Marcus was a baller, did what ever was required. Played fullback and blocked, caught the ball out the backfield, best at goal line situations. An all round baller.
Something you probably didn’t know about Allen. Only player to win a national title, a Heisman, NFL Rookie of the year, Super Bowl, SuperBowl MVP, NFL MVP and also NFL Comeback player of the year. He’s truly an all time absolute great.
Marcus was so cool. He was so smooth. RB are soooooo under appreciated nowadays. They have so many different styles. Never seen a back with that body type to have as much success in short yardage situations as Marcus Allen. Just had a knack for getting that extra yard,& finding the endzone from inside the five. His name is often put on the back burner, but his numbers scream for top 10 consideration.
Allen did not possess outstanding speed or power, but he had good acceleration, patience for the line to create gaps, and had outstanding field vision and decision making skills.

I loved watching this guy run with the ball both in College and the Pros. Great moves and cutback running skills. So instinctive. Surprisingly tough and physical. Not really a big USC fan, but I enjoyed seeing him run as all the USC games were Televised on Tape delay back then on USA Network. Seeing him run for 200 and some yards against Oklahoma as a Senior in 1981 was amazing. 2, 343 yards rushing in 1981 was totally unheard of. I was happy he won the Heisman because honestly, I felt Herschal Walker was getting most of the publicity mainly because of his World Class Speed and Track accomplishments rather than his play on the field and was probably going to steal it. I'm not saying Allen was weak, he was possibly the best all around back to ever play the game. And while he may not have had the speed of a Chris Johnson or the power of Frank Gore, Allen could run, catch, block and pass on the option. While his isolated skills may not be among the elite running backs, his combined abilities and intelligence made Allen a HOF back. Remember that a whole is other than the sum of the parts.
