- This recording was created from a recording by Joplin in 1916 one year prior to his death in 1917. It was recorded at a Connorized studio with a marking master and was later punched to piano roll.
I have taken a scan from that piano roll which was converted to MIDI and created this using modern piano samples and mastering techniques applied for your listening pleasure.

Soy mexicano, y voy a admitir que me encanta este Rag, tiene una estructura única a comparación de otras composiciones de Scott Joplin. Muy admirable de verdad. Quisiera aprender a tocarlo algún día.
También trataré de ir más allá en este mundo del Ragtime, quiero algún día ser reconocido dentro de este mundo, aún si me encuentro muy lejos de los festivales de Ragtime, haré lo posible por asistir, quiero mantener este género
Como vas?
Magnetic Rag is a very attractive piece.
Pure genius.
I don't believe Joplin could have cut this in 2016, his hands were too affected by his syphilis by then. Also, the "jazzing up" of a rag as is done here was one of the things he railed against, since he wanted his compositions to be taken seriously, as is done with classical music. Makes a nice story (urban legend?), but hard to swallow.
Apparently he recorded this but it was edited because it sounded horrible.
He definitely would have struggled by 2016.
He couldn't have cut this in 2016 cause he was definitely dead by then
@@hazyshade9648...goog one😊
It was likely edited, but it is certainly genuine.
I love it so much.
People are going to be misled by your title. This is not a recording, you cut piano rolls, you don't record them. It doesn't have actual sound on it. Your title should be, magnetic rag, piano roll cut by the composer, 1916. This would be accurate as everyone knows Jocelyn didn't make any records.

No he didn’t make any recordings, but he did make 6 rolls for the Connorized music roll co. And one for Aeolian co.
@@SQUAREHEADSAM1912 Which songs were those for?

He absolutely was not in his prime when this was made, you're right. Also, to add, this is a midi version of a pianola roll recording that is also not SJ.
