Duality, this isn't so much a single trait as it is two very different traits somehow being in complete harmony leading to them both being the primary trait, so rare that for hundreds of years it was thought to be merely a myth, today there is only one SOUL known to have this "Duality" outside of legends in the whole world, that being Purity and Hatred, this seems impossible at first glance but keep in mind hate isn't necessarily the desire to kill but rather the rejection of something, needless to say with this being the only recorded instance of such a SOUL only time will tell what shall become of them
Exactly, I remembered when I made ocs based on the 7 souls and I used their video to get important information out of it. Now that I'm out of that period and looking back to the 7 souls, I can really say that if I didn't discover their music then I would still struggle to flesh them out as characters.
Duality: Some souls show the fullest of a trait, some show the pain. A Duality soul is no different, similar to a neutral soul they don't pick a side to life. The only different to a neutral soul is they embrace the neutrality of life itself, Duality is a combination of both Hate and Purity. They aren't inherently good or evil, but they understand both. A Duality soul is the best example of life. You can't have only good and you can't only have evil. Life will have ups and downs, your actions can be good and evil. Some may think everything you do is good while others may think you are evil. Duality souls have the strength, and patience to understand their hate, not control it but know the limits they have, and the roll it plays. Their hate is part of them, not a strong emotion gone rogue, or infection trying to control them after a horrible experience. Their hate is just a part of them just as their purity is. They can be good and evil, help others and help themselves, but the one thing you can trust a Duality soul for is truth. They don't sugarcoat things, they don't lie to you, they won't hide things, nor will they go out of their way to make everything better then it seems. If you ask they will tell you, they will help you if you ask for it. They will tell you everything you need to hear, no matter how dark it can feel. Is it cynical, evil, maybe rude, but its still the truth. You won't see a Duality soul going around killing everyone, and you won't see them pushing everything to the limit to create the best world possible. But you can find them helping others, and at times hurting them. A Duality soul has an understanding on what true good and evil can be, and that you can't have one without the other. They know we all have some good and evil within ourselves, and no matter what, others can see our actions with good and evil intentions. They can help those who have lost their mind to Hate before its too late, and slow down those who can lose themselves to their Purity before they hurt themselves. A Duality soul would be a True Neutral run. Only fighting if you truly had to, and helping those who ask for it. They don't seek to take over, control, destroy, safe, clear, or really change the world to one or another side. They only want to show others both sides of the coin.

