If the LRC and LRC coaches could speak, they'd probably be crying after being apart for over a decade. LRC coaches being pulled by the F40's and P42's just doesent look as good as a LRC pulling its proper coaches
LRC locomotive: *sobbing* I've been separated from you for years due to me and the others being unreliable. It's good to be back with you my trusty coaches.
Welcome back to the fastest train in Canada! I'd hate to see it stranded in the Toronto Railway Heritage Centre, it should be running excursions on the main line!
reaperexpress I agree. At least let it do a Kingston sub tour once and a while. Makes no sense to spend the money to restore it to operating condition only for it to go back to doing what it did before the restoration. Just sitting there doing nothing.
im a carman at tmc and its cool to see 6917 running on the rails again after seeing it idle in the yard for so long.. thanks for preserving a part of canadas rail history.
Nice to see one LRC engine preserved. I worked the American LRC train from Boston to New Haven, Ct and it was an interesting locomotive. The only thing I didn't like as an Engineer was the slow rate of acceleration whether from a dead stop or from idle to full throttle on the move. She had the power though I always wondered why Amtrak couldn't repower an F40PH with the ALCO power package as they were much quieter and used less fuel than an F40PH did or just build a new passenger locomotive with the 251F V-16 even though it's showing it's age now.
I'm glad to see the 6917 running from it's own power,I gaved few doantions to TRHA and I reserved my LRC,6917 with sound, and my friend reserved the 6921..I choosed 6917 cause it's the only one that are fully operational, and also, becuse when buying 6917,Rapido Train keep an amout on the price, for TRHA to preseve the 6917,I think it's time to do a run on the corridor, what about Toronto to Montreal, then to Quebec city, and come back,an do it in 2016,to commemorate the LRC Bombardier locomotive, that have been retired from service in 2001..
Would love to see a TRTO-MTL train with this on the front end (even a special railfan or throwback trip) And on that trip it'd better hit 130mph! (whatever it takes, even if it means braking track speed for like 10km)
Great news, glad to see her up and running. Excellent choice of music to support the video, sounds like a variation on a great running movie, Chariots of Fire.
I remember when 6910 with last minute hand brake adjusting, half of her still in Montréal Bombardier´s plant, and half of it outside on her delivery day. Few hours later, passing west in Montréal Nord going to VIA. She will never pass there again and will be scrapped. Clean, shiny, spiffy and brand new ! The plant too was demolished.
I was interested to see how smooth the underside of the coaches are. Makes sense for the design brief. Just never something that would be seen from trackside.
Is there an update on 6917? Via the website, the last update was that it was to be painted but there isn't much else. Still, well done! My childhood home was near the Kingston VIA station. Every time we took one to Toronto, I felt like I was in the future.
I wish I could see these in Oshawa, all I ever see is F40's and P42's zooming trough oshawa with Renaissance carriages, and sometimes LRC cars, and once in a while, Blue VIA rail cars, like the kind used with the blue and yellow FP7s and FP9s VIA rail used. Another locomotive I wish I could see is the FPA-4
+Matt Brine Here in the US, the F40's are nearly extinct, the budd coaches are gone and you guys are lucky up in canada since you don't scrap everything that doesn't work anymore. Some days I wish I could go to your country for railfanning.
+Jagged bacon I agree. I am Canadian but I went on a cross country train trip from Portland to LA and I only saw the F40 once on the train from Portland to Boston. The P42 is basically the flagship locomotive for Amtrak. But you guys have electrified trains like the AEM and the ACS-64.
That's true, but scrapping things like the AEM-7 are unceremonious and even though they're a big staple of amtrak's history, nothing was done to preserve them properly (I.E, left outside.)
Just so I can learn about the LRC, why is there a difference with the bell on the actual unit to the bell on the Ho scale model. My LRC says it was recorded sound from the real 6917 but my bell sounds nothing like that. My bell rings like a railroad crossing tempo.
Not much to report at the moment, but 6917 is operable. Needs some restoration still but the focus has been on the RDC and Edmundston for the last while.
I wonder why they haven't kept those?? Do they want to bring them back now?? Did they use up or waste too much fuel?? What is the reason? Mon Dieu, une réponse svp!
Like the trucking industry and shipping industry, old diesels in the railroad industry don't meet today's environmental pollution standards. And these environmental regulations are getting stricter...
ua-cam.com/video/HzIBVbt1dIg/v-deo.html I just wanted to say this is by far the best super detailed HO model I've brought so far...durability and quality is wonderful! I plan on getting more LRC's and the cars also. Keep up the awesome work!!

