After accepting the mask, there's blood on the table, implying that the Host kills the player and (after seeing what happens when you reject the deal) possesses the body.
I think you can kinda. I prototyped this game using a deck of bicycle cards. *Black = Utility *Red (Odd number) = Redraw *Red (Even number) = Nothing *Joker = Tower Poker chips represented the utilities. Dice roll to determine the random utility. Tho dealing a 7x7 array of cards takes a hot sec.
My guess is that the missing 13th card was the one you extinguished at 27:22. Although redrawing the card also brings up the question of what's in the redraw pile.
i think the game must keep count of how many of each type of card are left, and only set each position to a specific type when either it's revealed with the spyglass or it's revealed altogether? and then when a card is reset it's just not one of the three types of cards that the revealed cards are anymore
The missing flip card in the end is because you used the fire extinguisher on that card at the side of your watchtower earlier. (that one was a flip card, then you extinguished it, and it became a normal card)
21:47 Love the detail of how the environment is burning according to the cards flipped during the game, and makes sense why the “Host” dissipates in the ending where we lose the game and deny the firemask. Considering how the environment burns around us, we’re literally playing the game in the “irl” version of our fire tower from the board, dude probably just peaces out to his own tower since it’s the only thing not on fire at the end. 😂
This game actually reminds me of a board game I saw someone show off when I was browsing YT shorts. I forgot what it was but it was definitely very similar in a few aspects. Also I absolutely love the animations and design of the game, especially enjoy how they just straight up use the Fire Extinguisher as a grenade lmao.
I am loving the card/board game where death happens if you lose trend, and one day a developer will include cards with a preorder or just make them and I will gladly play.
I really like the detail in which when you start the game, a fire starts in the background and spreads more and more which each card flip. Makes it more immersive. And I like how smart the AI is, almost feels like you're playing against an actual person.
I think if the crowbar couldn't be used immediately then it could introduce some strategy without relying on RNG. If your opponent gets a crowbar, you're incentivized to use your best item to make sure they don't get it. Kinda like Mario Party's plunder chest.
Every time I see a game obviously inspired by Inscryption a part of me is super happy, and the other (insane) part of me is incensed because I don’t think any other game can compare lol, this was still a super fun watch though
Yes! I really regret not just turning manly's video off and buying the game myself. The dev did SUCH an amazing job with inscryption, so many twists! I hope people continue to find it and love it. I bring it up every chance I get because it really stood out to me in all the games that have come out in the last so many years. Inscryption and Who's Lila.
This game reminds me of a board game me and my friend made when we were camping. We called it Minotaur It was a card game that used deck of playing cards and a penny or something to represent the Minotaur. I can’t remember the exact setup of the cards, but it passed the time when it was raining or got bored.
I could of sworn there was an actual board game coming out that was this exact idea. Think it was called Fire Tower, it's about keeping your fire tower alive while a spin thing determines the direction of the wind and where the fire goes.
What an interesting game! Clearly inspired by buckshot roulette but the vibe of the game is very different. Slow build up to a panicked conclusion. I like the firefighter theming, and you could totally add more cards and items to mix the game up!
They did a really good job of capturing a similar feelings to the differences in animations between you and the dealer in buckshot roulette. Like the pyromaniac's items just appearing in his locker while you have to grab yours and put them in.
I think I figured out the card counting issue in the last game. During the tutorial, the host states that we are playing with a 52 card deck but the field only has 49 cards (7 across time 7 down equals 49). The number of “special cards” seems to be random each game so we’ll stick with the last game of 22 items and 13 redraws. 52-22-13 gives us 17 cards left. We know two of them are towers so we are left with 15 normal fire cards. The tower cards are always on the field leaving 47 slots. 22+13+15= 50 so there will always be three cards not on the field at any given time. In conclusion, the last redraw was among one of the three cards not on the field because the field can only hold 49 of the 52 cards. Just like the three… missing… normal fires… and the… extra item card… in play… in the last… game… Damn it!
