The video editing is so well done! I like the different camera angels showing your reactions and the cards shown on screen whenever it was played or mentioned. I especially enjoyed the replays/recap at the end of the video. Please make more of these videos. Cheers!
Really love watching this format of videos, from L5R, through Netrunner and now this. The interaction between Zach and Steven is a great insight and what really helps us understand the nature of these games, and the themes. There really is nothing else like this available out there. Truly "Gaming Evolved". Good work guys...keep it up!
great vid, highlighting why destiny is fun. Love the effort to show the choices and great for people to see what a casual game can and should look like vs playing highly competitive games that can feel like blow outs and not so fun. great job
I had to step away from this game several years ago after my daughter was born and recently found these starters for super cheap and looking to have a fun but causal experience with them. So this video is perfect for helping to put a couple decks together to throw myself back into it.
I wanted to thank you for the nice work about Destiny. I'll start playing with a friend soon, we both purchased the 2 player set and we purchased a legacy booster box so we'll split the content and trade the cards that we don't want. I'll build up a light side deck probably and my friend a dark side so trading will be useful. I can't wait! We'll be watching this video if we'll have troubles with rules and hopefully we'll build a good deck like yours. Best luck with your work :)
Team Covenant at the end went pretty well! We found some really good cards, my friend got the maul's lightsaber which i know costs big money. I have in my hands some good characters but few dice updgrades and double control cards so i can't really complete a more serious deck. I can't wait to see the next guide about advanced deck building... I have an elite Hondo Ohnaka to fit somewhere and i can't wait. I think he's pretty good, thoughts?
Great video! Although I don't think I would ever get into this game because of its collectible nature, I enjoy watching it played. Something that has always been stuck in my mind: What does it say on Zach's mug?
You could always research the type deck type/characters you want and buy the cards for the deck individually to play. You don’t have to buy the booster packs if you want to eliminate the collectible (addictive lol) nature.
Rexler Brath The prices are set due to a) rarity and b) effect. Those aspects create the demand and alter the supply. It’s called economics. If they sold assembled decks and sold them at different prices based on the deck popularity, how would that be gambling?
Rexler Brath Regardless of the gambling point, I take issue with you saying TC only covers the game because it's collectible. The majority of their content, including the last two learn to play series are about games (L5R and Netrunner) that have no product randomization at all. Destiny is just the one collectible game they actually really enjoy.
At the 23:00 mark you remove 2 die. Can you explain why? I thought you redeem all of a certain damage at one time. You also remove an upgrade on Poe and 1 of Han's die.
Great question Tyler. When Zach removed the two ranged damage dice in order to damage Kylo, he did not remove the third ranged damage die because it has a 1 resource cost. Then, after Steven claimed the battlefield, Zach resolved the 1 resource die of the speeder upgrade, and resolved the remaining ranged damage dice.
Great stuff and another question. Why would you discard a card? Assuming it’s something you can’t use, like Stephen’s card that removes Zach’s melee dice which he didn’t have, then wouldn’t it make more sense to keep it and use it to reroll a die?
Great question Alan! This is something that we will go into a bit in our advanced deck building guide. Ultimately, every card can be discarded to re-roll dice. Having a card that can do anything is better than having a card that does nothing. Since you will not run out of cards in most games, getting rid of a card that is likely to be unable to do anything but be used for a re-roll increases the odds that you will have useful cards in your hand at any given point.
Your content are the best Destiny guides on the net. One question from a new player....in round 1, when there were 3 ranged damage dice showing, only 2 were played. Can you not resolve all 3 at once? Thanks!
Just watched through to the end and kind of answered my question. I was under the impression you could resolve all matching dice at once. So you can only resolve one type at a time with any matching modifiers, right?
And to your first question, one of the ranged damage had a resource cost and Zach did not have the resource. He had to wait until he got the resource to resolve that damage.
Ky Seegers So I roll 2 ranged, 2 ranged and +2 ranged. I can only resolve those three dice over the course of 2 actions right? (I bought the game for my 9yo son and me, and we are figuring it out.) Thank you!
thrilljammin Wait, no. You were right the first time: you can resolve all matching symbols in a single action. The reason Zack couldn't was because one of those 2 damage sides had a 1 resource cost and he had no resources. The reason he didn't get a resource first and then resolve all 3 is that Steven had a disrupt showing and doing it in the order he did allowed him to claim the battlefield.
Hi guys! Amazing content! You people are fine entertainers for sure! Listen, I wanted to ask if you could tell me... what size are your playing mats? I'd love to get one for my card/ board games, but I'm struggling with choosing the size. Yours seem about the right one. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot for the reply! Sadly I live currently in the UK, so that'd be a bit expensive for me because of shipping. But you gave me the info I needed to start looking for mats on my own, cheers!
Unfortunately we don't have those anymore, but you can find a good number of decklists on our Destiny blog page: teamcovenant.com/blogs-and-videos#/category/Star_Wars%3A_Destiny
Wait, how do you have 2 die on Han and Poe if you just used the 2 player and the other starter decks? You had to get some boosters to get the extra dice.
@@teamcovenant I've checked the link but they don't show case these 2 specific decks anymore due to standard rotation. As a suggestion, it would be great if you guys have an archive for the older decks (just the deck list alone would be awesome).
It should be in the rulebook. Passing is a strong option when you need to wait a turn and see what your opponent does, like if you are holding control cards!
Team Covenant we both really like it but I've lost three games to none so far to my other half which is absolutely shocking so I'm trying to rework or add different cards to my deck to stop him gloating, I'm considering doing a draft maybe...or buying singles...
Really enjoyed the video. The link in the description isn't working though. For anyone else looking, it's here... teamcovenant.com/learning/star-wars-destiny/beyond-starter-poe-han-kylo-boba-decks
This games confusing at times. I built a (what I was thought a killer deck) with two neutral characters because I was told I can use all 3 fractions (hero, vill, and neutral) but was told that's wrong. Then I watch you guys putting different colored cards on characters who aren't that color. So confusing to learn.
It definitely can be! The rules there are, you can only bring cards that match the color and faction of characters you have, and except for Draft, you cannot have a team with Hero and Villian on it. So you can include blue and red cards if you have Rey and Poe in your deck, but some cards say "Blue Character Only" on them, ie... Force Wave. That is the only time you are limited on where you can play a card. Let us know if you have more questions, and we hope you come to enjoy Destiny as much as we do! Cheers!
Love to see the dice row at the bottom. Always improving production value! Great work guys.

