- C-reactive protein (CRP) acts as biomarker for inflammation as well as any infection in the body. That's why CRP test is one of the important tool to study the prognosis of inflammatory disorders like atherosclerosis, cardiac disorders and rheumatoid arthritis. In this video, we will see how CRP is elevated and what is its role in our physiological system.

Very informative thanks for this lovely information Your explanations mention all the various reasons for elevated values But if one isn't aware of the underlying causes and gets an elevated value how does one narrow down on the root cause? Maybe you can make a separate video focusing on the disease say heart health and then suggest a few tests like crp homosysteine angio CT scan and other markers etc that can be done so that patients to predict the probability of heart attack or stroke and consult the doctors accordingly.

What is the role of CRP test in covid-19.
Some Drs.say's elevated should rule out covid-19.and treats as covid-19.is this correct.
My wife 50 years old. Crp (immunoturpitity ) value is 11.4 mg per L. They have given reference range as less than 6 is good. Her chlostrol,ige are very good level. She is non diabetic. What it indicates?
With all due respect and you seem to be caring person but if you don't fully understand the values and the effects I would either read up more or take her to a doctor (clearly you have brought her to a doctor but I am really suggesting one who might explain things a bit more in depth) As it sounds like you might have had a question but it didn't get answered properly not all doctors or practitioners take the time as they should to clarify. I don't mean for that to sound negative I am just trying to help you understand it more because it's not exactly one of the more easier lab items to interpret. So when people ask questions like that on topics like this you might imagine that complicated is to say the least as there are so many variables.
Crp is not spesific. It can not tell you either which organ were injured. It just tells us that could be an infection, inflamation, autoimmune, cancer, etc. Plese contact a medical expert for helping.

Sir my sister is 49yrs old she did her CRP test because very often she gets swelling on hand and its warm when touched and sometimes itching, we got her CRP Test (H) 12.26 H is highlighted in red 0-6mg/L, is she safe to get vaccinated and plz tell why H is highlighted
