I was gonna argue so hard since even the non westernized chinese food in the states are always a joke compare to Vancouver and Toronto let alone in Asia. But then I realize you are talking about Asian food not just Chinese food and in terms of variety not just the ceiling. Then it make sense cause certain type of asian food are almost completely missing in those areas due to people being extremely spoiled

SGV, South Bay, and Orange County altogether are amazing spots for food in general, love seeing these kind of topics come up

We like to rep the SGV but I don't know if we'd say it has the best food in THE WORLD. What the SGV DOES have is the highest concentration of good Asian food in a relatively small, accessible urban area. You can have bomb hot pot, solid boba milk tea, and premium omakase all within a few blocks of each other. It's the Asian melting pot. That's the SGV's strength!

As a native 626 citizen, now in San Diego, no where else compares to SGV Asian food (particularly Chinese and Vietnamese). Hands down.

SGV has the best variety of Asian food. Don't know if it's the absolute best though, but with this many choices, our standards can be higher.
Ryan's right, we don't even think about it. It's just normal food to us

Since the pandemic, I am very protective of my favorite restaurants. It’s probably only 10 spots I have on rotation. They get my money, I get to see them stay in business. Then there are places my family and friends suggest or want to try out and then I’ll go try it. Keep that top 10 near your heart.

I wouldnt say SGV, i would say in SoCal we have the best mix of asian food compared to most places. Usually all within an hr drive. I think SGV is mainly just korean, chinese, and little bit of japanese. Most viet, laos, thai, and filipino food isnt in sgv, they do have some places though

I think Melbourne, Australia likely has the same variety of Asian food per sq foot in the city due to the compactness of downtown without having to drive like the SGV. There are plenty of SE Asian and Chinese immigrants in Melb as well.

Sorry, best Chinese food in N America is in Vancouver, BC. Or 905 area code of Toronto (Richmond Hill/ Markham). Period. Better than SGV, SF, NYC, etc.

In America, yes but in the world, hell no. The food in Tier 1 Chinese cities shit on the SGV across the board - quality, price, ambience. I’m from the 626 too.

Please don't h8te me, but I feel SGV/626 has the most convenient variety of Asian food compared to Asia even. I grew up in Los Angeles, but I still love Asia.

Thailand's has the most inauthentic Chinatown. in fact all the Chinese food in Thailand sucks! including the Hotpot restaurants and they don't even need to cook that lol Honestly guys don't waste your money on the Chinese food here.

The 626 area does have the most variety, but I wouldn't call it the best. You're just more likely to find something good due to the sheer number of them. However, I wouldn't say they are all great either. Most places just have have one thing that's better. Ji Rong Peking Duck is another big one in the area, but if you like your duck with a bit of meat like I do, then they're terrible. I'd take Duck House's Three Way Duck over it any day. Not to mention their other dishes are of significantly lower quality. A lot of places like Henry's Cuisine, JJ, Thai Purple, Savoy Kitchen, and countless others serve surprisingly mid to awful Hainan Chicken. Ho Kee Cafe's bbq is surprisingly bad. Monterey Palace Restaurant has good bbq except the duck, but many of the other dinner stuff is mid.
I would take Bao Dim Sum House over Lunasia any day as well. Lunasia's dinner quality is also awful the last time I went. More style than substance on that end.
