      Hi, the reason it's lurching is the lower carrier rollers are worn out and it's riding up on its idlers, you get the lurching when the grouser plates are in a different position on the left and right track as it rolls off the front idler and into the dirt onto to the worn rollers.

    A private individual bought, refurbished, and donated one of these to our tractor club in South Carolina. What a sight up close and personal. Undercarriage is weak, yes. Can't keep 3rd gear in an a/c 185 either. The smaller crawlers are to add weight and demonstrate the power of the hd41. Weight puts hp to the ground, but at 67 tons, I don't see the reason for any extra weight. Absolutely awesome though!

      Why add the extra weight on an old machine,not only does it look stupid it keeps people from checking out the little tractors close up.It might be an ego thing."Hey look at all of my toys". Must not be any overpasses on the route home. It looks really tall. Think of how tall it is on a lowbed.

      If you can't keep 3rd gear in any Allis tractor, you NEED to read the manual on how to shift it.You ONLY shift transmission gears when the back wheels are STOPPED.

      it was a heavy dozer for sure in it day ,, i belive the undercarriage wasent able for the size of the machine uniformaty ,,, big powered engine but when it came to final drives etc etc the stuff wasent able to withstand the punishment on the ground

    a fine old dozer from a different era she worked well with the likes of the old d9s but time has moved on ,, she was a fine dozer and indeed still is theres too much stuff on her to be stable her center of gravity is gone way up and the 41 is not stable on account of the little dozers stacked up so high and this is why she is shyimming and wagging around so much,, what has she got is it a cummins engine , just woundering all the best and its a good video of a great old dozer with a light undercarrige

    • @Colt-tf6xf
      @Colt-tf6xf 4 роки тому +1

      John Noonan the ones around home were 1710 v12 Cummins. They really sounded nice under load, and enough power to take out the finals. Caterpillar usually designed their dozers to be a little lame so the components would wear out, the competition usually pushed theirs to the limit and beyond so it seemed like they were doing more than a CAT, but the down time defeated the purpose . The old rule of thumb on locomotives and dozers is 10 horsepower per ton, if it's under it just won't push well, if it's over it spins the tracks and tears up the machine

    • @jakelehmann8524
      @jakelehmann8524 4 роки тому

      It wobbles because the lower carrier rollers are worn out and it's riding up on its idlers. When the grouser plates are new and out of phase left to right track it will lurch as it comes off the idler and into the dirt up into the worn rollers.

      @@Colt-tf6xf was that Cummins what they called “a dozen buzzin “ same motor they had in the Hays and Pacific off road logging trucks?

    • @Colt-tf6xf
      @Colt-tf6xf 3 роки тому +1

      @@barrygreenstein2816 I sort of doubt that, usually the buzzin dozen referred to 12-71 Detroit's that were used in trucks and Euclid equipment, I don't believe Allis Chalmers used any 12 v 71s in their machines, but they used many many others, 3-71,4-71,6-71 8v-71, and 6-110s. They may have used some 53s, but I do not know of them. The 1710 v-12 was actually a dirivetive of two 855s and shared the PT fuel system, too heavy for on-road without dual steering axles. Hope the response didn't put you to sleep 💤

    Some one said they had to much power for thier finals ,i disagree having put a lot of time on one,they had finals that were to weak period because they had no where near the pushing power of the d10 s amerikold mining used to keep a daily record of how much cubic yds a dozer pushed while stripping a d10 n had to get 4500 yds in ten hrs a 41 im sure would not ,to slow a d11r had to get 6500 yds this was easy to do if you didnt piss around if you ran it steady and backed up in secound gear 7000 plus was.doable more if material was fine!

      No your wrong, he's right the lower rollers are worn and it's riding up on the idlers as the grouser plate goes round and then in the dirt up into the worn roller, when the plates are not in phase left to right frame they lurch from side to side.
