Great videos thanks, just put my mandolin to one side and bought a fiddle -and loving it! For the chords you can take any note in the scale of the tune you want to play, and to play IT'S fifth you play the next string higher at the same 'fret'. To play IT'S fifth below which sometimes sounds better, you just play the lower string two frets up. And to play it's third, you play the lower string one fret down OR if you want to play it as a minor chord (or minor double stop as fiddlers call it) then you play your note along with the lower string note two frets down. If you think of it in terms of position you don't even have to know if it's E or D sharp whatever. I really appreciate the vids thanks again.

I wish there was a Go-Pro mounted so you can see the bow on the strings - the angles

... or if you wish a I and a IV whitch is also a chord. As long as you don't specify the III, it can be either major or minor.

Thank you for excellent videos - I have learned a lot in a small space of time. Didn't quite get the B major chord. Do we need 7th chords like B7?

    • @fiddl3hed

Hard to play four notes on the violin. Try an arpeggio or just leave out a note or two, depending. Use your ears. The tune will help decide what sounds right.

Hi Fiddlehed, Thanks for all your hard work teaching us tricks. What strings do you use, here's a nice list that I can choose from, www.violincompany.co.uk/strings.php have you tried any of these ? I prefer a warm sound. PS is there any NEW Videos of you playing Gigs that we can access on youtube ?

Why do I need to know the word: Power Chord? Why is the word important? Gives it some extra meaning besides that I know that the chord consists of a I and a V, isn't that enough to know? Otherwise you teach good stuff. Thank's