Duality: an instance of opposition or contrast between two concepts or two aspects of something; a dualism. Hey everyone, it's me, the one who commissioned this beautiful piece. I just wanted to share the inspiration for this wonderful song with you all. For most of my life I have been living with identity problems and I'm finally close to fully coping with them. The truth is in my head I have created a second manifestation of myself composed of all my anger and malice since I myself never get angry and I am positive 99% of the time. There have been times where this manifestation took control when I would "snap" and let my anger out at which point I did not have much control over my actions though I have learned to control it better at this point and I am close to being at peace. I have recently gotten these problems diagnosed and I am doing much better now. I commissioned this in order to tell the story of my fight with myself in a way that others can interpret it in their own way which I am so glad you all did. In the SOULS context, I actually chose this design to show a soul that has overcome the corruption of hate and accepted it as a part of itself. Purity is a mere example of this that I felt resonated with me most and really this can be anyone with any type of SOUL doing overcoming hate such that anyone can experience this duality. I can add to that... Guess everyone that has a "hated" side tries to conceal it in an "alter-ego"-like fashion. So that you try not to be that one you yourself/your family/your friends dislike... But that's usually a kind of suppression that doesn't work if you don't have a way to cope with it. That's wrong. Accepting your "wrong" side and adapting it is sort of a forgotten art that needs to be remembered. Otherwise, there will always be emotional bursts and uncontrollable behavior. And mostly because **there ISN'T a wrong side in our feelings.** What I mean is, if you're feeling something negative, be it looming, or right in your guts, be it about someone, something, a group, a situation, whatever... It's there for a reason. You shouldn't conceal or ignore it. The only limitation being, you need to be careful on your approach to whatever you're feeling. Because most of the times, going right off the bat and being reckless does more harm than good.
I identify too much with this, like if I said it myself. In my case I never went to therapy(I know it sound hypocritical, but what it could have ended in a catrastofic way if I didn't have luck) and I ended up hating myself and not trusting others as a consequence and harming miself as a way to control it. Luckily I "made the mistake" of telling the secret to a group of friends trying to discover what happened to a close friend. Finally able to talk to someone about it, I tried(and I still don't have a deffinitive answer)to understan what my Alter ego, who is called Azrael, and I were. At first I thought of him as a demon(I was a religius child) but accepting that he was a part of me, in a way my true self, has helped me with my selflove and confidence. I still keep him around as "partners in crime" like the characters I create for stories and rol playing games. In a way I'm never lone and all of my characters, thanks to their different views and thought process, and friends have helped me to overcome difficulties. It is very conforting in a weird way to know that other people has also had that kind of Alter Egos and moving on. I'm happy about your recovery.
being honest i am in general a very conflicted individual, oscillating between not wanting anyone to be hurt and wanting the world to burn so no one can suffer anymore, between wanting to help and take the peaceful option and to make others i hate or i'm mad at actually suffer, or to kill them in real life, yet at the same time i'm not happy with myself when i feel that way, i know it's not a good thing, but i also feel like it's justified, and i can be quite indecisive many times and while i want to relax and be soft i am unwilling to back down and i can be quite overprotective and aggressive, even though if i'm not upset more often than not i don't like violence
DUALITY: a soul trait that precedes the NEUTRALITY trait, one who brings balance to good and evil, but knows their flaws, one is fire and also water, one is infinite but yet nothing, one is dark yet has light within, one is evil but also good, one is holy yet demonic, so on and so forth.
The innocence and light of Purity meets the roughness and weight of Hate. The whole composition feels like a conversation. Between the irrational hatred and the innocent compassion. This kind of conversation runs frequently inside each and every one of us, specially when we feel hurt about someone, or some situation. EDIT: Seeing what our fellow listeners have to say, I have a last question: Is this the start of a new "journey"? Perhaps we could see those new, chosen ideas that were left hanging some time ago.
Duality - A sort of anthesis for Neutral, wherever Neutral represents no sides, Duality represents both - making them equally dangerous towards Neutral souls and vice versa. Due to the rarity of both Duality and Neutral SOULs, every documented reports of said SOUL must be preserved at all cost. Duality combines both SOUL traits that it is derived from - let's say Purity with Hatred - into one powerful entity that possess both of the SOUL's strengths, and weaknesses. They are able to wield the powerful abilities of both SOULs, which led some to believe that if a Duality Soul ever exist, it means that a great war will soon be fought, and should the former loses, severe consequences will occur. But combining two SOULs into one has a very dangerous effect. Due to its conflicting traits, a Duality SOUL would eventually try to disperse itself as an attempt to equalize one another, which usually leads to a violent yet swift death for the involved SOUL. As the saying goes; with great power, comes great responsibility. However, there is a very rare chance (only 1 has ever been documented) for a Duality SOUL to stabilize, thus becoming a permanent SOUL trait. But... What is this? Why now? Why must a Duality SOUL be formed now? Whatever the reason might be, I do hope that they win. For the sake of our kind. - SOUL (Singular Omnipotent Unlimited Limit) Field Scientist "Kadabra"
When the reality is in chaos, two opposite forces have to unite to bring the balace to a new world. With purity, the goodnes of our soul and hate, the darkness of our mind, we can change that utopy and distopy that threats our universe and reality which we exist on. And now, it will depend all of us, make that duality ignite.
Many of us fallen children are remembering Hatred and Purity... frightening, they were. But I can't help but recall Determination and DETERMINATION instead. One cut through swabs of Monsters like it was nothing, one pacified born warriors. One dethroned an entire kingdom, one created a true equality between Monster and man. One fought its challengers to control and beat them all, one saved _the world_ from _pure evil._ And let's not forget what happened when their goals _aligned_ in the Neutral route. Even Satan's spawn broke in horror at their combined power. Even if Flowey wishes to forget all that when he goes back, we can _never_ forget the red eyes that burned either for Monsters, or against them. And if while we wish our protagonists a good night, they decide to show us those same red eyes and a scribbled-on photo... We realize nothing can ever _really_ reset our choices' consequences for anybody. After all, we're (ironically) forgetting the very identity of the last huma- no, it's Monste- er, I'm not sure _what_ kind of thing's SOUL last exhibited the virtue of duality, but they're _not_ called Duality. What? _Yes,_ I know who they are! But as BirdofTerror once said, "it's hard to recite exactly why or how they decide to turn on everything and just kill everyone." And that goes for our respective identities themselves, too: It's hard to put a name or face to Duality when the game lets us all rewrite our names and who we are every time we Truly reset the Undertale. It's even harder to _describe_ such a troubled SOUL that would seek to emulate _both_ Frisk and Chara. But it's still hardest above all else to forget these SOULs' stories, or such banger music, am I right?

