To clarify, Renjun and Chenle are Chinese but they're not part of the Chinese unit WayV. I'll admit, I had assumed they were too when I first got in to NCT but I guess just there's a Chinese unit, doesn't mean all Chinese members need to be in it or all members of WayV need to be Chinese. Mark is kind of the unofficial leader of NCT Dream, he was never officially appointed since NCT Dream originally had a graduation system. But he kind of takes on the leader role when he was with Dream, not necessarily because he's the oldest but because he was the most experienced member (he debuted with 127 and U before Dream). Plus leaders aren't always the oldest member, its usually one of the members who's trained the longest and has leadership qualities, though that often ends up being the oldest member. Taeyong for example is the Leader of NCT127 but he's not the oldest.

Generally it is the oldest member that is the leader but we know that this is not always the case. In this case it would make sense if NCT Dream were to have a leader then Mark would be the logical choice being the most experience & oldest.

Actually, SM changed the graduation rule. So now Dream is a permanent unit and Mark is allowed to come back and do songs and promotions with them too.
