      In 2024/5 it's 500k. I've been before many years ago and they used to feed freshly killed goats and chickens to the dragons (you paid extra) gruesome but you really saw the dragons lunge from lethargy to action. This new park looks very disappointing. I imagine the animals are over fed that's why they're not attacking tourists who are unbelievably close to lethal killers. A German tourist did disappear decades ago.

    Hi Jordan and Emily, it was interesting seeing the Komodo dragons so close up. Even though it wasn't exactly as you had hoped it still made for a good video. The Pink beach was something to see, very unusual.

    Do you think that booking a trip like this is best done when you get there? Or booked online before? And how did you decide which company to go with? Did it include snorkels etc? Trying to figure out our travel plans!! x

    • @JordanandEmily

      You can book online but you end up paying a bit more! You get a better price in person but you are also subject to availability! It’s a hard call 😆 we decided on ours because the guy was the least pushy and it was equal cheapest option, snorkels and lunch is included but don’t rely on the lunch haha, it wasn’t very good!

  • @crepecake104
    @crepecake104 Рік тому +2

    I agree about the Komodo Island. It would be soooo overpriced and I am not sure will pay that much lol. But I hope, because it’s too pricey, less people will come, then we’ll have more nature maintained. Sometimes, the nature here are kinda destroyed because our government still can’t provide the best management for too many tourists (not really the most sustainable management).
    Also, it’s hard for the Komodo to get big because it’s hard to get natural food around civilization. And their natural prey is also declining there. So they’re kinda small. And yes, while staying still, they don’t look scary at all hahaha
    Edit: Also, I don’t know what happened, but I thought they will actually explain about the Komodo tho. At least about their food and their cannibalism. Sorry for your experience and I realllly wish our government and people there will do better :”)

    • @JordanandEmily
      @JordanandEmily  Рік тому

      Agreed! I hope that's the theory behind any price increases, to help preserve the komdod habitat and not just for more more!

    How disappointing! I think you were right to feel that way. Famous nature sites can be that way. There's tricky balance between tourism and the natural state. I think I'll leave Komodo for BBC docs etc. The best manta place is off Bali (Penida) that I know of. You can just snorkel with massive ones, I saw six.

    • @tswunique

      The price of 3 million to go to Komodo Island has been cancelled. Paying taxes in my opinion is a natural thing for development in a country. What is bad in Indonesia is corruption, so that the taxes that should be for development are not evenly distributed and are not felt by the people.
      Don't blame the government in the Jokowi era just because of taxes. Because what makes it difficult for society is corrupt officials. Don't blame the government if your life is difficult, because only our personal lives determine it. Meanwhile, the government only helps lighten the burden by building facilities needed by the community.

    I respect your opinion, I have heard many other opinions from tourists on UA-cam videos.
    For me, the ticket price to see Komodo dragons in their natural habitat is currently very affordable. This is because the cost of conserving Komodo dragons there is not cheap. Conservation costs are not only for Komodo Island, but also several other islands inhabited by Komodo dragons.
    Moreover, Komodo dragons are ancient animals that are difficult to find and difficult to live on other continents. Only in the Komodo Islands can they live freely. In other countries, Komodo dragons can only live in zoos because their wild nature is not suitable.
    If you want cheaper tickets, I suggest you see the Komodo dragons at the zoo. But of course this experience will be very different from seeing dragons in a zoo or in the wild.
    In 2022 there was a policy proposal to increase ticket prices by around 3 million rupiah in 2023, but this was cancelled. Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno said ticket prices were still the same.
    Going to Komodo Island is basically like an ordinary animal viewing tour. But there are strict rules, they must be followed there, if you want to go for a walk alone, it can be dangerous for yourself. You can die or be maimed because the dragons can pounce on you. In the past, there were several cases of tourists being pounced on by Komodo dragons for violating the rules there. So that it is very detrimental to the tourists themselves and also the Indonesian government.
    Remember Komodo dragons are large animals, fast runners, venomous, can swim, and very dangerous. If you let your guard down a bit, you could be pounced on.
    If the information obtained is incomplete, or if you want to know other information that is not yet known, my advice is to ask the Komodo ranger directly.
    If you come to Indonesia, don't be shy or afraid to chat with the locals. Because if they can speak English, surely they will answer completely and coolly. But if they are not very good at English, at least they will still help you even with sign language or other instructions.
    Don't forget to make a thorough plan if you want to go on vacation. Find complete information about the places you will visit and how to get there. And what is mandatory is to have more money. So that your vacation can be comfortable and enjoyable.
    Happy holidays friends have a nice day.
