    I’m so happy i stayed to listen to the latest minutes of your video-class-motivation-philosophy-chat. What a profound human message! My expertise is on other fields, but you know what, I’m going to follow your humble example! Thanks for all you do, share and give!

    I've got a tendancy to mix too dark, especially if I neglect to reference other material. Air3 has been a lifesaver in that regard. Instead of fiddling with a high-shelf and risking being too heavy-handed with it, a slight boost of Air or a cut of Ground usually does the trick. Looking forward to experimenting with Air4.
    Chris, you're a legend and thank you for all that you do!

    I didn't expect you to drop Phife's name; his death was a sad turn. RIP
    I miss Steve because he made me look like a soft-spoken humanist in comparison. Remember his Steely Dan rant? Savage... but accurate. 😂
    As always, big thanks for all your hard work, Chris. 🙏

      Steely Dan haters are funny. I'm a scientist at heart like my Dad was, so I'm not even mad. Steve started out the edgiest boy imaginable, but he was SO good of a human that he looked at how he affected others and made himself better and took responsibility for who he was. I admire that, and I admire anybody who can try to learn and grow

      @@airwindows I listen to everything, and I don't *hate-hate Steely Dan-dislike would be a better word-but many of the arena-friendly seventies bands do grate on my nerves, especially when they've historically been overplayed.
      I never met Steve, but *years back at Graceland, in the PNW (better known to those much older than me as the Off Ramp,) I met a band who mentioned that they'd recorded with him, and made a point to say that they were surprised to find that he was actually a much nicer guy than they'd been led to believe by the scene and its stories. XD

    This is an incredible tool! Thank you so much Chris, I've been able to increase my patreon membership to the next tier. It's still not nearly enough, but I hope to increase more going forward. Air4 + Dubly3 + Discontinuity is a magic chain for the top end. Then, Meter helps to dial in all the deliciousness. You certainly are an inventive creator!

      @@airwindows Yes! Win-Win. At this point I'm not professional and getting paid for this, but I'm making inroads in that direction. And, what is so great about your inventions is that I learn deep audio insights along with accessing new devices. I had only the barest understanding of slew until I found your tools. There is no better way to learn concepts than by doing! Thank you so much for turning learning into action and doing. So much better than reading about slew in my big red radiotron book ;-)

    I used to have 4,632,842 plugins. It was overwhelming. I ended up resetting my computer and knocking them all off the box. I picked up a few choice pieces of outboard gear, and now only use Aiwindows and stock plugins. I'm genuinely more happy now and more productive

    Perfect timing Chris :) I was just mastering a new track over the weekend using Meter and a few sneaky peaks were creeping though when I was trying to get that bit extra on top, but this had completely saved it today and it sounds great now! Thank you so much for all your work, I really dig your views and what you're working toward. Meter has been a big ear opener since it came out. I was horrified at a few of my tracks when I first put them through but when I put others from artists I really like through they came out really well (double horror) So I started working on the top end and realising just how bright I'd got used to working, now after a few weeks I've been able to dial that back and recalibrate my ears so to speak, and its a whole lot nicer and less fatiguing. Thanks again, you're a truly amazing chap creating superb plugins!!

      When I am OK enough to do that, I promise you I will. I have ConsoleX to finish, and I am trying to be good and have hope. There's lots of people worse off than me, I have my work and I'm really quite a boring ordinary person who doesn't have much. I'm doing as much as I can for people while I can, in case things turn real bad, or indeed while they do (since I won't stop just 'cos of that)

    Remarkable, in the dictionary sense of the word. No flattery meant. This, and the cards are great for fundraising. Audio finalization (called “mastering”), with presets for established peaks for various “genres,” or literally, sound envelopes? This is Very popular, with extremely few reputable options under $1000s. The most generous are providing the basic, full app(s) with 50-250 free, essential pre-sets. Then there can be 5.,10. & 20.$ paid audio finalization preset packs by you, for your exclusive remuneration. It all seems an honorable way to be reaching the goals you mentioned. Thank you 🙏 for your work and have the best weekend possible!!! ~ stefan