DUALITY: A much more straightforward and to-the-point "trait". It isn't an actual trait, but more so a symbol of everyone's propensity for good and evil. Not unlike the idea of yin-yang. People are complicated creatures. Some are benevolent and virtuous. Practical saints who are always dedicated to doing what's right. Others are manipulative and malicious. Devious tricksters who exploit the weakness in others for personal gain, often under the guise of righteousness. And some, which comprises a large percentage of the population, are those who are neutral. These are individuals who follow a path that comprises a capacity for kindness and cruelty. Nothing is innately wrong with this state of existence, nor is someone inherently evil for choosing this path. It is simply another answer to the question of "How should one live life?".
Sounds like a soul with two main traits instead of one. A person with strong mood swings or personality problems could have such kind of soul. The two forces are making you stronger than regular souls but can break you under the pressure just as easily. This duality soul here is mixed with Purity and Hate. Strong contrasts indeed. But you could put any combination here. I personally would have a Kindness/Determination soul in my duality.
A Duality soul could fuse its two conflicting parts together to become a new soul that is healthy and lives perfectly in harmony with itself. I could imagine Purity and Hatred becoming a Soul of Reality or something. Someone who is thinking realistically and doesn't let themself be fooled by dreams or be too taken away by their emotions. Looking at Kindness and Determination, they would mix into a brownish color but my optimism would make the soul lighter. So it would turn into a light yellow/gold color like the Soul of Purity.
Mine would be Kindness, HOPE, and *Purity;* three positive traits that help to heal, and protect others… …Yet, I’ll admit, my SOUL is delicate, and shielded by a heavy amount of DETERMINATION, so it doesn’t break. ,,,It’s actually been broken so many times, yet it always manages to repair itself. …However, my TRUEST trait… Is… Love. Soft, gentle love; sealed with a kiss, and embraced with a hug.
Ya'll wanna know something ? At the end of the song, we can hear how Purity is comforting hatred, followed by the melody of Hatred slowly becoming a sad tone rather than aggressive, hate moves on. And to illustrate it, i think Vetrom made that we can see at 5:19 that hatred is fading away since it's becoming the first transparent thing.. Purity won, by comforting hatred.
Pure and Hateful Souls normally cannot exist in tandem with one another. As opposite traits, and with Hate being such a destructive force, more often than not, two people with these traits will clash against each other. However, on rare occasions, a Soul of Purity will shelter a Soul of Hatred, taking them underneath their wing. At the same time, a Soul of Hatred will turn their hatred away from that soul, instead directing that hatred against those that would threaten the two. And when a true union is formed between them... ...there is a chance a Soul of Duality is born. Souls of Duality are those who balance light with darkness, unwavering purity with unstoppable hatred. They simultaneously embody every negative and every positive trait, both a representation of the worst and best of humanity. These Souls are feared by all, for possessors of Duality could easily swing from brilliant kindness to vicious brutality, from compassionate saints to amoral mass-murderers that only the strongest Mages can face down. The Soul Series was how I discovered you so long ago. I’ve fallen in love with all of your songs- Undertale, Pokemon, Zelda, even Tomba, I’ve been utterly captivated by your music. To hear this brings me back the excitement of discovery I felt all that time ago. Brilliant work.

this duality sound like the opposite of neutrality. when neutrality is distant of all things, feeling included, duality embrace the all spectrum. from joy to sadness, from sympathy to hate. a being that care so much that it can't be on a side. it is not "good", nor "evil". it go behond those arbitrary notion. it care without condition, and yet, understand the meaning of "caring": to feel for everything the two side of the emotional spectrum. they are not laser focused toward a trait, they are a balanced of all trait, without blending them to make them fade away like neutrality.
Duality. A rare phenomenon. An event in which 2 traits collide into one soul. Duality could be a mix of hope and hate. Kindness and despair. Integrity and fear. Justice and love. When a hate soul takes over half of the soul and stops. It shows the meaning of rejection but not genocide. It could mean many things. Many it’s a neutral star hat found 2 traits at the same time. But it’s still balanced. Maybe it is something much more...
How much more time will this balance last? It is in such a perfect harmony on itself, it seems just the smallest of interventions could give this soul a different destiny of what it may had been by itself... What kind of future attends to this soul in such case? Depends merely on the interactions between themselves and/or itself. (The story has been altered: further back-story has been added to Seth's experience giving his character increased depth)

