    People tend to focus too much on horsepower, which comes into play at higher rpms and speeds. Low to mid range torque is king on the street from stoplight to stoplight, and these L98s made plenty of it.

      Also, what are you REALLY using the car for. Too much HP can make a car really unfun to drive in town. Like you said, light to light, this car is fun.

    I just purchased my first C-4 1993 with 69,001 miles on it, 99% stock, except for the wheels, replica C-6. $7,000.
    Artic White, automatic, black leather interior and garaged all its life.

    I drive a c5 but I drove a few c4s before I bought it. I like the way the driver sits down in the car. It feels like a race car. I like the way the hood opens, showing the whole motor. The seats are snug like a race car. I like every generation, they were state of the art when they were new.

    that is a very clean example of a legit z51 car. note to future viewers: the last quick ratio steering cars were very early 89's with z51 option. by june build dates in 89, no further quick ratio racks were ever installed. perhaps the corvette challenge cars. also note, z51 cars that were also optioned with the fx3 adjustable ride control were downgraded to the non z51 springs! including the anti sway bar springs. this is a huuuge consideration for buyers who are looking for a true track experience. the car posted here is honestly pretty rare nowadays. true z51 cars (non fx3) are what you want if you plan on track days or autocross. further note, the 1991 z07 cars, which took the place of the z51 option, not sure why gm changed that rpo, was an exception year where even the fx3 option cars had the stiff springs. only 91! hope this helps other newcomers to the c4 world. great video and that is a clean unique car in a great color! lets see more vids of this car

I didn’t realize that change you mentioned, I know mine feels quick so maybe it’s a 13.5:1? I can get about 2.25 lock to lock. I was very pleased to find out this was a base z51 non fx3 when I showed up at the sellers house, the ride isn’t as bad on the street also I’m use to driving race cars that are a lot firmer. The first few seconds of the video I saw the ND1/2 Miata - did you both race each other? I’m sure he had you on the corners😎

      That’s a good friend of mine who owns it you’ll see it in front of me in the track day footage it posted. We’ve done a few track days together he hangs right with me in the corners the only reason I run quicker lap times though is because I have more seat time!

    That wing is atrocious. But you might be able to sell it on eBay... A friend had a mustang with a dealer installed wing. The paint bubbled, and the wing actually sagged in the middle.

    Thanks for the runthrough. Quick question about your radio. I think you said $300 for it. But what about the original Bose speakers? How did you deal with those, hooking them up to this head unit? Was it plug and play, or did you have to mod your car's wiring?

    • @morecars324
      @morecars324  2 роки тому

      Appreciate you taking the time to watch, it’s an atoto s8 and to my knowledge still has the factory Bose speakers in there. When I got the car it had an aftermarket alpine head unit and someone made a custom harness that goes under the passenger side footwell from the radio to the unit that the factory radio uses. I’m not super familiar with that setup but I think all they did was extend wires from the radio to the factory amp

    First of all z51 is the suspension option. Nothing to do with the car. And just jumping on the bandwagon? Some of us have been on that wagon for 25 years or more

    • @morecars324
      @morecars324  2 роки тому

      Okay, from the reading I’ve done I always understood it’s a suspension and performance package better cooling and better chassis stiffness for track driving. Yep! Been driving since 2006 but have owned a lot of Japan imports

      That’s fine, if you payed attention you’ll see this doesn’t have an LT engine…and I took the more logical thing to do with the wing I made money from it 👌
