
There's Kermit!
I didn't expect this and that's why I'm going to addict to lawl,I love Sybil
There's Kermit! How come he has to battle *this* fellow?
there's kermit!
There's Kermit!
what a RIDE that arg was hbhgfdjgfhdjggd, what a way to gather hype for a character i'd previously never heard of, and im now VERY interested in checking out
ive noticed platformer characters lend themselves very well to rushdown playstyles, and that certainly applies to sybil! there were some very clever workarounds to have the projectile fit in the kit; like why would you ever try and camp with this when you can act while it's charging and try and get a kill confirm out of it? but even then it limits her options juuust enough to where there's a form of risk in doing this! love her superform abilities too, it's a clever way of adapting the metroidvania formular into a moveset! and superpowered specials are always fun to have; i appreciate having the meter run down quicker so it doesnt last for too long, as it insentivises going for the middle charge more rather than always waiting for the maximum!
also normals with special properties my beloved!!! up smashes that send you in the air my ABSOLUTELY BELOVED!!!!! and the way forward air bounces off walls is a really unique mechanic! im picturing that one smash 4 wall climb video with her clearing the one-sided wall with all her wall schenanigins which seem to be very accurate to the source! last things i wanna note are that i love her taunts - the killing up taunt is hype but i just love how bored she gets on down taunt fdjhfgjfdhfdds.
gotta be the most hype double moveset to date, and im just glad kermit is safe
I mean when it comes to rushdown fighting style platforming characters, it doesn't get much more rushdown than Sonic the Hedgehog lol. Though at the same time, he's also very proficient at getting _out of fights_ as well. I like using him in 4-8 character fights just to try to dodge everyone else lol.
5:44 POV : When someone told you Sybil could not come in smash bros because smash it a game made for good boy and girl. And forget we can give Sybil a pant!
That would be a funny rivalry intro if Sybil find herself in front Sakurai at the end of her run and argu because the player don't turn on "Give a Sybil a pant!" Option XD
There's Kermit!
Also man I love this character, aaa
There's kermit
I can't believe he's been doing this for years
She*
There’s Kermit
man enough to admit that the godot puzzle took me way longer than it should've ;-;
*gasp* There's Kerment!
Is it wrong I expected a Classic Mode exchange between Sybil and Hat Kid?
They're from indie 3D platformers but that's where their connections end. Hat Kid and this new character will have much more fitting rivals
There's Kermit.
There's Kermit!!!!
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE'S KERMIT!
Oh hey There's Kermit! that's crazy.
solved the arg squad
I was probably one of the only few people who was NOT expecting Constantine to be the secret character here, but regarding the actual surprise, I have no idea who Sybil is or what game she's from. So I don't really have much to say for this one, I'm afraid. The moveset was still alright though. And the outro was nice.
same too
There's Kermit! 🐸
SOLVED! NYHEHEHEH!! There's Kermit! NYAHAHAHAEHEHEH
There’s Kermit!
Heres Kermit (just wanted to be part of the club)
Arg, huh? I hope someone will achieve the puzzles included with that.
Or better yet, set it up in a way where newcomers can solve it for themselves.
Yo no digo nada. Pero Sybil viene de un juego indie. Y al menos para mí, encajaría perfectamente en Fraymakers-
There’s Kermit!!

IS THAT SYBIL From PSUEDOREGALIA!?
There's Kermit
That was fast
LET’S
FUCKING
GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Oh hey, There's Kermit! How'd he get there? Also, HELL YEAH, PSEUDOREGALIA!
Edit: Okay, call it a hunch but I'm guessing her rival is Mr. Dark?
Mr. Dark is a cameo from another Lawl: Lawl Cassette.
@@skapokonroll Ah. I see.