Duality, a mix of purity and hate. Many believe that such a combination is impossible, since there is no pureness in hatred, however duality represents the thin line between the two. In truth, no pure soul is truly pure, since no soul can be perfect, not even love or hope. We all possess some hate, some despair, some fear, however what matters is that we carry on nonetheless, and don't let it affect us. Duality is simply a true soul, one that many of us have. Some don't like to accept this fact, but this in turn turns them toward the darker side of their soul. The genuine pure soul is one that accepts that it is not absolutely pure.
this is an amazing theme, i have 2 characters who would fit perfectly with this, Zero and Dark... Zero is Kind and wants peace, Dark is Unkind and wants Judgement on any who has wronged him... Dark is the Manifestation of Zero's Darkness, corrupting part of his soul, which caused them to split from eachother... this music represents them quite well!
I love how this uses Fallen Down, Your Best Friend and Asgore's Theme, showing three very different sides of what can be seen as "Justice", with Flowey being the most corrupt.
Imagine what kind of Soul power this soul would use. Probably a mix of the two traits it represents but you share the weaknesses of its two traits as well.
This, if it were a mode in the vanilla game, would be a mode where the SOUL box is split into two halves. The SOUL box can be split in any direction. The direction the SOUL box will split in is telegraphed seconds before it happens. Both SOUL halves are like mirror images so if one half moves left then the other half will move right. If one SOUL half is hit by a bullet it'll take damage. For added difficulty the bullets don't have mirror images and sometimes the soul halves can be rotated in any direction making the SOUL movement lopsided. The ways of expanding on this SOUL mode are, quite possibly, limitless.

It's like it is all part of an anime or cartoon version of Undertale where they make flowey's theme a recurring melody or the main theme because it leads to a big plot point. So basically Undertale.

This is amazing! Now I'd love to see a "Duality Finale"- the Yin Yang of Duality surrounded by the Rainbow of the 7 souls perhaps. But honestly i just want it because of the name, haha
So, I think this is a great piece, and I think it's awesome that it was a commissioned one. Playing the new Deltarune chapter, I feel as if this song of hatred and purity fits the character of Kris so well. Not wanting to spoil too much but there is some DEEP story that I can't wait see unfold in the upcoming chapters.
Duality... The most common soul to form after a person undergoes trauma One side, the side that was their before the trauma. It's usually the side that tries to see the good in everyone, and manifests as either purity or kindness The other side, the side that no longer trusts anyone or anything. It always manifests as a darker trait, and usually despair. But it's not unusual to see it with other darker traits. These souls two halves do not get along peacefully, and often cause immense internal conflict. The best (and only) way to help such a soul? Help them heal from their trauma.
OMG OMG WAIT THIS IS BEAUTIFULLY PERFECT FOR MY ORIGINAL CHARACTER Not only is the music absolutely immaculate, but the meaning and message of DUALITY is so perfect, since my character is a fusion of both Frisk and Chara. I now headcanon this as their theme and no one can tell me otherwise.
Duality is less of it's own trait and more of an occurence between traits. Sometimes formed by two souls in one body, or, rarely, in one being alone. Duality is defined as the perfect harmony between two things, and what better way to show this than the perfect harmony between two completely and utterly *opposite* souls. Two antithesises given form in one body. Duality can be very strong, or very weak. Embodying the aspects of two different traits, those with a dual soul can prove to have very strange behavior. Often, those with Duality have multiple personalities. Alternate lives. Multiple beings coming together, monster or human, to work in unison. Chara, once she fell sick, requested Asriel take her soul. She asked that he use it to cross the barrier and do justice as they planned, and to bury her body in the place of her birth. Together, Asriel's soul of Pure, untainted Hope, and Chara's Spiteful Hate forged a new soul trait. Duality. The perfect unison of two completely different beings. Determination would struggle against duality as powerful as Purity and Hate, likely proving to be as powerful, if not weaker than it. All in all, Duality is not a trait, but a combined will. The will of two beings with the same goal. And together, they can become an unstoppable will AND unbeatable force.

This is one of my favorite soul themes (Determination, Hate, and Love are up there as well)and one of my favorite videos of yours in general. It's so catchy i can't stop listening to it... I can't even pick a favorite with all of your pokemon remixes! They're all so good!
"Dual souls. A phenomena i started to notice early into my research and observation. Duality - isn't a trait, but rather 2 traits living in harmony. Duality is fairly rare amongst humans. Only 1/15 newborns earn it. Usually it happens when 2 parents have vastly different aspects but wery close on power rating souls. Usually 1 aspect will overpower another, but, in rare cases, they are equal. Duality varies in purity. Sometimes, one trait still remains as main, and their partner is merely a secondary trait, usually duality is exactly that. It depends on how close in emotion and how close in power the parents are. A normal duality is something like 75/25% soul, can be lower or higher, but high values are insanely rare. 90% of all dualities consist of 4/1 ratio, and usually don't show any extreme strength and magic. However, those who blessed with high duality ratio are very powerful, as they have almost as much power on each trait as normal person would have on one. They are extremely rare, however, they usually have the 60/40 ratio and only make up 9% of all dualities. However, in extreme cases, one could have 2 evenly split traits, making up the perfect 50/50. Their soul aspects empower eachother to the point where they are as strong as 3 souls which have only 1 trait. There were cases of 2 dualities making a 3 or 4 trait soul, but they were so rare i couldn't count them for any statistic. And theoretically these merges could continue to the point where the soul has all 7 aspects a healthy sould could have. But out of hundreds of timelines that have gone for thousands of years i only recorded 5 instances of that... Well, it's a possibility, maybe that would apply to me..." Some observations and research on dual souls by unknown being.
Duality The Perfect Balance. Duality is a special place that rarely any SOUL can reach. Most SOULs either become their own trait or are consumed by HATE. However there is a rare occurrence when the wielder of the SOUL accepts their HATE, but doesn't allow it to control them. They have become in perfect sync with it and their own trait. No longer as they bound by their trait or fearful of their HATE. They have accepted the LOVE in their SOUL but will use both for their own morals and purpose. Not a simple trait or a savage beast. Perfectly in the middle.
This comes at the perfect time for me. I have a project about to end with a character in the finale that is pretty much the personification of this duality. And the track really fits his last actions. The mix of hate and purity.

