This is such a great song! John’s singing is amazing and just perfect for his voice! What a great arrangement. So simple and at the same time it has everything it needs.
I figured that chord out by ear back in the 80s and have always felt proud of myself but now Ive found out of course it wasnt exactly right, I didnt know about the pinky note. So far everything I ever learned by ear turned out to be wrong since the internet, it's embarrassing to think of what I sounded like playing everything wrong.
George Harrison must have created more memorable intros, fills, solos than any other guitarist of recognition. Never flash but well crafted and thoughtful.
Hi Mike! You said in this vid that it is a forgotten song of theirs. Not in my world. I've loved this tune since I was a kid. And I learned more Beatles history. Which blows my mind! I always thought it was John playing that opening chord because he started right off singing lead vocal and continued singing lead. To now learn it was George that played the opening guitar is outstanding to learn. Thanks for doing this vid of one of my favorite Beatles songs. Peace and Love 🎸🎼🎶
Mike...you make it look so easy...but sometimes it's not !! Being at the young age they were, they were masters at what they did !! Great Job ... thanks for the sound alike....
A highly underrated classic. At the end of a recording session, John said, "I have something more" and pulled it out of his pocket. Most of the takes were false starts since the other Beatles had never heard it before.
Wow, Mike your rendition of "All I've Got to Do", was unbelievable! You are amazing! I am 70 years Old and had forgotten about that song. You brought it back. You talent has really brought back the amazing God Given music that the Beatles performed. It changed my life at 11-12 years of age. But you my friend have allowed this carryover of their music with your blessed Talent. You are sharing something that I could hardly learn in the day. Their music created a porthole as to where I was going throughout my life. And, it was fantastic. Thank you for your equal talent. Thank you for everything you do. Hey, I have even learned songs that I thought could never happen. The Beatles were famous, however you are famous. Thank you
I too, a 70+ yrs oldie, me and my mates just recently added this gem to our song list. We just thru it in one evening and we all just nailed it and had a ball revisiting a great song we should have been doing for many years. But it's definitely locked in. And thanks for that top end chord. Little debate on it, but we already got it later. Great job in the details.
Ah-ha!! This is the first rock 'n' roll song where the bass plays two strings. This kind of stuff amazes me. It is the dominant rhythm guitar in the recording. I learn something new every day.
Fantastic lesson as always Mike. An underrated and often forgotten classic this. Guitars are so simple but effective. Great harmonies on your sound alike - top work
I love that your commitment to replicating the track goes so far as to include the almost flub near the end when John has trouble squeezing in that "yes". Great work, as always.
I always loved this song. Man, John had a keen sense of rhythm. George as always played excellent counterpoint to him. Thanks as always for your videos. ❤️👍✌️
Love the sound of that Gibson acoustic. Been playing since 1978 and haven’t ever bought an acoustic. That should be considered crime worthy! Great lesson Mike!
With the Beatles is a vastly underrated album. Despite the simple recording techniques, it has a great of atmosphere. Don't Bother Me, which people rag on, but I think it's the first hard rock tune just based on the dark atmosphere. One of my fav's along with Rubber Soul and Revolver! Oh, let's face it there are no bad Beatle records.
Terrific job, as always. Really, really appreciate what you do. I've always felt that this great gem and its cousin, "It Won't Be Long", matched the stark black-and-white look of the two albums on which it appeared, and contributed the overall mood of those two albums- which I've loved since childhood.
Wow!! Awesome!! One of my favourite Beatle songs of all time, I'd say it's in the Top 10. I've been listening to that song and album since it came out. I was 4 years old at the time but had 3 older brothers and my oldest brother who was 16 then had it. I wore that album out. That album turned me onto the Beatles forever!! I'm now in a British Invasion Band for the past 16 years and we do that song and never knew about the E6 chord and the Baby finger on the opening Jazz chord...Awesome Mike!! Thanks a Million....Again!!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I have had the first three Beatles albums on permanent rotation in my car for 4+ years and have listened to All I've Got to Do hundreds of times. It, along with "I Call Your Name," are probably my two all time favorite Beatles songs. That drum beat always sounded like the Arthur Alexander song "Anna" to me.
As usual. that was terrific Mike! Now that's a typical John Lennon classic tune for certain! I remember listening to that album for hours at a time. Those were the good old days of real music. Anyway, hope that you have a very Happy Holiday Season! Be well... 👍👍🌲🌲🌲🌲👍👍
"And the same goes for me..." part always does something to me that is beyond my understanding. Now I probably know why. The way they brought the A major in the middle of this just does it, I think. Magic = Fab 4.❤
Meet the Beatles, the Capitol release of With The Beatles, is looked down upon by some “aficionados” because it’s not the UK release but it began the US journey into Modern Rock music. Thanks Mike, I own a well worn copy of “The Beatles Scores” and you add what’s missing from that volume, adding to my enjoyment.
Really great treatment of this overlooked gem of a song. One tip that makes it easier to play. From the C#minor to play an E "all you got to do" is move your pinky from one string to another and play the E with a C shape barre. C# and E appear a lot in Beatles songs and from what I can tell this is how they play it.
I learned that opening chord several years ago. But the E6 I wasn't playing it. Now I do and it definitely adds to the song. Good work and it is not an easy song to sing, especially breaking up and elongated "I'll be there" part. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Love it, love it, love it! One of my fav Beatles songs. Cheers and Merry Christmas, Mike! Stay well! Ah...I can hear the next track now....! "Close your eyes, ...." :-)
Thanks Mike Pachelli. When Im listening to most of your Beatles covers, I forget that it's not the Beatles Im listening to. This one is interesting in lots of ways. Im a bassist /guitarist and keys player and Ive been listening to this song since around 64/65 or so. Until now I didnt realise that McCartney was playing chords (more than one note) in parts of this song. Well spotted. I think thats because it's one of the few Beatles song,s I havnt covered. Once again I take my hat off to you and Macca of course. I enjoy your videos very much and would recommend your videos, not just to beginners but veterans too. Thanks again.
@@MPfrance No, you did fine. I'm really enjoying these off the beaten path early tunes you are doing lately. I guess I've gotten a little burnt on the later stuff. To hear the backstory on this 1 is fascinating. Clearly, he practiced this one A LOT before presenting it to the band
Mike that was as usual, fantastic. I've been busy so haven't had a chance to see your videos. I'll try to get caught up now. Again you did a great job on this one.
The C#m to E at the 4th position in the verses here is the same progression they did in All My Loving during the "all my loving I will send to you..." portion. Classic sound that was used a bit in their early years.
Ever considered doing "Just to Dance with You"? Struggling with the triplets and chord changes. Thanks for honoring the Beatles! Really enjoy your lessons!
Amazing as ever, Mike. I’ve learned so much from your excellent and forensic videos, both in terms of my Beatles knowledge and own playing. Is there a chance you could ever do When We Was Fab, the solo Harrison song that most evokes that Beatles sound for me? It has some weird chord sounds in it and, while there are scores on line, they’re all different and I don’t feel any of them get the sound quite right. Would love to see you nail it. Best, Sam
Mike, I'd love it if you'd do a lesson on their "To Know Her is to Love Her" cover from the BBC beatles CD.. There are no youtube lessons on that song period.
Very nice Mke! BTW, I'm an amateur guitar player and I've always thought that this song and "It Wont Be Long" interestingly, (to me at least) are right next to each other on the "Meet The Beatles" album AND both songs have the same chords but sound totally unrelated musically. I wonder if you might check that out and possibly comment or make a video about that.
Anyone know Stephen Bishop who wrote the songs Separate Lives and On and On? This is his favorite Beatle song! (Became great friends with Clapton back in 1975).
The opening chord alone is worth the price of admission...
i’ve thought that forever.good ear.
This is such a great song! John’s singing is amazing and just perfect for his voice! What a great arrangement. So simple and at the same time it has everything it needs.

