Your bread looked good. It's encouraging to see young men and women working the kitchen, getting better and better and keeping the good traditions. Keep it up. ;0)
Nowadays, men do the cooking, you see them every where, schools, restaurants, even at home. I say they do their best. Theres no limit whos doing what, were all americans. And this young man making frybread, cool. My husband, son, and son n law, do some cooking. So did my father. Your the best.
Finally Couldn’t take it any longer I crave this and I know it’s not good for you But mom never taught me and we relocated to the 216 before I knew what REZ life is
Just finished an order and I was wondering if you had a copyright or patent on this recipe in case I want to have an Indian taco sale and where I would need to forward the royalties? Jp! Lol! Fr though, it turned out great for my second time every making frybread. I suppose everyone kinda needs their own finesse when it comes to making it but I definitely have the concept down. Thank you for the video help.
4 1/2 c. water 3 packages of yeast ---whisk together 5 c. flour (sifted) Keep adding flour until you get the dough mass he made until it isn't sticky any longer. Add three tablespoons of baking powder, ? I guess you work it in afterwards? Crazy directions!! Just copied what he said.
Dry ingredients whisked in one bowl n wet in another. Yeast should be put into the warm water with just a pinch of sugar to see if it's good or not. Yeast should become frothy if it's good still.
Thank you for posting this. Grew up in Enemy Swim Lake (Waubay) when I was in my teens. My grandmother (who is Sioux Indian) made Indian Bread. However I didn't have the recipe.
Did anyone catch how much vegetable oil, sugar, and salt?i got the 3 packs of yeast in 4 1/2 cups of hot water and 5 cups of flower also 3 tbs baking powder..
Try again. Left out potions. You had water, then dough. I think the yeast and sugar gets added to warm water first? Let sit about 15 minutes. Then add flour with salt and baking powder? Just a guess. Mix well. Might have to rise for 30 minutes. Again a guess. Lol. Pointed thingy is a two tinged fork although every woman knows what a thingy is. Lol.
Hikes! You know you ain't even supposed to be in the kitchen, when the "Winyan's" are in there making frybread. How the hell can you make it? It's a WOMAN'S thing to make, that's why the "Kunsí's" are the one's who show the women of the family how to make it. Not the MEN! My grandpa and uncle's would laugh if a man was making the frybread. And another thing, how the hell you goin to call it "Sioux frybread"?

The Sioux word is derived from the French. They gave us that awful name. We are Lakota not Sioux. Just a little education for ya.
