16:26 should have rotated the tile so you capped off the first keep and created a second keep and place your man on it. Same number of long term points, and an easier opportunity for short term points This is my favorite iteration of Carcasonne too. Those bonus tiles REALLY keep the game going, and stops people from just doing a multiplayer solitaire of "I build a giant keep over here, you build a giant keep over there". It makes it a race, and it encourages long term AND short term. Great game
Question. At 24:00 Jen closes the road and by doing so she closes your house....but there's also a single space Castle that is closed, right? What happens to that castle?
Are you referring to the Court space (the green part in the middle)? if so nothing happens, Courts are only scored at the end of the game if I'm not mistaken
Based on your excellent run-through I immediately searched the online retailers/ebay/BGG to try to buy the game, but it's really hard to track down a copy :( PS I'm nominating this video for having the most uses of the phrase "Go on ahead" :)
Simon Goodwin Maybe you should try ebay.de. There are plenty copies for sale all the time and some are boxed as new. Maybe you find someone who ships to your location.
Martin Herkenrath Thanks Martin, I'll bear that in mind next time I'm struggling to find a copy of a game in the UK, as I managed to buy a second hand copy of Carc the Castle from Switzerland :)
Not sure if it's the same as the inns and cathedrals (I think) expansion, but yes you get two points per road, but only if the road is completed. If it does not get completed by the end of the game, then the road is worth 0 points 8:12
17:47 It's even worse, he could have placed the tile there so that both the house and the castle score. That's 6 points, just enough to score the tile on the wall!
First, awesome run through. We watched all segments. Question: If a knight is already on an incomplete tower and a tile is placed which completes the tower and road on the same play, can you place the herald on the road ( and score it) and also score the tower at the same time., on the same play?
Just bought this game. Rule question that seems uncovered in the book. If I have two of the exact same bonus tile that allows scoring of some feature (i.e., house), can I use BOTH bonus tiles to score the exact same best-scoring house I have? Or do I have to use one bonus tile for my best scoring house and the other bonus tile for my second best scoring house?
unfortunately, as i understand it, no one knows for sure, and the developers have never commented, frustratingly. here's a thread about it on boardgamegeek: www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/233530/scoring-multiple-wall-tile-bonuses
how do you play it? my thought would be to mitigate luck by saying you cannot use both tiles on the same feature -- you have to use another feature for the second scoring. But I have not played it yet -- just speculating!
With the bonus tiles always going to whoever's ahead and gets them first, how does the game not snowball out of control in the favor of whoever gets the starting advantage?
Jaqen if one player lets the other player collect all the tiles, they'll surely lose. it's a 2p only game, and there's LOTs of tiles, so there's ample opportunity for each player to get their share :)
Wait so can you put a second meeple on a house or keep that already has a meeple on it? I don't think you made that clear ;) Sorry .. I tease because I love, and I love this game and you and your vids :) Now lets see some Imperial Settlers + Why can't we be friends! I believe it now has enough carebearconflict to definitely work for you two ... possibly .... maybe!
We had a Dutch version with no rules. Your videos were just what we needed to learn how to play properly. Thanks a bunch

Thanks for doing a run through of this game...I have been wondering how it plays differently from the base game :)
Can't wait to get the game, saw it on the used rack at my local FLG...put it on reserve :) Thanks for the Runthrough!

Now we just need South Sea, Gold Rush, City and plenty other Carcs to complete the special set!...pretty please!
This looks like a cool Carc variant, too bad it's out of print. Some of the older variants seem to be coming back in print though so fingers crossed!
11:26 For me, that first placement would have been a better one. Am I completely mad ?
i think it could go either way :)

ChabuFier NOOOOOO!!!!!! :)
counted wrong she needs more :-(
ChabuFier YEEESSSSSS!!!! :)

The thing you keep calling a "keep" is actually a tower, right? Didn't see that corrected in the Klingon, but I might have missed it. :)
20:40 That would be 6 points, not 3, which would be TOO much. If she closed it off without adding, it would be 4 points which WOULD be enough

Alex M the designer of IS told me directly at Essen that we wouldn't enjoy it, so I was willing to take his word :)
Who's jen? 🤷🏽♂️