Specially the P42 ! Who can possibly design such an horrible and grotesque thing ?

There are two LRC locomotives preserved: 6917 and 6921.
I love those old transtronic E-bells
Very nice to see 6917 with LRC coaches again! Congratulations everyone! :)
Its good to see a locomotive from LRC get preserved. Now it's back to life
This is bringing tears to my eyes well done boys
Doesn't get much more Canadian then that driving around in a via train with a large double double lol
It's a beauty way to go!
CONGRATULATIONS I had been waiiting for this train to run again
Pleasure to see this high quality film. More please!!
Congrats to all involved!

As us Americans i really wish amtrak kept there LRC's because they looked so good in there phase ||| livery

So unfortunate how casually history gets erased.
Thank you, that was fantastic,
Glad you enjoyed it!

1:35 It's so beautiful!
Nice to see an LRC engine running again with the proper LRC carriages! If only you could do a high speed run.
That would be cool, we'd love to see happen that one day!
Tim hortons in the cab! Nice! Theres some of those in Michigan!
Always need a cup of Timmy's!
great job!!!! :}
Very nice !
Fantastic :-)
She’s runnin again
Now we just need to get it up to track speed.
I realy want to see a return of these trains my dad has told me well of them
It would be interesting to see how #6917 would fare out after an emissions test. LOLOL
Great video!!!
Probably not very well these days!

So what's the long term plan for 6917? Excursions?
I low key hope so
The passenger wagons looks very alike the UK NRI Intercity 125 class trains (those ones are contemporary and comparative between themselves)
VIA actually ordered a bunch of cars from the UK in the early 2000s, but they didn't do so well in the Canadian winter.
Super!!!
👍
That's really cool what was done! Although, I wish it didn't have that bell, it annoys me. Put in a steel bell.
he need to restored the lrc
This locomotive needs a full restoration and a fresh coat of paint and needs to be flying down the tracks!
That’s the plan! Someday at least. 🤓
They could make an LRC 2.0 instead of the F40s they're using
LRC 2.0 would be neat. But that would be like making a steam engine in the 1970s...
Yessssssssssssssssssssssssss

The LRC was delivered with a steel bell. In the late 1990s, the remaining units received an E-bell.
Wow 👌 👏 😍
👍
I did not see Michael Guy in the film credits.
The best images would be a side by side with one of the scb-40 sets
That will be cool to see!
@@rapidotrains ik, and if its also with a f-40 or a f unit that would be epic
Did you know that the 6917 was the lead unit on the Pope's train in 1984
Yes - we have some photos!
I don,t know why they discontinued the lrc they were by far the best and fastest locomotives
They were great little engines but they were plagued with electrical issues.
What about the lrc you guys had powered back up?
Where was this footage shot?
Hmmm dat Alco smoke.
So the end goal is to get this thing up to 125, right?
what are they going to do now with 6917 now since its operational?
It still needs extensive work, but they hope to get it on the mainline again.
What’s the situation nearly a decade on?
Are they still working on this?

Is 6917 the only LRC left or are there more? Also, since it's fully operational will it be running on the Quebec City Windsor corridor some day?
There is also LRC #6921 at Expo Rail. With that one left, it brings the number to 2 preserved LRC locomotives.
Even though their in running condition they might not be used at via anymore but maybe expeditions in the future
maybe 6917 and other preserved lrcs could be restored back to mainline service
We are trying to do that to 6917.
thank you
Is the locomotive still in service?
No. They were all retired in 2001.
Any updates on 6917 and what is going on?
Not much to report at this time. It's stored safe and sound however!
Where is the 6917 now I sincerely hope it will go to a good museum
6917 is securely stored with the rest of our equipment at VIA’s Toronto maintenance centre.
ua-cam.com/video/HzIBVbt1dIg/v-deo.html I just wanted to say this is by far the best super detailed HO model I've brought so far...durability and quality is wonderful! I plan on getting more LRC's and the cars also. Keep up the awesome work!!
So, any updates since then?
Not yet. We're hoping for some news sooner rather than later.
High Speed Rail please ... asap
That would be nice!
Why were the LRCs retired so early?
They just proved to be too unreliable.
What kind of engine was put into the LRCs?
An Alco/MLW 16-251F w/HEP rated at 3700hp
Alco Designed 16-251F Built by Montreal Locomotive Works
Where is the locomotive now? Any updates?
It's still at VIA TMC.