Lost between the dark and light fallen beneath the darkness with a little light shining through. A balance of good and evil. A Song that filles you with the will to make choices. You could be kind and show love or you can listen to the dark thoughts instead your head and enter the Shadows. Within the dark it feels like you can't break out. The voices say your good for nothing. You can't be good. Just show the world pain. But there is a light inside you soul still shining in the cold giving a warning melody. Life can be rough and hard and there will be challenges it's your choice if you will fight through and stay determined enough to keep going or if the darkness of the tough time pulls you in to the dispair of the Shadows? Stay strong everyone!
So many people getting so philosophical, duality is simply two opposing ideas being able to coexist in one being, not more or else. This ideas aren’t good and evil or sumthing like that, selflessness and selfishness do just fine as an example, even if one seems superior in reality both are needed. If you were only selfish your social life with be pretty bad but if you were to be only selfless you wouldn’t be able to live, just give. Am not trying to sound deep or anything because in the end this concept is fairly simple, not that much to get poetic about tbh.
Dual Traited Souls. These souls are rare, and exceptionally powerful. These souls bare 2 traits rather than 1, and possess twice the magical output of an ordinary human soul. Complimentary Traits, such as Justice and Perseverance, are more likely to be paired together in a Dual Traited Soul. Some Dual Traited Souls have the traits merge, creating a brand new ability. One instance is of a Patience/Integrity Soul having Time and Gravity Manipulation from both traits merge into the ability to Teleport. However, a merger like this disables the ability to use the abilities separately.

Duality, this isn't so much a single trait as it is two very different traits somehow being in complete harmony leading to them both being the primary trait, so rare that for hundreds of years it was thought to be merely a myth, today there is only one SOUL known to have this "Duality" outside of legends in the whole world, that being Purity and Hatred, this seems impossible at first glance but keep in mind hate isn't necessarily the desire to kill but rather the rejection of something, needless to say with this being the only recorded instance of such a SOUL only time will tell what shall become of them

Exactly, I remembered when I made ocs based on the 7 souls and I used their video to get important information out of it. Now that I'm out of that period and looking back to the 7 souls, I can really say that if I didn't discover their music then I would still struggle to flesh them out as characters.

Duality: Some souls show the fullest of a trait, some show the pain. A Duality soul is no different, similar to a neutral soul they don't pick a side to life. The only different to a neutral soul is they embrace the neutrality of life itself, Duality is a combination of both Hate and Purity. They aren't inherently good or evil, but they understand both. A Duality soul is the best example of life. You can't have only good and you can't only have evil. Life will have ups and downs, your actions can be good and evil. Some may think everything you do is good while others may think you are evil. Duality souls have the strength, and patience to understand their hate, not control it but know the limits they have, and the roll it plays. Their hate is part of them, not a strong emotion gone rogue, or infection trying to control them after a horrible experience. Their hate is just a part of them just as their purity is. They can be good and evil, help others and help themselves, but the one thing you can trust a Duality soul for is truth. They don't sugarcoat things, they don't lie to you, they won't hide things, nor will they go out of their way to make everything better then it seems. If you ask they will tell you, they will help you if you ask for it. They will tell you everything you need to hear, no matter how dark it can feel. Is it cynical, evil, maybe rude, but its still the truth. You won't see a Duality soul going around killing everyone, and you won't see them pushing everything to the limit to create the best world possible. But you can find them helping others, and at times hurting them. A Duality soul has an understanding on what true good and evil can be, and that you can't have one without the other. They know we all have some good and evil within ourselves, and no matter what, others can see our actions with good and evil intentions. They can help those who have lost their mind to Hate before its too late, and slow down those who can lose themselves to their Purity before they hurt themselves.
A Duality soul would be a True Neutral run. Only fighting if you truly had to, and helping those who ask for it. They don't seek to take over, control, destroy, safe, clear, or really change the world to one or another side. They only want to show others both sides of the coin.

