Documentaries like this are what attracts people to study more about our world. It's a shame that so-called documentaries no longer produce content as good as this. Keep up the good work man. You might as well pass the torch of knowledge to the younger generation 👍

      Completely agree.
Nat Geo and particularly the Discovery Channel make me switch off within about 30 secs.
Those 30 seconds usually consist of zooms and fast edits going past quicker than the human eye accompanied by royalty free music the tech found by searching “dramatic” and then a VERY LOUD narrator who sounds more like they should be hosting a game show asks a particularly asinine question.

@@rashoietolan3047 NAh, we need both, understanding our own planet but also what's around it (and here I am talking about actual science and not discovery channels "did hidden snake aliens living inside saturn astroproject the blueprints for the pyramids onto the moon 6 million years ago???" bullsh*t "science").
If you do understand our earth so well than you should also know that sadly it won't last forever and especially at the rate things are going, so we need to find a way to "lift the planets burden" a bit and one of the best ways to do that is to look outside of earth.

@@free4fire I volt for exploring the cosmos after we get our situation here figured out , perpetuating our species matters , yes, this is self evidently known …. But we can’t just turn our back on the earth like some child who is done playing with one toy and moving on to the next , no, not after all that the earth has done for us and all the pulchritude and fascination yet to be known in the oceans and caves , with our collective intelligence we can surely accomplish restoration and many other solutions to behold 🤝

Love that you’ve brought attention to these ecosystems. The deep sea is extremely fragile, unknown, and very much under threat. The only reason sea mounts haven’t been mowed down for their cobalt is because it’s currently technologically impossible. That’s not the case for the manganese nodules and methane seeps located in the abyssal plans and deeper... as a science communicator, you’ve done great. As someone who studies the ocean as my job, I genuinely enjoyed this and didn’t feel like it was too elementary or too complicated. And yes, the inclusion of Austin Wintry was a solid decision :).

Also, at 9:21 you can see a sea spider (pycnogonida), which freak me out because they have like no organs. They share a subphylum (this one being Chelicerata) with Meristomata (horseshoe crabs) and arachnids (spiders, scorpions, and ticks). This particular sea spider is an example of deep sea gigantism, following Bergmann’s Rule, which basically states that you tend to get bigger the colder of an environment you’re in.
That was totally unprompted, I hope you enjoyed my little spiel. I love invertebrates lol.

I can't describe how lucky I am to have found your channel. I've fallen in love with your content - your videos are far more than a slideshow of pictures; your voice is hypnotizing like the songs of sirens, and boy do you have a way of words. All that relaxes me like nothing else. Thank you!

I'll gladly put up with ads for your content. Everything is perfect. I agree that it was documentaries and shows that used to be like this that made me want me to become a biologist (still interested but now anthropology bound because I greatly enjoy that (also and unfortunately, I've never been very good at chemistry or math) lol). Anyway, the production is great. I love the details of the video from the footage, narration, sounds, like that of the text, the text itself, easy to understand definitions, music choice and alternatively, the absence of annoying, overbearing, unfitting or distracting music or pop-ups in which I can't focus on what I'm seeing. I don't know, I could go on! I've had to edit this a couple times just to add in all the things I appreciate lol. I really really like these videos. It's also very calming and makes me happy if I'm down in the dumps. Thank you for letting me enjoy biology in this way and keeping my love for it going. Thank you. 🙂
