I had exactly the same leak in the same place. Very common issue. I ended up wrapping the whole joint in that rubberised self amalgamating tape . Never an issue after. Thanks for the nice content.
I'm an olde akool vw owner. Missus has mk3, loads of non working stuff even her so called mechanic brother could solved. This was one she said ha snot worked for 10 years. 10 mins and located in exact same spot as yours. Though no need to completely remove panel, just 2 screws and gently lever away whilst reconnect pipe. Got to learn alot more about the ford's because of you. Cheers fella
@@retrorestore A lot of cars have a triangle shaped area near the top of the windshield the wipers don't reach that sends a trail of water down the glass as soon as the wipers are parked. Martin you are the man. The same thing has happened to my st. I couldn't be arsed to look at it but now i know how easy it is itl be getting done this weekend. Cheers man
It was exactly this, I was wondering why I was hearing a trickling sound when I tried to use it and why my spare tyre well was always soaked. I never would have thought to check this!
My rear window washer has never worked since i got the car. Used you video to remove pannel, (pulled pannel towards the front to unhook it) and water pipe was out of the R/A elbo, as per yours. (Must be a common fault). Did your trick with the cable tie. Now my rear washer works OK. Many thanks Martin.
So happy I discovered your excellent video. I have exactly this problem with my MK 3 Zetec S. I'll have a go but not very technically minded. Many thanks!
Hi Martin, top job 👍🏻.Common fault on all mk3 Mondeo hatch and estates. I put a cable tie around the tube 5 years ago. No problems since then. I also changed the jet for a mk4 mist type jet. You can buy them for £8 to £12 new on Ebay. Much better that the old spray type jets. A good upgrade is also to replace the fnt heated washers jets, with Ford Focus mist type heated jets. I did mine some time ago, u need to lenghten the wires as the Focus ones are shorter, easy enough to do.👍🏻
My dad sold his 54 plate mondeo to a friend of mine 11 years ago. I helped him clean it out as my dad was a messy fisherman. We found exactly the same problem you had. I reconnected it and added a tie wrap it lasted about 6 years until the car was scrapped 👍
Not working on my MK4 Mondeo since I bought it 4 years ago. Will spend Paddy's weekend trying your troubleshooting. Thanks Martin! Might also explain the front windows fogging up so much 'cos so much dampness in the car.
Martin its been frozen and somebody has kept on trying it and it gave way at the weakest point mate will be fine in the winter i only use top grade washer fluid from my automotive dealer undiluted down to -20 c as ive been were your are no friend never had no more problems keep your vids coming PS the amount of chocked pumps i cleared with people putting fairy liquid in bottle went like clay lol
You've doomed me Martin ! I went out today and my rear washer ain't working 😂 I shall investigate tomorrow hopefully it's just a bit of dirt in the hole which I shall put a pin in. Lol. If worst case least your video will help me out 😉😆
Great video, mines fixed but I’ve buggered the rear jet up I think, as it won’t sit flush on the tailgate now. Oh well only a few quid for a new one. The rear quarter trim was blue on the inside thanks to the screen wash in there, I imagine the airbag is blue now too 😂
I had them come appart just put a small cable tie round it just as you did yourself. It's the best way to fix it normally happens when the nossles get blocked believe it or not I have done a few of these people leave the car's under tree's. A lovely day down there with you. 👍
Hi Martin. I had this problem a while ago put wire round pipes to secure also fitted mk 4 rear screen washer as flow was poor on mk 3 one. Since then had no problem best wishes
Good quick fix, cable tie will probably do the job I have done similar in the past. It seemed a bit of a poor design to have the right angle on that joint a curved piece would have been much better. Good video 🙂👍
Check your door membranes as well. The butyl goes hard over time and let’s water through. Happened on most of the Mondeo I’ve owned and will cause the windows to mist up as well 👍🏻🤓
I have this issue. I removed the panel and reconnected the joint. I removed the spray head and it was fine, and water comes through. Once I clipped the head back on, it stops. I’m thinking there is a kink in the pipe. Would shortening the pipe remedy this?
Where did you get your trim removal kit martin? I could do with one like that, as i am starting to do stuff with the peugeot 306. Looking at how that may have failed, that could have worked loose, with speed bumps over the years, and its weakened the joint, and its popped off. These do make a nasty mess, my dads land rover defender headlining was destroyed on one side, due a leaky joint. he ended up running a full pipe with out a join, The join i think was a leak back valve thing, which my dad just binned off.
Had the same fault on my Kuga, that was caused by a blockage in the pipe where the kinked part is & blew the joint apart with pressure. I think algae or something had built up around the kink due to restriction.
Frozen washer jet in the winter, owner kept pressing the washer button, pressure built up and popped the loose joint and knackered the motor at the same time due to the excess heat in the motor !. Two problems, same cause !. Changing the motor, lead Martin to finding the second problem. Top Tip - If your washer stops working and you can hear the motor working, stop pressing the button and investigate the problem folks !. Our you could end up with another problem to sort out.
I have the same problem but water leaks from behind the upper brake light. I suspect the leak is before the nozzle. The nozzle is clear and I suspect the pipe has a split in it just before the nozzle.
Good video mate glad u found the problem Do u like them rear lights in yours had them in mine but gone of them and change then to the right ones for the correct year Also with them u Need the reflectors in the back bumper by law but can get away with it
I had this with mine. Reattached it a good 3 years ago and hasn't come off since. Seems to be a very common issue with these. I imagine it happens due to the rear jet freezing or just getting gunked up with crap
What's happening is when the water freezes over night the water left in the line expands and blows out a join..skoda suffer a lot from this....a dab of superglue and you will never have a problem again..

Absolute legend!!! Just bought a used mk3 mondeo and the rear washer wasn't working. Fixed in minutes thanks to this video 😁
It's good you don't have leakage from your rear end anymore!
I had exactly the same leak in the same place. Very common issue. I ended up wrapping the whole joint in that rubberised self amalgamating tape . Never an issue after. Thanks for the nice content.
Simple fault finding delivered in Martins usual uncomplicated way.