As a beatles freak for more than 50 years and a bedroom guitar player this channel is just magic. Thanks a lot for all you do.
Ditto.
George Harrison must have created more memorable intros, fills, solos than any other guitarist of recognition. Never flash but well crafted and thoughtful.
Mike almost 60 years ago I got my hands on that album it was the first song that I figured out how to play. brings back so many memories thanks
It is amazing how, even though Beatles music seems simple, there is always a lot going on in their recordings.

crikey - what a fantastic lesson. I'd be happy to play even one part of this song as well as you do.
Always loved that song and you did a fabulous cover--thanks.
That was always one of my favorites. Congrats. to you Mike for putting this all together! 👏🏻🥂. You tha man!

It sure is.
Great lesson and so much fun to watch you do the final recording of all the parts. It really brings it all together. Thanks Mike.
I love this tune.
One of my favs …thanks so much Mike
Thanks so much for doing all of these Mike. A genuine treasure trove of goodness … like all your dedicated work.

All I've got to do is one of the rare Beatles songs we lost out of our thoughts. Mike lets us discover it again. Thank you.
Don't Bother Me has a touch of Link Wray in it. Good stuff!
One of my favourites ❤
Great channel Mike ... really love the care and thoughtfulness you put into these videos.
Thank you for doing that forgotten gem . Some of the best Beatle tracks are the non hits
Great choice. I love this song.

All the years I've been playing this song, I never knew about that E6 chord .Great vlog Mike.

I agree. Great job Mike and Merry Christmas from Oz
Man, John puts a lot of nuance in the vocals. So early on and he can really sing
Willriii - He sure did! And I couldn't get close to how great John sang it. Actually, I had bronchitis when I did the sound-alike...

Interesting that this was written 100% by John and so early on, back in 61. I love all the little facts and backstory to the songs! Thanks Mike!
Perfect as always Mike!
Keith - VERY kind of you to say!
@@MPfrance Merry Christmas Mike....and a fab 2023.
Great stuff Mike. I never fail to learn something. I was doing that E6 and I was barring the A. Merci encore.
John was such an underrated guitar player.
outstanding...God bless you brother 😎
Mike that was as usual, fantastic. I've been busy so haven't had a chance to see your videos. I'll try to get caught up now. Again you did a great job on this one.

Brilliant analyse as used to be... thank you!

Love the syncopation in the tune all around

Brilliant! 👍😃
Masterful

great. thank you
Mike great lesson!! I hope that you do a lesson on the great licks on “You Never Give Me Your Money” soon!!
Christian - Thanks. That one isn't on my 'to-do' list as yet. There are still a number of guitar driven songs I want to do.
Excellent
Thank you Mike for introducing me to this song I'd never heard before (shame on me!).

Terrific, as usual. Now how about I’m Looking Through You?

One of my favorites. The vocal in the verse has a sinuous quality that always feels vaguely oriental to me.
A very sexy song. And bridge with the harmonies just punches you in the gut. Truly an under-appreciated recording
