    Thank you Andy Andrews! Amazing job! I love to see the people finished asking and turning to telling the government what's up

    I don't have as much of an issue with the helicopters as many of my neighbors, but I will say that there is a stark and unconscionable difference between what is allowed for the tourists in the helicopters, and what is allowed for the residents on the ground. Residents on the ground in Leilani aren't free to walk, bike, or drive around our neighborhood without fear of being ticketed. Residents also can receive tickets for taking pictures of the volcano and the lava river. Yet non-residents can freely fly above our neighborhood and take pictures unfettered. How can this difference be reconciled from a legal, moral, fundamental fairness, or public policy standpoint?

    • @janetairlines1351
      @janetairlines1351 6 років тому +1

      Justin Barnes there's a youtuber who lives in leilani and does daily updates. Today he stood right on the banks of the lava river and uploaded it. How is he not getting tickets, but others are?

      Justin Barnes/The “difference” is that the sky is “open for business” & the land is a smoldering fire pit.So sad,I’m sorry this is happening.

      Anyone who KNOWS Puna can go see the lava anytime they want. They don't drive to it they hike to it. But yea mostly haoles in Zone 1, why? Maybe someone know mo betta? I wouldn't move into a neighborhood with steaming vents in them. Google the Steam Vent Inn on 130, this isn't a knew thing.
      Only for those who moved there for CHEAP land.

      Justin Barnes There’s a case going to court soon which challenges Paradise Tour Helicopters right to violate someone’s airspace.
      You own the land, the land below and the airspace above your property. Long Island NY got the bastids to fly water routes (not over ppls houses), that’s goal on Hawai’i island, the tours should fly a water route.
      Paradise Helicopters is singled out bc they’re not water safety compliant, Blue Hawaii (helicopter tours) is. Blue Hawaii can fly a water route, but won’t if Paradise doe$ not. Water routes are more expensive (fuel).

    So amusing to watch all the Talmadge Magno worship that goes on in these comments yet when you hear from the people actually experiencing this eruption it seems they have a different opinion of how he has responded to the issues they are experiencing.

    The absolute arrogance of this Civil Defence representative astounds me. The arrogant dismissive attitude toward the civilians rights is shocking. Something really stinks here....but I wonder if he, his Department, his Mayor understand that it is now stinking on the world stage.
    Outrageous behaviour. Sad....I feel sorry for the residents that are stuck in this mess. I don't care what race they are. They are tax paying home owners who deserve better than this convoluted, double talking, dismissive, official.

    If the situation changed wouldn't the sirens sound and everyone would know? Why can't there be "residents and helpers only" zone? That could be a pass that could be renewed monthly. This would work well for delivery trucks, construction crews, utility workers, home health care, and family members.
    I agree with the third speaker. There needs to be a clearly marked "NO ZONE" around fissure 8 for LAND AND AIR. What's good for one is good for all.
    No Hawaii resident in any subdivision should have tourists running thru it. They drive too fast and carelessly for pets being walked or children playing AND they blatantly don't follow the most basic requests like not blocking driveways with their cars and littering.
    Leilani Subdivision is not a freak show. It's a community trying to heal and rebuild and regain SOME of it's former serenity and dignity.

    Looting happens when coverage by policymakers at night. These looters go on their sprees when they won't be caught. 24 hour coverage is necessary and should be constant, door to door!

    If it's Civil Defense's job to make sure everyone is safe then they damn sure should be in charge of making sure the WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK. Water is the most basic form of life's necessity. Food, shelter, clothing, in that order. I'm not even from or living in Hawaii and I could strangle that little Napoleon as wipe control freak. If his house had been covered by lava or burned to the ground I'm sure he would have a different approach. I'm so glad the People Of Lalaine wrote the letter and hope they sue the gov't and win. #TeamLalaine

    Policies can and should be changed based on the will of the people. That being said, these policies are in place because of the litigious, nanny state society we live in. The bottom line is the government is afraid of getting sued and the inevitable public outcry if someone were to get hurt.

      Hawaiian first? So all those other people in the room who are suffering due to this eruption are insignificant because of the color of their skin? He's a racist moron, a white man who's ashamed of his own culture and will sell out his own people to try and be accepted by the natives, pathetic. As for saying there are people other than the government who can build roads, the guy just confirms he's a fool, you need specialized skills to build roads, what's going to happen if mistakes are made and somebody is hurt or even killed, is he okay with them suing his stupid ass for damages?

    Your roof catches the pollutants in the air, the rain washes it into your catchment tank via your rain gutters. It's been true for 50 years. If you choose to live with a catchment tank, you accept this. Like the speaker said, the UH has resources to help you understand the health hazards.

    • @veronicasuestarlite4080
      @veronicasuestarlite4080 6 років тому

      According to Civil Defense it's their job to keep the people safe. Safe = hazards. Hazards = air and water. It's CD's job. And they fail again.

    1) The “letter” = Condemnation and Insurance Proceeds Sample Clauses
    Must read --> www.lawinsider.com/clause/condemnation-and-insurance-proceeds
    I really really like Roy - if there is question of administrative trust - trust Roy
    but don’t throw the letter away
    assessment regarding taxes in the Leilani Estates is null with 0 dollar value - this by nature of circumstance extorts the property owners ability to exercise “fair” equity in any and all financial capacities , except with FEMA , state or county - I have seen flourishing fruits growing and no evidence to support condemnation- .
    Consideration of reference: if worse case senerio exsisted fema cap apox 30,000 hence property should have base assesment as it stands currently
    1) safety : direct and indirect -
    Direct -
    I agree with civil as to all protocols currently in place
    Indirect - air / water and human heath
    SO2 and acid rain has been dialog consistently - however only in vague reference in volcanic hazards published by usgs in 2017 and republished in 2018 is there mention of heavy metal exposure risk
    To date no public mention has been made to risks to the general public regarding heavy metal aerosols in the vog
    Public scientific references

    Mayor has arranged free soil and water testing - residents need to participate in this
    records.hawaiicounty.gov/Weblink/1/doc/95369/Page1.aspx
    Mercury is released by most volcanoes and has been measured at Kilauea, Mauna Loa, Hekla, Erebus, at Mount St. Helens (Siegel and Siegel, 1987). Kilauea produces about 270 tons of mercury each year and has been identified as the source for mercury on Oahu, 320 km away.
    volcano.oregonstate.edu/book/export/html/151
    Resident need to make there stand now regarding condemnation- and there heath and if they have been impacted by fallout
    This requires going to Hilo and getting a blood test that is for metals
    If you have metal toxicity then there is an argument to be made on behalf of public not being made aware of all fallout hazards
    Special sessions is about to ask for 550 million
    Residents need to have there future also included in this money

    All those stupid questions from people thinking they can go back. Thinking they can escape the lava when a new flow occurs, surrounding their property and closing in on them.
    In case a sudden disaster happens, you will be more then happy to hear the sound of a hovering helicopter above you for a rescue.

      Chris Tee you don't know what you're going on about. Even when the people are allowed back to their homes they are forced to stat in their homes. They cannot walk their dog, visit a neighbor, mow their lawn, nothing.