Humorously enough, there’s an actual tabletop board game that involves using the spread of a forest fire to eliminate the other players. It works a bit differently in terms of how the fire spreads and how items are collected. It’s called Fire Tower. Though I'd love to see Arsonate as a real card game some time. >:)
I feel like it's a flaw that you can't choose when to end your turn. If you get an item your turn immediately ends, so you can't use it. However, if the host gets an item they can use it immediately.
i have the feeling he puts like a plastic cup un his mouth whenever he talks for the guy, to make it sound like the gas mask he´s wearing, and i love it
The transitions when using items are really cool in how they are abrupt. I did get a little dizzy/nauseous from all the camera swinging around quickly, I think some of those should've either been replaced with straight cuts or by moving things around in the physical space to make them less swingy. Pretty cool game.
I wonder how much the game would be enhanced if there were "biased cards." The back of a biased card could be different to make it something you can strategize around. Normal Cards: 33% - Repeat 33% - Neutral 33% - Utility While a biased card could be uneven: 25% - Repeat 25% - Neutral 50% - Utility
The game has a cool and original concept, but the gameplay I feel could use a lot of work. It's heavily RNG based, much more than buckshot roulette, and the crowbar chain-steal is pretty silly as a mechanic of the game. Either get rid of it or make it so you can't steal other crowbars. If the gameplay was more complex and skill-based I feel like this could be a great game
Just played it, and they really gotta do something about that crowbar, it's way too damn overpowered whenever the dealer has it. It's just so damn annoying having him steal your shit as SOON as you have something decent for once, or even just whenever he gets one so you're all the worse and you can't do anything about it. And that strat doesn't even work the other way: if you try to save a crowbar, he'll just steal it away as soon as he can. It got so bad one game I threw away anything half decent I got cause I didn't want him to steal it immediately in his next turn and make my life all the worse. Make it so you can't steal other crowbars (as Buckshot Roulette already does) at the very least, and maybe make it like the other utility where you have to store it first before you can use it. Also they really gotta up the amount of utility you can get, maybe add in cards that give out double or something, because as it stands half the util is kind of useless at the moment and the entire game is pretty much you relying purely purely on luck (and the dealer getting more unlucky than you), and (quite literally) putting out fires with whatever you can get a hold of as you try to survive as long as you can. There's barely any strategy you can have in the game to get you on top: any decent utility is stolen by the dealer as soon as he can, and half the items are practically useless without one another: The spyglass's only use at the moment is making sure you don't accidentally end up revealing a repeat card and that's about it. Maybe you could do some cool strats with the axe or the gas can, but again there's rarely a moment you get in a single turn so it's basically useless. Little better than picking a random card by chance. The axe is purely a game of chance hoping you null a repeat card and not a util card. Maybe if it could be used on the opponent side as a way to damage them without having any benefit or punishment (so basically a slightly better gas can), might make it a little more useful on its own without the spyglass strat. The gas can is fine enough as it is. Maybe make it so you can only use it on the opponent's side since that's literally the only reason you would use that item. Maybe make it so you can't burn the cards immediately next to the watchtower if you're gonna make utility more common, but I'm not so sure how much that would impact the game.
I think restricting the gas can would make the opponent less likely to win when it's already ahead, which could be a welcome change. It would also differentiate the tower-adjacent tiles, which aren't actually mechanically different in any way right now. I think the more interesting changes are the ones that makes there be more chances for you to have multiple items at once to combo with. There seems to be little reason to hold on to items for particularly long (like buckshot roulette). The unstealable crowbar change would help, but having the possibility to get multiple items per turn or balancing items to make them worth holding on to would also be interesting. Right now the game seems a bit shallow because the optimal course of action seems to be a bit too obvious most of the time, but I haven't actually played it. (It does look fun, though)

This is one of those games i would love to bring to a board games night or something. Yea its mainly luck, but i just love the whole concept
I think you can kinda.
I prototyped this game using a deck of bicycle cards.
*Black = Utility
*Red (Odd number) = Redraw
*Red (Even number) = Nothing
*Joker = Tower
Poker chips represented the utilities.
