Here's a tip for everyone studying for the NCLEX: Just remember A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I Obviously Airway, Breathing, Circulation, - D=Disability (LOC, GCS) - E=Exposure (removing clothing [burns for instance] and prevent heat loss) - F=Full Set Vitals/Focused Assessment (ECG's, tubings) - G=Give comfort (treating pain) - H=Head to toe/History - I=Inspect posterior
thanks for all your help. I made it through nursing school by using your videos. Now I just passed my nclex board and Just yesterday I have my active RN license. Every question remind me of your lecture.....log for novolog fast acting, and the list is long. You have the blessing. Alia
michael linares thank you so much I will be finished with my nursing this December and I had always had a hard time in prioritizing my patients nore than anything else it didn't make sense to me I am so grateful I stumbled across your channel now I feel very confident on what patient to prioritize thank you!
You are a life saver I’d love if you can do a more in-depth video using Maslow Hierarchy of Needs To how it pertains to-answering questions or just in general to patient care. it can get very confusing and you make the complex stuff easy. Thanks 🙏
In my last semester of nursing school and somehow this has always been glazed over, hence I always miss these questions, but no more!! Thanks Simple Nursing for breaking this down into a simple and easy to understand thinking process!! Will be sharing with others.
This video helped me pass my PN nclex. I took the text the first time and failed it. I watched this video and passed with flying colors. This was never explained well while i was in school
Seriously!! We have our first exam soon, and not one time has anyone taught us ABC's, safety, pt. prioritization/delegation or that you assess first. All of this I am learning here on youtube and through google searches. I'm still wondering what exactly am I paying the university for?!?!
Great Job Mike. I just wanted to add one thing I have found when studying for my RN-NCLEX. A lot of pre-test that I have taken have tripped me up with the level of survival rate. I have found during study's and to much practice test that this is too included.
Alot of this priority stuff ive learned so far is basically maslow's pyramid, and according to kaplan, he is right about pain because pain is an emotional thing which gets crossed out when answer questions, and to look for things that will kill ur patient fast
I just stumbled across this video looking for study tips for my NCLEX PN. I know most of these are probably for RN but they can be used for PN also right?
I'm enamored with this. I had the pleasure of reading something similar, and I was truly enamored. "The Art of Saying No: Mastering Boundaries for a Fulfilling Life" by Samuel Dawn
hey mike, ur videos lectures are great, i seen all of them, but i think i need help on the prioritation . im taking the NCLEX THIS SATURDAY IN PUERTO RICO
I got lost sorry. Just below labs, what’s the priority? Heart and testicles? Makes sense to me but wanted to make sure. Thanks. Good videos, thank you for all your work and help.

Mike in a sample NCLEX Question I got this wrong, and I don't quite understand the rationale, could you possibly make a video A nurse has been assigned to four clients in the emergency department, with each client experiencing one of these conditions. Which client should the nurse check first? Tension pneumothorax with slight tracheal deviation to the right This is the correct response Spontaneous pneumothorax with a respiratory rate of 38 Incorrect Acute asthma with episodes of bronchospasm Viral pneumonia with atelectasis INCORRECT. Learning Objective: Lesson 1 Tracheal deviation indicates a significant volume of air being trapped in the chest cavity with a mediastinal shift. In tension pneumothorax the tracheal deviation is away from the affected side. The affected side is the side where the air leak is in the lung. This situation also results in sudden air hunger, agitation, hypotension, pain in the affected side, and cyanosis with a high risk of cardiac tamponade and cardiac arrest.
I watched some of your videos which are excellent!! Can you please give us some scenarios regarding critical thinking. For example pt admitted with abdominal pain. during assessment found rigid abdomen. what will be the diagnosis, implementation & intervention. I know that it coould be perforation or hemorrage. I learned nursing outside America. If you provide some videos like that it would be great. Thanks in advance...
Nurse Mike, your quizzes are not free. I have tried several times to register and I was bounced. Can you tell me again how to access it? or you can send me the link here. Thank you.

ABCSP = airway, breathing, circulation, safety and pain. That's how we were taught in school.
Priority: ABC , Change of consciousness, Infection/sepsis, ABG, Pain
Post Op patients- first to assess
Airway obstruction - second to assess

Mike in a sample NCLEX Question I got this wrong, and I don't quite understand the rationale, could you possibly make a video
A nurse has been assigned to four clients in the emergency department, with each client experiencing one of these conditions. Which client should the nurse check first?
Tension pneumothorax with slight tracheal deviation to the right
This is the correct response
Spontaneous pneumothorax with a respiratory rate of 38
Incorrect
Acute asthma with episodes of bronchospasm
Viral pneumonia with atelectasis
INCORRECT.
Learning Objective: Lesson 1
Tracheal deviation indicates a significant volume of air being trapped in the chest cavity with a mediastinal shift.
What about a pt with risk for ICP vs a postop pt which one you take first
Thanks
nicely done vid, Mike!

Low quality video, high quality content
Hey Lishi, thanks homie :) Id love to do a video request for ya! Join my diamond membership & Ill throw up as many as you wishe!
So if you had three patients
1. With LOC
1. With sepsis
And 1. With labs
Which order would you put that in
Rachael Golden LOC first Bc it typically means hypoxia in the NCLEX
For sure man, you did a good job of explaining and putting everything together, But man that video quality is terrible, Thanks again this really helps.
WOW Alia! Congrats in passing your Boards!! Glad I had a part it your nursing success :) Do me a HUGE favor & post this comment on my fan page facebook(.)com/simplenursing !
;) Congrats again!! Hope you find a job soon!
so if someone is at risk for infection and also has acute pain 9/10 on scale how am i going to prioritize it? and is pain going to be high or moderate?
oddly enough pain comes last, after ABCs, safety & infection, and 9 of 10 is very HIGH pain
The info you supply is very good, but quit covering your board for visual learners.
Thanks so much! Be sure to take the free quiz here Simplenursing.com/nursing-school
Can’t you buy ring light??
wheres part 2
So im confused. If the labs correlate to cardio & lung dysfunction then its more important then infection?
And decreased LOC?
oh God...
Spell ASTHMA :D hehehe