Hey everyone, it's me, the one who commissioned this beautiful piece. I just wanted to share the inspiration for this wonderful song with you all.
For most of my life I have been living with identity problems and I'm finally close to fully coping with them. The truth is in my head I have created a second manifestation of myself composed of all my anger and malice since I myself never get angry and I am positive 99% of the time. There have been times where this manifestation took control when I would "snap" and let my anger out at which point I did not have much control over my actions though I have learned to control it better at this point and I am close to being at peace. I have recently gotten these problems diagnosed and I am doing much better now.
I commissioned this in order to tell the story of my fight with myself in a way that others can interpret it in their own way which I am so glad you all did.
In the SOULS context, I actually chose this design to show a soul that has overcome the corruption of hate and accepted it as a part of itself. Purity is a mere example of this that I felt resonated with me most and really this can be anyone with any type of SOUL doing overcoming hate such that anyone can experience this duality.

I can add to that... Guess everyone that has a "hated" side tries to conceal it in an "alter-ego"-like fashion. So that you try not to be that one you yourself/your family/your friends dislike... But that's usually a kind of suppression that doesn't work if you don't have a way to cope with it.
That's wrong. Accepting your "wrong" side and adapting it is sort of a forgotten art that needs to be remembered. Otherwise, there will always be emotional bursts and uncontrollable behavior. And mostly because **there ISN'T a wrong side in our feelings.**
What I mean is, if you're feeling something negative, be it looming, or right in your guts, be it about someone, something, a group, a situation, whatever... It's there for a reason. You shouldn't conceal or ignore it. The only limitation being, you need to be careful on your approach to whatever you're feeling. Because most of the times, going right off the bat and being reckless does more harm than good.
I identify too much with this, like if I said it myself. In my case I never went to therapy(I know it sound hypocritical, but what it could have ended in a catrastofic way if I didn't have luck) and I ended up hating myself and not trusting others as a consequence and harming miself as a way to control it.
Luckily I "made the mistake" of telling the secret to a group of friends trying to discover what happened to a close friend. Finally able to talk to someone about it, I tried(and I still don't have a deffinitive answer)to understan what my Alter ego, who is called Azrael, and I were. At first I thought of him as a demon(I was a religius child) but accepting that he was a part of me, in a way my true self, has helped me with my selflove and confidence. I still keep him around as "partners in crime" like the characters I create for stories and rol playing games. In a way I'm never lone and all of my characters, thanks to their different views and thought process, and friends have helped me to overcome difficulties.
It is very conforting in a weird way to know that other people has also had that kind of Alter Egos and moving on. I'm happy about your recovery.

being honest i am in general a very conflicted individual, oscillating between not wanting anyone to be hurt and wanting the world to burn so no one can suffer anymore, between wanting to help and take the peaceful option and to make others i hate or i'm mad at actually suffer, or to kill them in real life, yet at the same time i'm not happy with myself when i feel that way, i know it's not a good thing, but i also feel like it's justified, and i can be quite indecisive many times and while i want to relax and be soft i am unwilling to back down and i can be quite overprotective and aggressive, even though if i'm not upset more often than not i don't like violence

Duality - A sort of anthesis for Neutral, wherever Neutral represents no sides, Duality represents both - making them equally dangerous towards Neutral souls and vice versa. Due to the rarity of both Duality and Neutral SOULs, every documented reports of said SOUL must be preserved at all cost.
Duality combines both SOUL traits that it is derived from - let's say Purity with Hatred - into one powerful entity that possess both of the SOUL's strengths, and weaknesses. They are able to wield the powerful abilities of both SOULs, which led some to believe that if a Duality Soul ever exist, it means that a great war will soon be fought, and should the former loses, severe consequences will occur.
But combining two SOULs into one has a very dangerous effect. Due to its conflicting traits, a Duality SOUL would eventually try to disperse itself as an attempt to equalize one another, which usually leads to a violent yet swift death for the involved SOUL. As the saying goes; with great power, comes great responsibility. However, there is a very rare chance (only 1 has ever been documented) for a Duality SOUL to stabilize, thus becoming a permanent SOUL trait.
But... What is this? Why now? Why must a Duality SOUL be formed now? Whatever the reason might be, I do hope that they win. For the sake of our kind.