    • @airwindows
      @airwindows  Місяць тому +1

      Remember mastering is CHOOSING how the music is to engage with the pattern of peaks and slew-peaks you see. I'm simply making tools where anybody can see what formerly is supposed to be 'unhearable' (peaks), and showing why they're important instead. Once you know, you choose what to do with 'em. And yeah, fancy card decks or physical goods is the only way I'll do fundraising, only if I need to, and I'll make the graphics available for people to make their own (in unfancy form) :)

    the ulaw encoder and decoder effects got me really interested in similar vsts, there's not a lot of effects out there which encode and decode signals to apply distortion

    Chris is this essentially the same as the ToTape8 bias control, but with EQ beforehand, an adjustable "slew threshold" (Dark F) and a wet/dry knob on the slew limiting (Range)? I'm a bit confused about the differences between GoldenSlew, Sinew, ToTape8 Bias and Air4.

    • @airwindows
      @airwindows  Місяць тому +1

      No, but they're all 'slew controls' in different ways. It's literally Air3 with Sinew added and then a dry/wet control on just the Sinew part. Sinew fooled me: it was so clean that I didn't hear what it was doing until I had Meter to study it, I only heard the 'grungy extreme' area of Sinew. Where GoldenSlew uses a bunch of slewclippers to smooth things. Sinew is a slew softclipper from the start. I'm going to get a lot of use out of it, and it's MIT open source so now it's a piece everyone can use.

    ALL GREAT. THANK YOU. I'm an airwindows user! I'm thinking about the parameter's usable range after their zero point. Just very little movements enough to adjust normal states. But still there are some huge numbers(and distance) un'usable after that average position. For example here; 0.822 is too high but you reach there barely moving the mouse. And even adjust to back to normal state: you have to go with more short moves via mouse. Do we need any solution? I don't know... Just thinking about to adjust the average levels with more moving space to fine tuning easily. I know there is, in ableton, pressing the shift button and mouse starts to move slowly. Yes it works but: Why the range of movements are very tight for any adjustments?

    After doing a quick google it looks like fighter jet sensors use kalman filters instead of notch filters because they deal with phase relations better

    I am wondering if I am using these plugins in their optimum order and what other folks out there are doing order-wise....my current setup in Reaper (on the Master) is Zoom, Tube, Weight, Desk4, 0 Console Special, Air 4, NJAD 24 then Meter. I have minimal settings , especially on 0 Console, but it does seem to be better with it on and doing nothing! Air 4 and Weight are current kings. But Then so is Zoom and Tube. Any variants/ suggestions?

  • @jackflynn-oakley1937
    @jackflynn-oakley1937 Місяць тому +1

    Wizardry. I’m obsessed with high frequency limiters lol. What type of filter is the ‘air’ band and what frequencies is it boosting exactly?

    • @airwindows
      @airwindows  Місяць тому

      It is a Kalman filter, so it doesn't know what a frequency is. It's watching for sudden alterations in the curves it expects to see, which means it looks for 'transients', not for any frequency. It's a little tricky, I admit.

    do you have a mathematical explanation as to how youre vectorizing the music and are the state transitions each sample? I think a detailed breakdown of your plugins behind the scenes mathematically would help every user. or just a mathematical background to your approach to applying kalman filters to music. perhaps how that makes these plugins different or better than other approaches. would be nice to have hours of examples instead of the seconds of audio you play in your videos. thanks for everything you do

    QUESTION: Hi I don't want to take time from Chris so please if someone can help me.
    I need to know if there is some kind of rack that can load Airwindows plugins in a certain order with a certain configuration, that we could give to the rack through some kind of xml file or similar?
    I would like to give some file with a list of plugins and configuration for each plugin, and have that rack of plugins working inside Reaper.
    Is this possible or doable? Does any rack exist that works like this? Does the Consolidated plugin by Paul of Surge works in any way like this or only load one plugin at a time?
    Thanks for your support on this. I'm trying to put out a list of templates made by people with plugins, configurations and people will be able to choose that and the rack would read the file or the text sent to the plugin or code, and load the plugins with the config given. Thanks for reading and for your help.
