    Brought some seeds from New Zealand to Cambodia. The plants grow incredibly fast in this climate. Got my own little patch of NZéd here.

      Great that you having good results! I hope it goes well. The main thing when you plant out the seedlings/plants is to Not disturb or loosen the roots/root-ball. Loosening the roots when planting is very bad for the plants. Good luck!

    Absolutely what I was looking for. Great quality video clearly explaining what I need to know.
    Are u planning to make more videos for other native species? I sincerely hope so as this would be VERY useful. Many thanks from the Top of the South Island

    That was great information. Thank you. I'm a home gardener who wants to plant manuka on a small section as a privacy screen. I purchased some manuka from my local nursery, and I'm not ready to plant out yet. They are about 60cm high. I'm just wondering how to fertilise them when I pot them up. I know some natives can't handle ordinary fertiliser. I want a slow release fertiliser rather than liquid feed. Can I just pick anything of the shelf or do I need to know something special about it? Thanks.

    Thanks for the beautiful demonstration. On average, How long do the seedlings need in order to start making a blooming flowers

    • @FarmsToForests
      @FarmsToForests  3 роки тому +1

      Most plants will start flowering after 2-3 years, depending on when the seeds were sown. Some plants can start flowering much sooner. Generally. if your planting out in winter, then following years summer.

    What is the pH of the soil (compost ) using for planting and grooving the manuka seeds ? Thanks for answer.

    • @FarmsToForests
      @FarmsToForests  3 роки тому

      Mānuka will grow well in most growing medium, mostly here it is grown from seed in low pH bark based potting mix. Then later on planted out in different environments into to many different soil types.

    Hello good morning, I write these lines from Buenos Aires Argentina, my name is Ezequiel and I had the opportunity to see your excellent UA-cam videos Leptospermum scoparium, or well called manuka.
    Here in Buenos Aires it is a very little known plant, now there is an important boom, but there is not much information, very few know about its care.
    I had 3 plants and they dried up, I don't know what happened, today I bought 2 more plants and I hope to be lucky.
    I would like to contact you so that you can help me with the manuka.
    I hope you can give me some advice.
    Greetings
    ezequiel

      @@FarmsToForests Both, though I've found that Egmont Seeds has the 198 cell trays, but always curious where nurseries get their supplies from. On that note, would love to see a video tour of your set up, it looks really great.

      If you are only looking at a few try calling the Horticentre +64 9 438 1045 (not shown on website but stock them), they were much cheaper than anywhere else.

    • @FarmsToForests
      @FarmsToForests  2 роки тому +1

      Moving established mānuka will be very difficult as they do not like having there roots disturbed. An established plant will have a deep tap root and a vast network of other roots that will in most cases will be damaged trying to move. Even loosening the root ball of a potted mānuka before planting is not recommended. Some other trees will make the move okay but mānuka is difficult. Best tip would be to plant some new seedlings.

    • @FarmsToForests
      @FarmsToForests  2 роки тому +1

      You could grow cuttings from the fresh tips and grow in propagation media, (coarse sand) or grow from seeds from your existing plants :)

    • @yanahinarodriguez3527
      @yanahinarodriguez3527 2 роки тому

      @@FarmsToForests yes i think this would be best, i never propagated manuka though, i assume i have to wait after flowering finishes so is time for the plant energy to go down to grow new roots, isn't it?

    • @FarmsToForests
      @FarmsToForests  2 роки тому

      @@yanahinarodriguez3527 Yes usually you would take cuttings in winter/spring. You could take cuttings off the new shoots that don't have flowers and treat as a semi-hardwood cutting. If you have flowers then you will also have seeds in a few months!

    • @FarmsToForests

      Flowering varies across the country and year to year, so actually difficult to generalise, that said, late spring/summer, keep an eye on it from November - Feb

      Hi there, my best suggestion would be to search for nz seeds and see if there is a company that will ship to you. We are not able to recommend any particular supplier as we collect seeds to grow locally, rather than buy from a supplier.
