    I want to try this but I'm thinking if I can turn the inside with a 4x4 inches square cross sectional piece instead of gluing 4 quarter pieces like you did at 1st gluing and then cut it in to 4 pieces and glue them inside out. What do you think about this way of turning? I don't mind the grain pattern because the wood that I'm going to turn has barely no grain on it.

    A few grains of table salt will prevent glue from sliding... if using paper, put some on each side of the paper.

    It's called a wood jointer. Planner is a different thing :D

      Planer or Jointer, he's right, just depends where you are in the world. In the UK we usually call the individual machine a Jointer, but for some reason we call it a Planer when we have a "Planer/ Thicknesser". And it's Planer with one "N".