Many of us fallen children are remembering Hatred and Purity... frightening, they were. But I can't help but recall Determination and DETERMINATION instead.
One cut through swabs of Monsters like it was nothing, one pacified born warriors. One dethroned an entire kingdom, one created a true equality between Monster and man. One fought its challengers to control and beat them all, one saved _the world_ from _pure evil._ And let's not forget what happened when their goals _aligned_ in the Neutral route. Even Satan's spawn broke in horror at their combined power.
Even if Flowey wishes to forget all that when he goes back, we can _never_ forget the red eyes that burned either for Monsters, or against them. And if while we wish our protagonists a good night, they decide to show us those same red eyes and a scribbled-on photo... We realize nothing can ever _really_ reset our choices' consequences for anybody.
After all, we're (ironically) forgetting the very identity of the last huma- no, it's Monste- er, I'm not sure _what_ kind of thing's SOUL last exhibited the virtue of duality, but they're _not_ called Duality. What? _Yes,_ I know who they are! But as BirdofTerror once said, "it's hard to recite exactly why or how they decide to turn on everything and just kill everyone." And that goes for our respective identities themselves, too: It's hard to put a name or face to Duality when the game lets us all rewrite our names and who we are every time we Truly reset the Undertale.
It's even harder to _describe_ such a troubled SOUL that would seek to emulate _both_ Frisk and Chara. But it's still hardest above all else to forget these SOULs' stories, or such banger music, am I right?

DUALITY: A much more straightforward and to-the-point "trait". It isn't an actual trait, but more so a symbol of everyone's propensity for good and evil. Not unlike the idea of yin-yang. People are complicated creatures.
Some are benevolent and virtuous. Practical saints who are always dedicated to doing what's right. Others are manipulative and malicious. Devious tricksters who exploit the weakness in others for personal gain, often under the guise of righteousness. And some, which comprises a large percentage of the population, are those who are neutral.
These are individuals who follow a path that comprises a capacity for kindness and cruelty. Nothing is innately wrong with this state of existence, nor is someone inherently evil for choosing this path. It is simply another answer to the question of "How should one live life?".
When a musical artist remixes their own track, you know damn well it's gonna sound incredible.
Sounds like a soul with two main traits instead of one. A person with strong mood swings or personality problems could have such kind of soul. The two forces are making you stronger than regular souls but can break you under the pressure just as easily.
This duality soul here is mixed with Purity and Hate. Strong contrasts indeed. But you could put any combination here.
I personally would have a Kindness/Determination soul in my duality.
A Duality soul could fuse its two conflicting parts together to become a new soul that is healthy and lives perfectly in harmony with itself.
I could imagine Purity and Hatred becoming a Soul of Reality or something. Someone who is thinking realistically and doesn't let themself be fooled by dreams or be too taken away by their emotions.
Looking at Kindness and Determination, they would mix into a brownish color but my optimism would make the soul lighter. So it would turn into a light yellow/gold color like the Soul of Purity.

Pure and Hateful Souls normally cannot exist in tandem with one another. As opposite traits, and with Hate being such a destructive force, more often than not, two people with these traits will clash against each other. However, on rare occasions, a Soul of Purity will shelter a Soul of Hatred, taking them underneath their wing. At the same time, a Soul of Hatred will turn their hatred away from that soul, instead directing that hatred against those that would threaten the two. And when a true union is formed between them...

In truth, no pure soul is truly pure, since no soul can be perfect, not even love or hope. We all possess some hate, some despair, some fear, however what matters is that we carry on nonetheless, and don't let it affect us. Duality is simply a true soul, one that many of us have. Some don't like to accept this fact, but this in turn turns them toward the darker side of their soul. The genuine pure soul is one that accepts that it is not absolutely pure.

this is an amazing theme, i have 2 characters who would fit perfectly with this, Zero and Dark... Zero is Kind and wants peace, Dark is Unkind and wants Judgement on any who has wronged him... This, if it were a mode in the vanilla game, would be a mode where the SOUL box is split into two halves.
The SOUL box can be split in any direction. The direction the SOUL box will split in is telegraphed seconds before it happens.
Both SOUL halves are like mirror images so if one half moves left then the other half will move right.
If one SOUL half is hit by a bullet it'll take damage. For added difficulty the bullets don't have mirror images and sometimes the soul halves can be rotated in any direction making the SOUL movement lopsided.
The ways of expanding on this SOUL mode are, quite possibly, limitless.

So, I think this is a great piece, and I think it's awesome that it was a commissioned one. Playing the new Deltarune chapter, I feel as if this song of hatred and purity fits the character of Kris so well. Not wanting to spoil too much but there is some DEEP story that I can't wait see unfold in the upcoming chapters.

The most common soul to form after a person undergoes trauma
One side, the side that was their before the trauma. It's usually the side that tries to see the good in everyone, and manifests as either purity or kindness
The other side, the side that no longer trusts anyone or anything. It always manifests as a darker trait, and usually despair. But it's not unusual to see it with other darker traits.
These souls two halves do not get along peacefully, and often cause immense internal conflict.
The best (and only) way to help such a soul?
Help them heal from their trauma.

