Now that he's being scrutinized, his chesscom ratings have dropped 200-500 points below their peaks.

But he isn't playing the tournaments like he's always done. He never played patzer tournaments for most of his career. He only started playing them recently, and almost all his rating gains in recent years are off patzers. Recently, most of the OTB tourneys he plays are patzer tournaments. @@62calum it's not detrimental for them either, I'm sure most of those very low rated players are actually happy that they get a chance to play a good and famous player, it's a treat for a low rated aspiring player. they barely lose any rating from it if any with such an elo difference, due to how the elo system works. you're getting offended in other people's name for no reason.
You're confusing two separate things. Chesscom DOES give back elo to the players he beats in his speedrun series. He uses specially created accounts for it and it's a part of the official deal between him and them, that the rating is returned to the beaten players afterwards. Here, they're talking about a local live blitz tournament in his home town that he plays in.