Dice roll to determine the random utility.
Tho dealing a 7x7 array of cards takes a hot sec.
@@_nashset Would be cool to print out the cards for my own use
I think there actually is a board game with a very similar premise
Fire Tower
My guess is that the missing 13th card was the one you extinguished at 27:22. Although redrawing the card also brings up the question of what's in the redraw pile.
i think the game must keep count of how many of each type of card are left, and only set each position to a specific type when either it's revealed with the spyglass or it's revealed altogether? and then when a card is reset it's just not one of the three types of cards that the revealed cards are anymore
The missing flip card in the end is because you used the fire extinguisher on that card at the side of your watchtower earlier. (that one was a flip card, then you extinguished it, and it became a normal card)
game about arson let’s GOOOOOO
21:47 Love the detail of how the environment is burning according to the cards flipped during the game, and makes sense why the “Host” dissipates in the ending where we lose the game and deny the firemask. Considering how the environment burns around us, we’re literally playing the game in the “irl” version of our fire tower from the board, dude probably just peaces out to his own tower since it’s the only thing not on fire at the end. 😂
Don't forget to swap controller ports with player 2. He can read minds!
"AH... I CAN SEE INTO YOUR MIND..."
"SO, YOU'RE INTERESTED IN A FORD FUSION TITANIUM?"
@_nashset 🤣 What do you think now!? Can you feel my power now!?
The demonstration is over!!
Accept the mask, put the deal on.
The Firewatch board game. It exist a long time ago, this is just the playable digitally version kind of like Monopoly for PC
I am loving the card/board game where death happens if you lose trend, and one day a developer will include cards with a preorder or just make them and I will gladly play.
To those who didn't know, if you win, lose but accept or decine the deal, the main menu change
I love how you play the characters as you see them in each video. It's pretty awesome!
I love how the dev is in the comments replying to people
Every time I see a game obviously inspired by Inscryption a part of me is super happy, and the other (insane) part of me is incensed because I don’t think any other game can compare lol, this was still a super fun watch though
@@PanicLedisko Same here! It’s such a unique experience and you can just tell it was made with love. Who’s Lila was incredible too!
This game reminds me of a board game me and my friend made when we were camping. We called it Minotaur It was a card game that used deck of playing cards and a penny or something to represent the Minotaur. I can’t remember the exact setup of the cards, but it passed the time when it was raining or got bored.
I actually like the fact that the ai is way moe competent in this game!
I could of sworn there was an actual board game coming out that was this exact idea. Think it was called Fire Tower, it's about keeping your fire tower alive while a spin thing determines the direction of the wind and where the fire goes.
33:00 the card to the right of your tower was a flip card that got nullified
What an interesting game! Clearly inspired by buckshot roulette but the vibe of the game is very different. Slow build up to a panicked conclusion. I like the firefighter theming, and you could totally add more cards and items to mix the game up!
Gets a key at the end, discards it - Gigachad.
This is clearly inspired by Buckshot Roulette, nice spin on the genre and I actually hope to see more based on this concept.
Ah yes, the forbidden yugioh
The shadow realm is a bit hotter than I expected.
Yugioh Season 0 vibes
My side of the field has no pathetic cards, Kaiba!
Exsodia oblitorate!
Exactly what I thought
I love how even the player throws items to use them
Manly not skipping the tutorial. This is a first.
They did a really good job of capturing a similar feelings to the differences in animations between you and the dealer in buckshot roulette. Like the pyromaniac's items just appearing in his locker while you have to grab yours and put them in.
This actually seems like a fun card game, outside of the horror stuff
Its pretty similar to Firewatch, the card game
Fire Tower
Just like the three… missing… normal fires… and the… extra item card… in play… in the last… game…
Damn it!
Psychomantis got tired of reading your memory card, changed his career into an arsonist.
Pyro's been playing too much Inscryption
I think once a flip or item card is flipped and it is extinguished, it counts towards the total. You had extinguished one of the flip cards.
manly counting to 12 multple times but forgoy he used an item and changed a flip card to a safe card so it would have been 13.
