In a real situation, you would want to react immediately. And it definitely depends on how you've been grabbed and how strong you are as an individual. Demonstrations are always done slower so you can see all the movements. This is a good technique to use if you can keep a level head in an intense situation and if you have really good reaction times.

If you don't understand, if you turn to the right it's not going to help you, but when you place your hands on his arm and turn to the left, it's taking his arm in the backwards direction which twists his arm, isn't natural and hurts. Agreed but probably training wind sprints for max speed rather than distance - very few attackers are going to chase you for a mile. You just have to be able to run 100 yards much faster than they can.

Okay I just tried this with my husband, I’m 5ft7 and my husband is 6ft3. He didn’t know what I was planning and just held my hair and it doesn’t work, he didn’t even budge. I’m by no means weak but he was like a wall and didn’t budge. My advise is scream and run and aim for the balls
A quick comment on hitting people in the groin: you need to run after doing it, you have about 1/4 second to 1/2 of shock of time, you can’t rely on them being in pain and not hitting you because a) some people don’t feel a sharp unbearable pain when getting hit in the balls b) they probably have lots of adrenaline and will tough through any pain they have c) lots of people’s first reaction will be to swing right after the shock runs out. Running away also goes with every other method of self defence which involves making space between you and the aggressor, you make the space to have a head start when you run away.
For anyone who doesn’t know, if somebody is holding your hair it’s BASE, close the scalp, and has any modicum of strength, they can prevent you from turning around with relative ease. Just please carry something for protection.

Hi! I actually have 6 years in self defense and let me tell you, for the average person this will not work. Something that is very effective for if they’re behind you and grabbing your hair, is for you to THROW your butt into them as hard as possible. This will only work if there is some space in between you, and not if they’re pressed against you. But if you can it hurts like hell. Hope this help! 😊

@@Adizzyizzy this! I learned a similar move in Kung-fu, it's more helpful to actually try and keep their hand on your head so you pin it there with your hands. Makes it harder for them to move and pull out your hair. Then when you turn their arm is already in an uncomfortable position so their more likely to let go when you kick them.

They can kick you in the back of your knees which will cause you to fall down to the ground 3. The fact that you have your back turned to them means they can easily just place you in a headlock 4. One of the things I learnt in Nigeria especially attending a Public university that was known for its notorious acts, was to be vigilant always, walk in groups, walk like a tough dog and not act like a weakling, and always have something on you, so I carried “Knife” always, it’s always a fight for supremacy so act tougher and talk rough and “no gree for anybody” 😂 I have been held at gunpoint several times on campus then but I survived all. I still use the tactics in Poland 😂😂 P.S. - I’m not saying that’s what saved me but it sure did help me and of course, God has been my saving Grace.

You can do this by being conscious of your surroundings, knowing where you’re going, don’t walk alone at night, stay in busy areas, etc. you know best on how to stay as safe as possible. If that doesn’t work and someone does attack you. I would recommend you scream as loud as you can to get people to notice. If that’s not good enough for you then I would get a gun and learn how to use it. Fighting a man is the last thing you would want to be doing.

Our sensei had us pin just the hand on our head so as we turned we also snap the wrist in order to loosen the grip of the hand in the hair. this way you don’t have to worry about remembering which direction to turn under stress. Women should not rely on knives for self defense. It requires close contact to do damage and can easily be taken and used against us. Bear spray/pepper gel, tasers and firearms are better options.
@@AnonymousOneThreeI don't know what knife you're using but change it, there are plenty of options with short handles so the only surface available to an attacker is the blade and I don't need to tell you why grabbing the blade is a bad idea, Karbit is a good choice too, ice pick grip and a retention ring make them difficult to take from you and the curved design really shreds muscle tissue.

In a real situation, you would want to react immediately. And it definitely depends on how you've been grabbed and how strong you are as an individual.
Demonstrations are always done slower so you can see all the movements. This is a good technique to use if you can keep a level head in an intense situation and if you have really good reaction times.

