I love that your phrasing is sort of always in "between the notes", which makes it sound organic and voice-like. Adding all those little dynamic fluctuations, rhythmic counterpoints, vibrato, playing around with intensity levels, with a pick, fingerstyle or hybrid and you start having your own voice on the instrument. You definitely stand out how you gel it all together in a natural way. Nice playing. BB, Clapton, Gilmour, Mayer would be proud.

Hey! I just foud out about your channel today I've been playing for two years almost, and ive been looking for guitar guides for my level. And your video answered way more of my questions then anything I saw recently and even exposed me to new things I even didn't know about (such as mods!)

Great video. It really shows why your solos sound so good. For myself I pulled together a plan but I'd love to know if you've got any suggested exercises to help me achieve some of these, especially for the first point. Whilst I know my chords and can figure out chord tones and arpeggios, getting it fluent whilst improvising seems so far away.
1. Be able to follow changes, use chord tones to improve solo.
2. Be more deliberate with pick direction, try different directions and using them more stylistically than economically.
3. Sing solos to make them more lyrical.
4. Learn favourite solos by listening to them and transcribing them myself.
5. Go over solos I know and make sure I can play them perfectly.
6. Rewrite/rephrase solos I know/have written.
7. For songs where I improvise solos, have a plan to ensure more consistency with how good they are.

YES, at the end that’s exactly what I’ve always told everyone (students, audience, bandmates, etc) for decades-we’re not guitarists, we’re musicians… and the most important tool/skill we have is our ear! It’s the most valuable thing you can develop… Really loved your tips and hearing your perspective. You have great touch/feel, and expression!

Lol, you play the pentatonic as an example of what it lacks, but what you played still sounds great.
Lol! Yeah the pentatonic has all “correct” notes so it will sound good, but there’s a lot more colors we can access when we use the full- 7 note version of the minor scale, as well as harmonic and melodic minor, etc. Thank you for watching!
As a guitarist who likes Steve Vai and Yngwie i would say the biggest lie i've ever been told is that practicing a part slowly means that you can play it fast eventually.
Practing fast solos at a slower speed just means you will engrain all the mistakes that occur from playing what was composed as a fast lick into your muscle memory. Just like string hopping instead of slanting your pick in an angle across the strings for better economy of motion.
So just practicing smaller parts of the solo at a speed where your playing starts to get sloppy is a much better idea cause you can easily identify what mistakes your are making and correct them.
Why do youtubers always jack the volume of the guitar so much higher than the narration???
Focusing on motif and thematic development in solos holds far greater significance than merely outlining chord tones.
Yes this is true! But it’s important to know how to target chord tones. Once we have that knowledge, we can make more informed and intentional choices with our improvisation.

Could we play Gm pentatonic on that passage? G Dm7?
Gm pentatonic will not work as all the notes will be essentially 1 whole step below the “correct notes”. Playing G mixolydian- (C major notes) will give you the correct notes. From there you can decide to follow or not follow that scale!

Whoever told you this "lies" must be a gardener or a butcher. I strongly recommend not to believe non-musicians. Otherwise you will hear those kind of misinformation a lot.
you need to fix the mix, the guitar is really loud and your voice is barely audible
