Minute 7:55, the woman in the yellow fringe shirt is my grandmother, Loretha May. 24 year ago, she was killed in a drunk driving accident. I was 6 months old. I never got the chance to know her. This video gives me a glimpse of her spunky spirit everyone has always told me about. To whoever got that clip of her, thank you so much. It’s cherished more than you know.
God does this bring back memories! I was at the first Hillbilly day's in 1976 with my dad and i will never forget it along with the many others i attended. I know Red & Joe they both could dance their boots off! thanks for sharing this :)
I loved seeing this video because my dad made the video in two different spots. He was dancing close to the end in the adult dance contest and then they mentioned him dancing on his rollerskates. He sure loved this festival.
My little brother Wayne Elswick and uncle Red was dancing side by side. My little brother is gone now and this was a very precious memory to be able to see.
Hello Tina. Sorry for the delay on the reply. I posted this video for my father - he has attended Hillbilly Days many times and has hours and hours of video. If you're interested in reaching out to him send your email address to studster@gmail.com and I will share my father's email address with you. Thank you, your brother is in our prayers. ~john
Do you have anymore videos from the 90s? My papaw, Frank Hammond, starts singing at 7:09 ❤ I haven't heard his voice in so long, so it was so emotional. And my Mamaw June is in this video too 😂
How is the parking during the Hillbilly Days? I was told that it is a disaster - no street parking, ONLY paid parking, and 'you should park at the High School and take the shuttle'. But they don't tell you when the shuttle starts running and when it stops running, and how often it runs. Someone told me "if you take the shuttle, you need to walk 1/2 mile to get to the event". No Uber, no Lyft, no taxi service. This is what they told me...anyone know different?
