what i keep learning is that no matter how big your tank is, you are going to get fish too big for it. I did the same when i had "big" tanks.

I love how Josh puts on his WWE Announcer voice when he narrates these things. LOL Man, my heart was in my throat watching this one. Whew-ee, Sir! Great work. That was a tough job and as scary as it looked, probably the least damage to the fish, all things considered. Could have been much worse and taken way longer. Poor thing must be so stressed out but this too shall pass. Now praying the big boys accept him in the pool when the time comes.
What I like is that you showed the trouble and him jumping out because it’s not always smooth moving large fish I respect that great job 👏🏻

He left awhile ago. He got too big and we rehomed him. I always have public displays waiting for large arapaima
Glad to see Arapima getting rescued but the hobby really needs to put pressure on sellers to stop selling these. Maybe .5% of fish keepers have a tank big enough for these. Id say they are worse to keep then Pacu.

Yes it's always a worry but he won't be in there long. Just need to get him healthy enough for the monster pond

There is no best method respectfully.
The sock was easier out of the transit pond for sure.
Forsure, it's a case by case scenario. Someone might not want their tank drained. Accesss cpuld be limited. You do what's best given the parameters

I know the pool can hold like 10 if yall wanted but I feel like 4 should be the cap as far as the number of Pima you keep for the pool, itd lose some of its natural ascetic with too many in there
I really only wanted the 2, but Casey is a good friend so I told him I'd toss his boy in there. Other arapaimas I rehome.

Arapima like both Beta/Crowntails/Arowanas are known as *Labyrinth Fish* they have both *gills&lungs* meaning they can use either one or switch back and forth. Lungfish are similar to to the fish in anatomy as well however,they are in the "family" of catfish genus and eels(but they can survive many many months without water 💦 cause the endocrine slime thats formed from their own mucus membrane..

Arapaima soon to be the pacu of the hobby!! They really should not be in the hobby!! 😢
Unfortunately most of them don't reach adulthood
They are actually illegal to own in most states so no where close to pacu
@@adonnewsome7051that’s good to know. But I’am sure as the rescue is a good place for them they will get over run at some point and end up with no where to keep them/rehome them just like the pacu.
@@Simply4Aquatics we work with many public aquariums. They are a hot item so I rehome them fairly easy.
It's the giants that get hard to transport and you can't ship

He had a nice home. But long term he needs the pool pond. So best he got moved now as in a years time moving him would be dangerous

Been a week and I miss him everyday not being in my tank it’s completely empty now without seals 😔
@wheresthefish8910 I know and you will and i know Seals will enjoy it when he gets in the pool but what i love about him is how he comes to the glass like he's saying hello you know well he can come to the side of the pool but you will see the top view and not the front view and i'm sure Casper misses him too 😏

Casey, that was among the weirdest *explanations* of a pet's name I ever heard. It's gotta be up there with, I named my second son Bill because he was born the same week that our gas bill came in the mail.

Was for his own good. He is in larger holding pond and doing awesome. Will heal up a bit then go to the monster pond where he can live out his life 🥰. Other arapaima I just rwhome because I already have 2. But this is a dear friend of mine so I told him I'd keep him around and if he gets his big pond built he can take it back one day.
Brutus is probably going to kill Seal,maybe with Bruisers help

Really weird that most of us know 75G not enough for 1 Oscar but how are fish experts keeping these monster fishes in these small space. It does not matter how clean the water is.
