    Fantastic pens.

It took me a long time to realize there was actually a difference in the old namiki capless designs compared to what we know now, I just always assumed it was a rebranding thing.

Thanks for the comparisons. I’ve also noticed that Pilot mediums generally seem to be significantly more broad than their fines.

Heh, it's been awhile and I was wondering if you had another book in the works? Ignore that! I haven't seen B nibs in the VP lineup in ages but Heldin has one. I think US distributers don't get them.

I have a Namiki faceted like but yours but in black. Bought it back in the 90’s. It has a sort of squeeze fill mechanism. Haven’t seen anyone else discuss it. And I didn’t know it would accept a cartridge. Love this pen! So thanks for showing it.

You can replace the sqeeze type with a con-40 converter. Con-40 fits perfectly to the older models. If you would like to use cartridge, you can. However, you need to get the metal part (made for placing cartridge) to use with it. Hope this helps. 😊

Very enjoyable review. I just got my first VP after trying out a Chinese copy for a while to see whether I'd like the design at all and to test if the clip would get in the way of this lefty writer. Turns out the clip isn't an issue and the VP is a smooth, comfortable writer with some heft to it. Although some of the LE colorways are absolutely stunning to look at, for me as well as you, at the end of the day, that doesn't outweigh the difference in price. I own Andreas Lambrou's book on Fountain Pens of Japan, so I'd seen pictures of the vintage models. I hope to snag one somewhere down the line. I'm still curious about the Decimo and the Fermo. For now I'll enjoy the M nib on my VP. Thank for sharing.

Nice comparison!! I have 1 Pilot VP - M in the Gunmetal finish. I have noticed ink choice is important so it is good to hear you've had best luck eith Pilot inks - that's good to know & helpful. I've only found a few inks that I like in my CO and one is Bungubox L'Amant. Thank you for another interesting video!!!

I have two Namiki VPs and prefer them to the newer ones due to its finer nib. I like to keep them with my daily carry notebook so that I don't have to worry about losing the cap. I have put several non-Pilot inks in mine with no problems but I do stay away from manufacturers like Organic Studio and KWZ.

    • @HeldinWrites
      @HeldinWrites  4 роки тому

Yeah, those brands make lovely inks but I would think they're a bit too saturated for these pens. Especially with fine nibs.

To my knowledge, there is only kanji nib size. I would say with M/B it would be more red.

Hey there Heldin.. I bought my wife one of the 1990's faceted barrel as well.. I did get the 2018 (I think) LE black Guilloche with rhodium trim.. love that with both a fine and a 1.0 mm stub..really enjoy your work.. Stephen Brown was my first reviewer that I began watching back in 2012.. well done Heldin!!

I have several of these and love them. I have a stub in the matte blue and I don’t find it scratchy at all with Great Southern Ocean ink inside.

vanishing point pens first were introduced by PARKER during early 1950s. I have seen it. One of my high school teachers had it.

Ok.. so now I really want a Fermo.. one more paycheck and my pen allowance will be enough.. I'm a full grown up man, but needed to have a pen/ink/paper budget.. I too have a faceted VP from the 1990's.. and three others.. a blue metallic, green metallic, and the 2016 LE black Guilloche.. love that one. Most are medium nibs, and I need to buy one mor fine replacement nib. Love your videos Heldin.. seriously, how come Pilot cannot make a better smaller converter? The 70 is fine even though it is tough to clean.. but the 40, and 50.. terrible.. I prefer the con 20! Well. Happy Holidays from Boulder, Colorado!!

The vintage is my favourite design. It looks the most modern to my eye. The silver is quite nice though.

nice pens never seen the vintage VP before.I like the look of it. I Have a standard in red that I like but wish the red was brighter it´s a little boring color. Wish I had the striped one but also expensive.

❤Reviews. Have 2 VP’s. Regular and Decimo. Have fine nib and a special order fine/med. nib which i interchange. Use cartridges because I hate the garbage converter. Other 2 models don’t interest me. Probably buy the 2023 special edition. This is the way✒️

Beautiful!!!! The pens are nice too I guess… lol Jk… anyway, I have an extra fine nib cap-less fountain pen. But I also just ordered myself another one, just the new one is going to be red with the gold trim, and a fine nib… the dang extra-fine nib is like writing with a sharp HAIR! 😂 so hopefully the fine nib will be better.

Broad nib should be rearranged in VP, to a thick pen - a thick nib, so it is more harmonious.

  • @johnlopez3996

I cringed a bit when you dropped your Vanishing Point and the nib was out. My Black Carbonesque fell out of my hands and landed on a desk. The nib did get damaged, but at least the unit can be replaced easily.

  • @Avocado818

Nice video, but honestly for a 16 minute video you did very very little writing, if you're going to show the different nibs, do more writing less talking