Thanks Michael! We have plenty more coming!
Just bought a bunch of destiny last week to build a few decks for my friends and I, this series is wonderful

Thanks for watching Jim!
Love this series as much as your Netrunner series. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for watching Jerry!

love the channel hope to see more on this subject
Yayy! Awesome video again guys
I really want to see more vids of you guys playing Destiny!
We really want to play more of it. Thanks for watching Anthony!

Rexler Brath Going into a store or online and buying selected single cards at prices the market sets is gambling?
Rexler Brath The prices are set due to a) rarity and b) effect. Those aspects create the demand and alter the supply. It’s called economics.
If they sold assembled decks and sold them at different prices based on the deck popularity, how would that be gambling?
Rexler Brath It isn’t theory. You can buy singles from stores and assemble your own decks. That is the advice I gave the OP.
Rexler Brath Regardless of the gambling point, I take issue with you saying TC only covers the game because it's collectible. The majority of their content, including the last two learn to play series are about games (L5R and Netrunner) that have no product randomization at all. When this started I went "No way! You're doing 3 dice vs 4?"
Goes to show..
At the 23:00 mark you remove 2 die. Can you explain why? I thought you redeem all of a certain damage at one time. You also remove an upgrade on Poe and 1 of Han's die.
Ah. Completely missed the 1 resource cost. That makes sense now.

Great series - thanks much. Which sleeves do you use? I am thinking about the white ones in this youtube-video.
We've all switched to Katanas by Ultimate Guard, and we sell them on our site: teamcovenant.com/product/katana-card-sleeves-various-colors
Please more of Destiny

Thanks a lot for the reply! Sadly I live currently in the UK, so that'd be a bit expensive for me because of shipping. But you gave me the info I needed to start looking for mats on my own, cheers!
hello! could you please fix the link to the decks used in this video? thanks! :)
Great video - so useful
Does anyone have the deck lists for these? It doesn't seem to be on the site anymore. Thanks!
Unfortunately we don't have those anymore, but you can find a good number of decklists on our Destiny blog page: teamcovenant.com/blogs-and-videos#/category/Star_Wars%3A_Destiny
I know this game won't fill the Netrunner shaped hole in my heart... but will it at least dull the pain?
Thanks for these videos, they are great.
Wait, how do you have 2 die on Han and Poe if you just used the 2 player and the other starter decks? You had to get some boosters to get the extra dice.
Sorry you used 2 starter kits. oopsy i should have waited
Subscribed...I'm digging this channel, please make more of these Destiny Videos, I'm just getting into it.
Does anyone has a deck list of these 2 specific decks? The link gives a 404 error!
Oh no, we will update the link asap! Here is a good link to that chapter: bit.ly/2Ljllnm
@@teamcovenant I've checked the link but they don't show case these 2 specific decks anymore due to standard rotation. As a suggestion, it would be great if you guys have an archive for the older decks (just the deck list alone would be awesome).
“One of your dice” is grammatically correct, as is “an opponent’s character die”
The first is plural, the second is singular
Thanks Andrew!
Hi I've got a question. Just started playing with my husband and noticed that you guys pass as an action. is that an update to the rules? Thanks
It should be in the rulebook. Passing is a strong option when you need to wait a turn and see what your opponent does, like if you are holding control cards!
Team Covenant thanks for confirming. Cheers.
Of course! How do you like the game?
Team Covenant we both really like it but I've lost three games to none so far to my other half which is absolutely shocking so I'm trying to rework or add different cards to my deck to stop him gloating, I'm considering doing a draft maybe...or buying singles...

This game has way to much randomization to employ any deep strategy.
