As a longtime follower of FCIAC football, I knew our conference would stack up against anyone.
😒😔 I will go as far as saying how disappointed I was that Newtown won the Class LL state title in 2019 against Darien. Quite frankly, the better team lost.
Newtown always had an overrated football team over the course of their history in the SWC and their state championship win in 2019 over Darien was proof of that.
Reminder to Coach Pattison and Newtown players: Just like every team in the FCIAC isn't a fan of Darien, New Canaan, Greenwich and St. Joes, it's an obvious fact because of the rivalries.
I can easily make the case that every rival school in the SWC isn't a fan of your Nighthawks. That much is obvious.
Weston has my respect for winning their Class M title in 2019. They won with humility, class and great sportsmanship. They're a program that understands what a great honor it is to win a state title.
Newtown, can you say that about your program?
Your head coach, coaching staff and administration get a tip of the cap for beating Darien. However, your program's disregard of winning with class and respect leaves a lot to be desired. Your program is in dire need in learning what what it takes to win with honor, humility and true sportsmanship when you win a game and a Class LL title in football and all your sports. Learn what it means to be humble when you win and lose.
I have a gut feeling that says your team will miss the 2021 Class LL state football playoffs. Humility and great sportsmanship speaks 📣 volumes in all sports. Especially in football and winning state titles.