Duality is less of it's own trait and more of an occurence between traits. Sometimes formed by two souls in one body, or, rarely, in one being alone. Duality is defined as the perfect harmony between two things, and what better way to show this than the perfect harmony between two completely and utterly *opposite* souls. Two antithesises given form in one body.
Duality can be very strong, or very weak. Embodying the aspects of two different traits, those with a dual soul can prove to have very strange behavior. Often, those with Duality have multiple personalities. Alternate lives. Multiple beings coming together, monster or human, to work in unison.
Chara, once she fell sick, requested Asriel take her soul. She asked that he use it to cross the barrier and do justice as they planned, and to bury her body in the place of her birth. Together, Asriel's soul of Pure, untainted Hope, and Chara's Spiteful Hate forged a new soul trait. Duality. The perfect unison of two completely different beings. Determination would struggle against duality as powerful as Purity and Hate, likely proving to be as powerful, if not weaker than it.
All in all, Duality is not a trait, but a combined will. The will of two beings with the same goal. And together, they can become an unstoppable will AND unbeatable force.

"Dual souls. A phenomena i started to notice early into my research and observation. Duality - isn't a trait, but rather 2 traits living in harmony.
Duality is fairly rare amongst humans. Only 1/15 newborns earn it. Usually it happens when 2 parents have vastly different aspects but wery close on power rating souls. Usually 1 aspect will overpower another, but, in rare cases, they are equal.
Duality varies in purity. Sometimes, one trait still remains as main, and their partner is merely a secondary trait, usually duality is exactly that. It depends on how close in emotion and how close in power the parents are.
A normal duality is something like 75/25% soul, can be lower or higher, but high values are insanely rare. 90% of all dualities consist of 4/1 ratio, and usually don't show any extreme strength and magic.
However, those who blessed with high duality ratio are very powerful, as they have almost as much power on each trait as normal person would have on one. They are extremely rare, however, they usually have the 60/40 ratio and only make up 9% of all dualities.
However, in extreme cases, one could have 2 evenly split traits, making up the perfect 50/50. Their soul aspects empower eachother to the point where they are as strong as 3 souls which have only 1 trait.
There were cases of 2 dualities making a 3 or 4 trait soul, but they were so rare i couldn't count them for any statistic. And theoretically these merges could continue to the point where the soul has all 7 aspects a healthy sould could have. But out of hundreds of timelines that have gone for thousands of years i only recorded 5 instances of that...
Well, it's a possibility, maybe that would apply to me..."

Duality The Perfect Balance.
Duality is a special place that rarely any SOUL can reach. Most SOULs either become their own trait or are consumed by HATE. However there is a rare occurrence when the wielder of the SOUL accepts their HATE, but doesn't allow it to control them. They have become in perfect sync with it and their own trait. No longer as they bound by their trait or fearful of their HATE. They have accepted the LOVE in their SOUL but will use both for their own morals and purpose. Not a simple trait or a savage beast. Perfectly in the middle.

This comes at the perfect time for me. I have a project about to end with a character in the finale that is pretty much the personification of this duality. And the track really fits his last actions. The mix of hate and purity.

This is basically my theme. I *hate* a lot of stuff, but also have *purity* in my heart.
This music truly feels like a combination of both traits. An energised Purity, mixed with a subdued Hatred.

Duality is the perfect soul type for the Yandere trope since they are associated with a bright cheery side and a darker "want to remove rivals" side
A great example is Toko/Genocider from Danganronpa THH
Lost between the dark and light fallen beneath the darkness with a little light shining through. A balance of good and evil. A Song that filles you with the will to make choices. You could be kind and show love or you can listen to the dark thoughts instead your head and enter the Shadows. Within the dark it feels like you can't break out. The voices say your good for nothing. You can't be good. Just show the world pain. But there is a light inside you soul still shining in the cold giving a warning melody. Life can be rough and hard and there will be challenges it's your choice if you will fight through and stay determined enough to keep going or if the darkness of the tough time pulls you in to the dispair of the Shadows? Stay strong everyone!
Oh, finally new soul!
So many people getting so philosophical, duality is simply two opposing ideas being able to coexist in one being, not more or else. This ideas aren’t good and evil or sumthing like that, selflessness and selfishness do just fine as an example, even if one seems superior in reality both are needed. If you were only selfish your social life with be pretty bad but if you were to be only selfless you wouldn’t be able to live, just give. Am not trying to sound deep or anything because in the end this concept is fairly simple, not that much to get poetic about tbh.
Dual Traited Souls. These souls are rare, and exceptionally powerful. These souls bare 2 traits rather than 1, and possess twice the magical output of an ordinary human soul. Complimentary Traits, such as Justice and Perseverance, are more likely to be paired together in a Dual Traited Soul. Some Dual Traited Souls have the traits merge, creating a brand new ability. One instance is of a Patience/Integrity Soul having Time and Gravity Manipulation from both traits merge into the ability to Teleport. However, a merger like this disables the ability to use the abilities separately.
