The diesel version was just called "ST tdci" The ST200 was the mk2 modeo.. Apart from that little nit pick, enjoy the car Martin, I had the ST tdci and it was and still is, the best all round car I've ever had.. Great looks, great handling, and great power.. even for as diesel.. I did drive the 3.0 V6 ST that a friend had, which was very nice and powerful, but very very thirsty.. I eventually got rid of mine, as it was getting on and becoming a money pit.. but i do miss it..

Lovely car Martin, you may already know but keep an eye on the rear bumper as the rear of the bumper tends to sag which makes the front go up and hits the wheel arch which in turn cracks the paint, mine started to do it just before I sold it, you can easily tell by looking at the chrome strip on the lights to make sure the bumper is level with the chrome strip plus by the line along the rear quarter, from what I can tell yours looks ok. I paid £9k for mine but it was only a couple of years old, good advise on doing the checks, I always do an HPI check on all my cars. The moosing does sound like a resonance and it always seems to be at around 2000rpm, hope you get it sorted.

Made sence to do and help others out in the process, ive not had the moosing noise yet ive spent so much on the engine brakes and suspension. Got loads more planned for mine, will be doing a clutch change and tempted to strip the engine and do a rebuild on it. Moosing - The previous Mondeo with the Duratec 2.5 V6 also did it, but usually only at idle. The cause on this engine is the bellows pipe between the throttle body and the air filter. They are fine when new, but over time the rubber hardens, so when airflow reaches a certain speed, the air oscillates. The official Ford fix was a replacement pipe, but I guess they are difficult to find now. So if the idle control valve doesn't fix it, that's where to look next.
Great car though, I'm jealous - perfect colour, Recaro leather, looks really well kept and just old enough for the cheaper tax too. I would also go back to silver wheels. Those engines are limo smooth below 3500rpm, above that rpm the secondary inlet valves open up and it goes into sports car mode. On the motorway you should see 40+mpg at normal motorway speeds. Incidentally, this engine was designed by Porsche for Ford, and Cosworth developed the cylinder heads. They love being revved, especially in tunnels...

The 'wing mirrors' that you have mentioned a couple of times are not actually 'wing mirrors'. They are 'door mirrors'. Older cars had 'wing mirrors' when they were fitted to wings. Some years ago (2009/2010) I was running a manual E39 528i, that was in for some work and I got to borrow a friend's Mk3 Mondeo.
I was really impressed with it. I think the steering feel was better than the E39's. It was a very enjoyable drive and it was just a mid-spec (Zetec, I think) with the 2.0 petrol engine.
My only two criticisms of the Mondeo were:
    - Road noise was a bit on the high side.
    - Brake pedal needed a very firm shove to get it to slow.

Martin There were a couple of air venturi issues from new. The air box butterfly shaft wares slightly creating that noise. The other is its giving a false reading and fighting to stay closed as it seems to be just above tick over. I cant mind if you have a ECU reader/fault clearer. Might clean up as could be stuck from lack of use... If not fit a new unit. That is a cracking car and the only colour to have. Yes wheels look pants white. good luck

the noise clearly has to be induction related - most more modern petrol engines have a kind of 'expansion chamber' in the intake system to act as a capacitor to eliminate induction pulses from each cylinder on the induction stroke - it might be that on this engine the induction tracts start to resonate (vibrate) at certain revs' - I'm not familiar with these engines but if you can try testing with the whole intake system removed it will prove positive that the design is the cause?

You would have loved my MK3 Granada Scorpio, white with full RS bodykit, aftermarket gas struts, big white German aftermarket wheels, full black leather interior, the big monty 2.9 V6 with the thirstier injectors but 24v, had a XR4i whaletale bodged onto the rear spoiler and it was like wet sh... off a shovel, swapped it for a Supra which turned out to be an utter tu*d, water got into the leccies and them Supras don't like wet leccies and it ran only in limp mode grr The Cosworth Scorpio was my grail Ford, well MK1 Coupe and Ghia saloon prob up there but them 32v Cossie engines were brutal, abs brutal and a real 7 series beemer basher lol It wouldn't surprise me if the tech for your V6 had a fair bit of input from the 2.9 Cossie's, strange how they fitted 'em only to the Granada and not the Sierra, just been drooling over a South African XR8 Sierra, the full 5 litre Windsor stuffed into a light Sierra body, that must go like the plague is in town.... the South African 3.0 Cortina's and 5.0 Cortina's are droolworthy, used by the SA police with custom body kit and proper Mad Max interceptor sort of fing going on.

Brilliant vid as usual Martin but is the steering wheel straight or is it just the camera making it look like it isn't straight when driving in a straight line

It's always worth having an HPI check done (which is essentially what that website you linked to do, there are loads of similar services). For me, it has brought up a car that had finance on it, and also one that had been written off (the owner got really shitty when I pointed this out and didn't believe me).
I also always say that people should ALWAYS take someone with them who knows something about cars to look it over, or pay someone to do it. It may sound harsh, but I have no sympathy for anyone who doesn't, then throws their toys out the pram when something goes wrong, or something was obvious. Seen it happen too many times now :(

I have a 06 Lincoln Zephyr with the same engine and it has the common problem of a leaking timing cover. Hope yours doesn't, it's a hell of a job I'm afraid.

Hi Martin in my opinion finance check is a must if you have paid £50 or £5000 and the car is on finance you do not own the car if the last owner stops paying the finance you will loose your car and the money you paid .
