IN 1993 I was heavily into "tape trading" and this dude sent me My dying Brides's : CROWN OF SYMPATHY and I was lost! I quickly bought all the CDs there were. I was in my 20's then, now I am in my 50's and am still a hard core metal WOMAN. It's so great to see you guys go over music I have been dying to talk about with friends. But as you know, MOST people don't get doom, thrash, death, and black metal (which to me are as essential as breathing). Thank you for starting this channel
We are happy to reach people like you who clearly share the same passion as us. We may not always agree on which bands we like or what albums are the best but at the end of the day we all just love metal!
Endless Grief yup 1993 my drummer said “crank this your going to freak out” it was “your River “ and they have been one of the most dear bands in my life ever thill this day !
@@RWalters81 nope , it was them trying something different but wasn't selling out. it didn't sound like anyer thing i heard before back then and still had their touch but it wasn't different.
I found My Dying Bride randomly on the internet during my teenage years(in 2011 I believe) and have been a fan of them ever since. I live in South America(Brazil) and hence it's hard for me to attend their concerts, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to go to their only show in my city some years ago and even speak with them afterwards. As Steven Wilson(Progressive rock musician) once said, sad music makes me happy. Doom metal's my favorite metal subgenre.
Following this band for years. This is for me one of the highly anticipated album of this year. And it will end up high in the endlist. Cause even a long hiatus in between albums, they always deliver. This is the opening track of the new album and the 4th shortest track of 8 numbers on the album.
Bought their demo from Aaron Stainthorpe in 1991, just before they released God is Alone, and have been hooked ever since, they are a band that has more than one face, and each face has multiple faces, and as a listener you can get multiple retellings from their work... the new album is a beautiful monster...
Waaay back in 1999/2000, a guy gave me a mix cd with MDB's "The Light at the End of the World," amongst some other doom and gothic metal. That song blew my freaking mind. I had never heard something so intense and dark. In the end, the guy ended up being a total jerk, but that mix CD opened up the world of metal I never knew existed. 🤘
My Dying Bride along with Anathema circa '93-'99 and Paradise Lost are the Doom metal kings! Also, I'm pretty sure that's Jo Quail playing the cello in this vid. Check out her live stuff/videos if you want more strings in your life ;) I actually didn't think Tvfish was going to give it a positive review at the end so that was a surprise!
@@endlessgrief9930 I think it can be quite a difficult one, metal fans who like thrash, classic heavy metal but don't venture into the softer more emotional side of metal (which is absolutely fine!) and it's the heavy classic side that gets the spotlight e.g marketing, merch etc. Doom metal is still quite niche, but both sides have ravaging committed would-do-anything for them sort of fans, and that's what makes me so proud of our metal community :)
This is going to be the track 1 in the album. MDB have so many great songs throughout their catalogue and I can't recommend them enough. They have awesome songs without violin, being She Is The Dark one of them.
Also been into this band since I was 13 with as the flower withers I'm now 40 so many good albums..this track grew on me still not one of there greatest but let's hope the new album is better than the last one
Very cool melodies. Great also when it kicks in. Vocals are top notch, really enjoyed this song. Video is great to. Made me think of Apocalypse Now- the water/mud on his face. Fantastic song. 🤘🤘
When you get a chance you should check out A Kiss to Remember by My Dying Bride. That is the song that got Vile into this band and it has become one of his favorite songs of all time. The song is about vampire persuading a victim to let him feed. It is from an album that released in 1996 called Like Gods of the Sun.
Great Doom metal Band! I also first heard their Album "Turn loose the swans" 27 years ago . I can recommend to listen to their song: THE DREADFUL HOURS, a very hard and intense track by my dying bride.
The dreadfull hours is their best album, and that song is probably one of the best from the band too... Totally. That album has the best blende of everything that makes my dying bride.. and the drumming is from another planet...
I'm a massive My Dying Bride fan, but this style of theirs isn't my kinda thing...that said, I could see where it's possible this song/album could grow on me more than similar albums of theirs in the past...
Glad you like MDB! Try this one. You ever hear of "Wolfheart?" This was the band before it. ua-cam.com/video/qevs15TW_gE/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Wolfheart

Been listening to this band from the start. In your video at #7:04 when Aaron rips into the growl is just amazing.

@@captainfantastic3490 This is an insane piece, thanks for the link!
On a couple albums, they didn't use violins and I was disappointed. Once they started using violins again so I am very happy.
You guys should check out Cry of Mankind or the prize of beauty by them. More gothy feel to those two tracks.
awesome band loved these guys for years

I'd love to hear your guys' opinion on Behold the Crown by After the Burial.
Any songs from them really.
If you like violin's in metal , have you checked out Ne Obliviscaris ?
Ron Mackay Yes! We reviewed their latest album, Urn, when it released. Great band!
@@TwoToeTags Ok good ! maybe i forgot about that review haha