I feel like it's a flaw that you can't choose when to end your turn. If you get an item your turn immediately ends, so you can't use it. However, if the host gets an item they can use it immediately.
We just gonna ignore the fact that Manly just said "accept the mask, put the deal on" 😂 gotta love em
the fire extinguisher randomizes the cart its used on, so it can change the number of cards on the field
I really like the background music, it definitely fits the thriller tone.
It's cool to see more games of the "play a game with Really Scary Guy™" variety, they've always been really cool in the past and continue to be
That felt really tense for a card game... probably something to do with the fire
Oh the visual mods for the arsonist is gonna sick
i have the feeling he puts like a plastic cup un his mouth whenever he talks for the guy, to make it sound like the gas mask he´s wearing, and i love it
The way the arsonist's move is so dramatic,
*I love it*
Yo this a game in real life its called firewatch and plays like this game with some differences of course manly the dying part if you lose😅
The transitions when using items are really cool in how they are abrupt. I did get a little dizzy/nauseous from all the camera swinging around quickly, I think some of those should've either been replaced with straight cuts or by moving things around in the physical space to make them less swingy. Pretty cool game.
That arsonist is kinda fine
@@Satotz_Slayz HUH?
I'm not hearing you out
You mean fire?
Agreed.
bro?
At the end Manly, you didn't count wrong. one of the 13 flip cards had been removed by a fire extinguisher early in the game.
Meet the Pyro!
There’s something funny about how dramatic the guy throws things at the table lol
Thank you mr manly, hope you got better from your allergies
I wonder how much the game would be enhanced if there were "biased cards." The back of a biased card could be different to make it something you can strategize around.
Normal Cards:
33% - Repeat
33% - Neutral
33% - Utility
While a biased card could be uneven:
25% - Repeat
25% - Neutral
50% - Utility
The game has a cool and original concept, but the gameplay I feel could use a lot of work. It's heavily RNG based, much more than buckshot roulette, and the crowbar chain-steal is pretty silly as a mechanic of the game. Either get rid of it or make it so you can't steal other crowbars. If the gameplay was more complex and skill-based I feel like this could be a great game
Inscription + buckshot roulette at the firewatch tower with tf2 pyro as the antagonist
There's barely any strategy you can have in the game to get you on top: any decent utility is stolen by the dealer as soon as he can, and half the items are practically useless without one another:
The spyglass's only use at the moment is making sure you don't accidentally end up revealing a repeat card and that's about it.
I'm all for more horror board game video games. This was really cool, I'm curious how they'll expand on it for the full version.
this is like the old board game forest fire. Just digital, and cards, and an arsonist. nothing like the board game actually
4:32 This has same vibes as "the loathing whispers" from darkest dungeon 2
you already flip the redraw card, extinguish it then draw it again and become a neutral card so it is 13
It could just be that I’m really bad at strategy and card games but I’m always impressed with manly’s ability to think through these crazy games
I hope your hayfever is okay manly
Arsonist: Hey dont forget the tutorial.
Manlybadasshero: Oops too late
So thats what pyro is doing in their free time
You have already seen: Medic gaming.
Now get ready for: PYRO GAMING
Never in my life I'd think Manly playing cards against Pyro TF2 but here we are.
If this is a start of a new genre inspired by Inscryption and Buckshot Roulette, I’m all for it!
these are the kind of games I want to know the lore of. (as well as being kinda fun)
I immediately thought Buckshot Roulette. I thought this was the same dev, even the motions and camera controls are very similar.
Fun fact: This game inspired by a board game called Fire towers.
17:55 “Accept the mask, put the deal on” 😂
Ok, i know this is scary but am i the only one who's impressed the the host's card shuffling skills
I was half-waiting for Manly to do the TF2 pyro voice.
"You're gonna burn, alright" the game
"Okay, you can use my special game cards, but be careful not to bend them. Not many decks were printed and they're really rare." ... 7:58
22 utils and 13 rewinds I think he said.
Manly not realizing he said 12 reflips and not 13