If you don't understand, if you turn to the right it's not going to help you, but when you place your hands on his arm and turn to the left, it's taking his arm in the backwards direction which twists his arm, isn't natural and hurts. A quick comment on hitting people in the groin: you need to run after doing it, you have about 1/4 second to 1/2 of shock of time, you can’t rely on them being in pain and not hitting you because a) some people don’t feel a sharp unbearable pain when getting hit in the balls b) they probably have lots of adrenaline and will tough through any pain they have c) lots of people’s first reaction will be to swing right after the shock runs out. Running away also goes with every other method of self defence which involves making space between you and the aggressor, you make the space to have a head start when you run away.

Hi! I actually have 6 years in self defense and let me tell you, for the average person this will not work. Something that is very effective for if they’re behind you and grabbing your hair, is for you to THROW your butt into them as hard as possible. This will only work if there is some space in between you, and not if they’re pressed against you. But if you can it hurts like hell. Hope this help! 😊

Makes it harder for them to move and pull out your hair. Then when you turn their arm is already in an uncomfortable position so their more likely to let go when you kick them.

1. The person grabbing onto your hair can just move to stop you from turning to face them
2. They can kick you in the back of your knees which will cause you to fall down to the ground
3. The fact that you have your back turned to them means they can easily just place you in a headlock
4. The moment you do turn around, their will be a knuckle sandwich waiting for you as well as a bleeding nose and missing teeth for desert

One of the things I learnt in Nigeria especially attending a Public university that was known for its notorious acts, was to be vigilant always, walk in groups, walk like a tough dog and not act like a weakling, and always have something on you, so I carried “Knife” always, it’s always a fight for supremacy so act tougher and talk rough and “no gree for anybody” 😂

@violet's place prevention is always the best thing a person can do to stay safe. You can do this by being conscious of your surroundings, knowing where you’re going, don’t walk alone at night, stay in busy areas, etc. you know best on how to stay as safe as possible. If that doesn’t work and someone does attack you. I would recommend you scream as loud as you can to get people to notice. If that’s not good enough for you then I would get a gun and learn how to use it. Fighting a man is the last thing you would want to be doing.
@@violetsplace524 here is a life saving tip, you want to be able to defend yourself, go for a run, hit the gym, take some sort of martial art training, be it boxing, kick boxing etc, learn how to hit someone and how to get hit, do this for a year, then spar a 14 year old boy and get humbled

My Dad started teaching me how to fight when I was really young . like, some of my VERY first memories are of him teaching me how to punch & that was before my 3rd birthday... he was a Marine in the Vietnam War.. taught me & my older brother a lot of shit... said he was going to make sure I could get a man off of me if I told him no & he pulled some shit... thank God for my Dad ( I love you Daddy & we miss you so much, RIP!) & thank God for my older brother, Sean, who was always picking fights with me & wanting to make sure his friends knew I could whip their asses, too!!!😂😂🤜🤛

Our sensei had us pin just the hand on our head so as we turned we also snap the wrist in order to loosen the grip of the hand in the hair. this way you don’t have to worry about remembering which direction to turn under stress.
Also take out the knee or achilles - less time and more power in the downward motion for the avg person

@twistedxvengeance self defense without a weapon is useful, but just watching tips from shorts won't help. You need to go to a real martial arts gym and actually take lessons for it to be worthwile

Women should not rely on knives for self defense. It requires close contact to do damage and can easily be taken and used against us. Bear spray/pepper gel, tasers and firearms are better options.
@@AnonymousOneThreeI don't know what knife you're using but change it, there are plenty of options with short handles so the only surface available to an attacker is the blade and I don't need to tell you why grabbing the blade is a bad idea, Karbit is a good choice too, ice pick grip and a retention ring make them difficult to take from you and the curved design really shreds muscle tissue.
