this whole video was a delight (it’s a testament to the sort of person you are that you have such generous and talented friends!) but wow that vintage flex nib is STUNNING! what a find
I know I’m a year late, but I’m loving this haul, especially the fountain pen section. I have so much the share. My standard advice for pen shows is to dedicate one FP friendly notebook. It can be used to document a “to do / to see” list and a “searching for” list. It’s also great to create a “catalog” of nib grinds from different grinders. Each nib grinder has a unique cut, and I like to sit at their tables (when they aren’t busy) to write out samples of all the grinds so I can think about what I might want to do before the next show or consider them as I’m buying. The Franklin Christoph table is always wild! My only FC is a pocket 66, and I think buying at the show is THE way to go because they adjust the nib on site. As a lefty who likes unconventional grinds, this is so helpful! Love Ian from Schon Dsgn! The pocket 6 is made of aluminum. He makes them in Philly and works with Japanese artisans to anodize them to get this fun designs. Fun fact, my friend and I met him years ago at a makers market in DC. At the time, he was only making ballpoints. We talked to him about fountain pens and told him about the DC pen show. He attended the next show DC (either late that year or next year…can’t remember when we met him). He got so excited about the show and the people, and the next year, he introduced the pocket 6 FP. Love a vintage writing instrument! You’re literally holding history, which is so frickin cool! You got a beautiful one. 😮 ⬅️ Literally my face when pulled out that Plotter. I cannot get over the yellow leather! I need to plan a trip to the SF pen show if they’re still doing customs there. They don’t do them in DC. ☹️ Amazing haul! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Job, what a great haul and gifts you received from friends at the SF pen show! 3 favorites is a tough one… I bought the same model 66 Franklin-Christoph pen, but a different color with a broad cursive italic at the DC pen show. Love the vintage Waterman! I bought 2 vintage Waterman’s at the DC pen show one a fine flex and the other a broad nib. It was my first venture into vintage pens also and I’m sure it will be the new rabbit hole since I’m finding them to be such great pens! Loved the stamps you bought. They will be great for swatching inks. The two items you bought that will go on my wish list is your vintage Waterman! I will be on the hunt for that model now! Loved the color, lever fill and nib. And Abby’s new Travel Journal book! Enjoy all your goodies and thanks for sharing! I signed up for your Patreon!
Great haul Job! Awesome gifts from your friends as well. I watch Abbey's videos too and she has done really great for herself. Congratulations to her and her endeavors! Enjoy all your goodies Job👍☺
Great purchases Job....I have been collecting vintage fountain pens for almost 30 years and I think it's wonderful that your first vintage FP is a Waterman. Waterman inks are great for vintage pens as they are so well behaved and there are some colours I think you would like too.
What a treat! I definitely needed your calming demeanor and joy, I'm working through covid and with a phone interview tomorrow, yikes! I'd LOVE to know what that planner is you have, I see a superior labor Co cover but ahhh that would be perfect for work for me!
Wow, so many lovely items, and what great friends! I don't have a proper stationery shop in my town, but I love the idea of like...a monthly destash day hosted at a shop 😅 Best of luck with Patreon!!
I love all of this video but that Green Lamy Al Star made me gasp! I had one, it was one my first fountain pens, and it's the only pen I've lost. Seeing yours gave me hope to keep trying to find one. Thanks for the inspiration!
I am fairly new to the fountain pen world. But, I got to go to the St Louis Pen show in June. It did not have all the paper & journal products that you found at the SF one. I love it all ❤️
The vintage Waterman:swoon💚the multi-color Travelers Company Notebook, Ink bottle stamps🖤Crab penholder 🙂Ricksha sleeves 👍Happy creative New Year, you are talented🌠yay for Patrion 🍁
I loved everything you were gifted and purchased. I wanted to go to the pen show so bad since I am only 100 miles from The City, but could not make it this year. Maybe next year. You saw so many people I love and follow! The Silo's are in Waco Texas. The dream of Chip and Joanna Gains. Headed to the Patreon sign-up page.
That was super fun to watch. I LOVE your excitement and appreciation for everything. So happy for you! Hope you have a fantastic new year of stationery in 2023!
I’m looking forward to getting Abbey’s book, but you’ve been in a book before, right? I remember it was an anthology of some kind-urban sketching maybe?
I'm only about a third into the video as I write this, but aaaa! Beautiful supplies! I haven't used the Traveler's Notebook in a few years because reasons, but I fell back in love with the system after two recent trips to TRAVELER'S FACTORY KYOTO this summer. On an unrelated note, I have to ask. Do you remember a band called The Moffatts? They focus more on the twins now, and that act is now known as Music Travel Love. They record so many music videos with beautiful nature footage from around the world.
FUN FACT! Rare Device was originally owned by Lisa Congdon and her partner when they lived in SF many years ago, and then sold the business to Giselle who runs it now 😊
Love this haul Job!! Quick question but who did you say that you bought the vintage waterman fountain pen from? I was hoping to reach out to him to see if he sells vintage pens online too
Very interesting but sometimes you don’t show products cantered on the camera, you keep them at the very bottom of the screen and we can’t see ( e.g. at 48:06 )! this is a pity!

I was at the show, now I'm wondering where we brushed shoulders 😂
I picked up the hand hammered pen form Schon Design. I love it! And they were so nice.
An hour long haul? Yesss!!! 🍳🥚

Love to see these hauls but kinda bummed that most of the things you were holding were out of frame. 😞 Sounds like you had a lot of fun 😊.
Very nice😊
Love the vintage pen 😉👍🏻 and the ink bottle stamps
Still catching up but I joined!!
