    that was a unique cool down on those ingots they took time to get through the wax

      @meltingipswich  Місяць тому +1

      Yeah I think I let them cool a little to long 👍

    The wax didn't catch fire. How odd.

      Yeah I think I let them cool a lot to long but it was still satisfying to watch 😂

    Do you wash the cans out before you melt them Bro ? or don"t it Matter

    • @meltingipswich
      @meltingipswich  Місяць тому

      It don’t matter but I rinse every can as they go mouldy if you don’t

    Waste of time, takes a lot of cans and a lot of slag to make an ingot. Then it's the softest aluminum you can get, not suitable for machining. I get old bike parts from a shop and make great machinable ingots

      Ok that’s great for what you want to do. And this is great for what I want to do with it.

    In my experience melting aluminum i find melting can is the least interesting and the least profitable . Still it is relaxing.

    • @meltingipswich
      @meltingipswich  Місяць тому +1

      Yeah but I can’t turn them around or even throw them away I have a lot more cans to melt around 3000cans

      @@meltingipswich i saw a video of this guy melting cans using a forge but the lis was a cone shape that spiraled in his crucible. He was able to put many cans in the cone and while the cans fell into the crucible , the others were being preheated. It looked very efficient.

      @@meltingipswich well if you're melting that many cans then it may be worth a place on your to do list

    Do you tally how much gas you’re using? Subtract that from your yield value and I bet you are barely breaking even. Don’t get me wrong it’s a cool hobby, but it seems unlikely you are going to break the bank smelting pop cans

    • @meltingipswich
      @meltingipswich  Місяць тому

      Hi there I don’t pay for gas but if I did as you say it would not be worth it but on the other hand everyone’s hobby normally cost money rather than make money. It’s something I really enjoy doing. Thank you for watching 👍
