Those seats are simply breathtaking. They go so well with the exterior color.

Besides the love of all your trucks, whenever I watch these videos, I feel like I’m on the set of every movie, tv show or commercial ever filmed.
Those mountain valley roads are iconic.

I hate that I say this every time you build something new, but... this is my favorite! The color! The color is perfect! The entire spec is so well done and tasteful, my new dream car!

The people who dislike this video and this beautiful rolling art should be publicly flogged with wet spaghetti noodles. That 0-60 time translates to approx 12.2 second quarter miles. Yowza.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the most beautifully and tastefully executed build I've ever seen you review on the channel - and given your phenomenal standards for ICON...well, it's beyond words. An absolute class act of a truck by a class act of a guy.

For whatever reason, the one thing that keeps drawing my eye on this truck is that headliner. The headliner is just magnificent, well the truck in general is magnificent. There are a few tweaks here and there that I would have done differently, but this truck is nicely done. Absolutely beautiful.

Being a 50s Chevy truck nut these are my favorite ICON's over even the FJ Land Cruisers! My first ever vehicle at 16 that I bought for 500 hard earned bucks was a 1950 three on the tree and I've owned a 51, 52, 53 and 54 and restored and sold them all. The 53 was the best of the bunch in my case. God I'd love to have that truck back and have this done to it! That is the dream truck right there! Great job once more guys!

I love what you and your team do with these Trucks and I agree with you on the ride height. From aesthetics, it just looks right at that height and with those particular wheel diameter to tire side wall ratio. If I ever come into big money... I'll give you a call.

    Excellent.
But the tail lights are upside down.

The bear claw kit that you are using is a pain to get correct as you stated, they are close but not close enough. After spending hours and hours trying to get them to not rattle I have gone back to stock latches on all our projects. Great videos and projects especially the derelicts. After 40 plus years of building and working on expensive hot rods, I have decided to build my 54 Studebaker truck in derelict fashion so I can enjoy it and not worry about paint!

Mag-freaking-nificent! The innovations to the bed were of particular interest. Has GM ever considered reoffering this? They probably would ruin it, now that I think about it. Congratulations to you and your team on a fine automobile!

Yakky Doodle sadly with modern safety requirements dictating so many of a vehicles dimensions GM couldn’t build this again even if they wanted to. Mr Ward gets to make this kind of awesome because the original chassis was built before those regulations existed.

Chevy Thriftmasters ran 47-55, not 47-53 Mr. Ward. That being said, I wish I were wealthy enough to have you build one for me. Your TR crew does very nice work. I'd rather drive one of these, than a Corvette.

Also, if you want to do a Derelict Thriftmaster, I'd look into the '54-'55 Chevy "First Series" trucks. Same truck, just slightly different in some design aspects. Curved windshield, cross-hair grille, and a couple other differences. Pretty rare, and would make a killer Derelict.

How about a tonneau for the pickup bed? Anything clever that doesn't have ugly snaps everywhere? Curious why you didn't put leather on the steering wheel this time? Do you prefer the gloss exterior or the satin? The wood on the bed (charcoal process) is very much like the "torrification" process used on a lot of custom guitar necks. It makes the wood less likely to rot, etc., but the wood is also more brittle.

Why stamp the icon on the tailgate? You can beadroll that and way more complicated designs with an electric bead roller at about 1.5k. Other than that, the truck is amazing.

    • @BenLeBlanc1
      @BenLeBlanc1 6 років тому

Jonathan Ward correct- I guess the better statement would be “why not stamp”. Using a bead roller could get your custom logo in the panel- unless you are just more after the etched look anyways. Great truck though- gives me some great ideas!
