That's so cool! They grow pretty fast too. I have a finger lime tree I planted in the ground between 2 guava trees less than 2 years ago and it was smaller than yours but now its about 8 feet tall and it produced so many limes these past few weeks and it's still going! I'm hooked. Now I want to grow the red variety too. You will truly enjoy those limes. So very good on seafood, salads and in tea. Much luck and blessings to you and your family 🙏❤

Really! Thanks for the feedback. So they like a little shelter. What zone are you in or location? What kind of soil do naturally have? I can't wait to get some fruit from this tree. Do you have soil media? I would love to see a picture of it. Thank you for watching 🙂

@@GardenloveHomestead I live in north Florida zone 9a in a small house. The soil is a bit sandy but pretty rich too. Lots of grass and weeds. I also have it in between my and my neighbors house. Kind of like a live fence. The branches overlap with the guavas but it doesn't seem to mind at all. I read somewhere that putting young citrus next to guava trees helps repel citrus greening but I dont know if thats true or not. But i will say its doing really good there. I also fertilized it in early spring and put occasional compost tea around it. I wish I could upload a picture in the comments. I hope this helps and that your tree grows really good for you! 💕

Thank you for showing us about taking the tie backs off. When I walk around my neighborhood I see full grown trees and rose trees and all sorts of plants tied to stakes that are so tight you can see the plant trying to build bark around the tie. There are stakes on plants whose trunk has grown sturdier than the stake. Ridiculous!! So many people never think about the ongoing needs of the plant once it’s in the ground. Thank you for showing us the proper way to care for staked plants‼️

You should put a few stones around the holes on the bottom of the pot to prevent the finger lime root not coming out of there, also need to add compost 50% to the soil

How exciting, how old is it? Is it on a container or in the ground? What zone are you in or located? Sorry for all the questions just try to learn a little 🙂 I'm not sure what color lime this tree is.

@@GardenloveHomestead its less than a year old, just in a small 3 gallon grow bag. Only about 1 foot tall so I'm not expecting any fruit just yet. I am in Australia so i would say similar climate to California. Sorry don't know zones but we get light frosts occasionally never freezing temperatures or anything. Happy to help, your container growing videos were very helpful to me when i was starting out last year. There is some footage of it in one of my recent videos if you want to check it out.

Hi there finger limes are pretty hardy but if you over fertilise the will drop a lot of existing leaves and you can over water them so I've found in pots it pays to let dry out between watering. All the best and happy gardening and G'day from Australia.👍

We love limes, hive it a try. Key limes are great to grow in pots and they produce a good amount on a small tree.

Got mine a month ago but its pretty young from what I can tell and its growing rather slow. Most the thorns on it are not hard and pokey yet but cant wait for it to start flowering

Wow your trees are looking awesome. Plus your hillside is looking beautiful. I love that purple bush on your hillside. What size pot is that that you have for your finger lime tree?

Hi, thank you so much! I'm trying 😅 the finger lime is in an approximately 30 to 40 gallon container. I think it's a 35 gallon. I have two of them I'm about to transplant the other one.

You're so detailed and easy to understand about how to grow this stuff. Big Thanks to you Garden Love we all appreciate you.

Got one in the ground and hasn’t done anything for me but it looks healthy..it is in a shadier spot but I think I will be moving it back into a container. The other one I had in a container in full sun is gone ..R.I.P. will try to figure out what will work best for this remaining one.

    • @GardenloveHomestead
      @GardenloveHomestead  2 роки тому +1

Ho no, I hope the other one makes it. I'm surprised because you live in zone10, right? I read that they love tropical weather. How long has it been in The ground?

@@GardenloveHomestead I’m 9b … not a problem with cold but my finger limes didn’t grow fast and have a problem with the branches dying back. Maybe it was just the ones I had or maybe the soil. But I think too much full sun is not the best thing for them.. the one in the shady spot didn’t have branch die back issues just very slow growth.

I have a question regarding watering plants that are in containers (or barrels)
With using a soil meter, if the soil near the trunk is dry but the soil that is near the rim of the container (or barrel) is wet, should I still water the soil that’s near the trunk? Or don’t water at all?
Would love to read your thoughts on that.
    Thank you 🙏🏽

    • @GardenloveHomestead

Hi, really important that you water eventually and that you have mulch on it. Just do no ot put mulch on the truck move it about an inch or two away the from the truck. If those two inches of soil from the trunk to the much Is a little more dry then the rest, thats fine. As long as the rest of the soil has a little moisture. It's really important that you have your tree in really well draining soil. I posted a video on Testing Different Soils for Draining. Check it out. I hope this answers your questions. 😁
