You definitely put a spike in Umbro's stock after this 😂 because that ball being madder than the Jabulani is a wild selling point. I rarely kick ball, but for less than £10, I might as well cop for future 👀
Kieran, i love you videos, there is a football in the USA that ive been using, and it flies a lot like the Jabulai, its called the Lotto SB300, it even looks like the Supernova ball
Kieran, if you're interested in more cheap "overpowered" products from Kipsta (decathlon) I'd recommend 2 balls, F550 and F900 (takedown models of the French league ball). Both cost under 50£, they have large pretty smooth panels and are thermaly bonded, you can get really insane knuckleballs with them. And then they recently released a laceless boot, a "PRO" model, I don't remember the name but they cost around 80£ I really enjoy when you make videos like this and would really appreciate if you actually made a video on what I recommended, keep up the content 😄
Great video as always! I'm still left wondering what makes the ball act like that. It's not the weight, so clearly something else about the design causes such different behavior. Difference in materials? in stitching patterns? would be an awesome follow up vid..
I honestly have no idea, i will have to look into it for sure! i'm not sure if 4 grams difference in weight is enough to make it knuckle that much more
It's not the weight exactly, although that does sometimes affect the drag on the ball, but with 4 grams of difference, it's negligible. It's more about the grooves and shape of the grooves that allow the air to travel over the ball and create drag. Turbulent flow vs laminar flow and how when the ball has "no spin," they air flow over the ball and grooves occurs in an erratic manner to make the ball swerve. This ball (which I actually have), it is a smooth surface with small grooves, so at 50 mph (approximately) it will cause turbulent air flow around the ball, changing the pressure in the air so that the ball moves erratically. It will only occur at a point of peak speed. A normal 32 panel ball will have this turbulent air flow at 30 mph, but that's too slow for most people who kick the ball as a ball will typically travel at 40 to 50 mph when kicked. A 32 panel ball can still knuckle but it's much more difficult and won't be as "extreme." The other ball that's good for this is another English football. It's the Mitre Delta ball, the one that Guardiola hates with a passion. It was used in the Carabao cup awhile back, and that ball can knuckle quite a bit as well. This ball might be better at it, however.
its mainly to do with the grip, i watched some video about the jabulani, and apparently the reason its so weird and unpredictable, was because of how round it was, it had no grip and was so round that the way it flew was so unpredictable, i wouldn't be able to explain it but i bet someone a bit more knowledgeable that me would know.
I’m pretty sure the Jabulani was so insane due to its almost perfect roundness, and the fact the panels were glued on. I don’t know about this ball though
@KieranBrown In my own experience, the factor that affects the knuckling effect is primarily the imperfection of the ball, with the most significant factor being its roundness. Additionally, the non-symmetry of the ball's surface condition plays a crucial role. It's worth noting that cheaper balls, especially unbranded or counterfeit ones, tend to exhibit more pronounced knuckling behavior.
It seems that the Umbro ball is more suited to a players who isn’t a pro at doing the knuckle ball shot but the one who is struggle with it as we seen in the video 💯
About boots i dont know i tested several football boots but never something came close to durability to my adidas predators ._. but sadly they stopped producing the lines i used. Havent tried new ones because i have enough but the cheap ones sucked quite quickly, same with footballs, but i mean if it is for 8€ it is really cheap
in 2021 - 2022 i use that boots when i play for my old team Siracusa A.S.D. football (im talking about decthlon cleats was 50 euros my one boots KTS was Black Style colour)
The way it wiggles about in the air is madd! Need to try this out 🚀🔥🔥🔥
