Hey quick update: my laptop done broke and I can't edit videos. Working full-time for a bit to get a new one but it might be awhile between videos. Be kind to each other, see you soon.
Man I LOVE RetroFuturism! Especially single wheel/tread vehicles. The first time I saw single wheeled tanks was from the Justice League animated series. “The Savage Time” episode had these massive red spike wheel tanks the nazi’s drove they were so cool! Really wish Retrofuturism was more common in model kits.
This is awesome!! I grew up going to Disneyland and The home of the Future was always an attraction that captured my imagination. You captured this theme amazingly and it's a great spin on the game 👍
Excellent Tonk. Super well executed. I love the retro-future style. I’m currently working on something similar (sphere based vehicle), but as a submarine for Swill. I’m looking forward to what you do next. Keep up the solid work!
@@ConjuredCraft I just finished it. You can see it posted on the T28 subreddit as “Thumpelstiltskin’s Salvage Service Swillmersible.” Linking it doesn’t seem to work. I don’t have your skill, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
The tank feels like a blend of interwar tanks, and proposed Nuclear/Lunar Warfare tanks and weapons from the 50s and 60s I love it so much! (5:51 Kinda Sci Fi but I’m not really sure. They are: SCP, Mystery Flesh Pit: National Park, D.O.R.F. RTS, All Eyes Turned Skywards, & C&C)
To me it also evokes some of the sci fi designs from Wallace & Gromit like the spaceship, which is very fun. I also appreciated the "queer inventor produces vehicle" from the magazine cover, that got a good laugh out of me. Great work, as always
Tanks used to be riveted to high hell, but when they were they are also a lot more rounded off and bubbly looking. Modern tanks are angular and welded. This isn't do to physics but rather do to to the armor material that's being used. Tanks before the late 70's were largely round to increase the amount of armor a round had to punch through by sloping it. They used a type of steel that was called Cast Homogeneous Armor (CHA) steel that could be basically poured into a mold and cast into a shape while still retaining a lot of strength. This made it fairly cheap to make very rounded turrets out of a good quality steel. The problem was that anti-tank weapons were getting powerful enough that CHA couldn't compete without making the tank to heavy to be practical. So tanks started to use use stronger steels composited with other materials. This means the shift went from CHA steel to RHA steel or Rolled Homogeneous Armor. RHA comes in plates which are face hardened for greater resistance to penetration, the problem is that you can't cast it so you need to weld the plates together to make the armor, which is why modern tanks look like they were designed to run as low poly PS1 models. Now of course modern armor is far more complex then just steel plates buuuut that's a whole other topic but if you were to cut a section of tank armor in half, it's not going to look like what most people probably think the inside of armor should look like.
History is strange and there is a few examples of tanks like this, like the kugelpanzer. When ever you do another tank video I think it would be cool to do screw tracks. Good luck finding bits

A single track on a spherical body is peak TONK.
Thank you for recognising my genius 🧠
"i can't hide my work under copious layers of rust" DAAAMN throwing shade
The only thing I'm throwing is plastic dust from sanding 🙅
Yeah I felt attacked by that hahaha
That's really cool
Cheers!
Oh, damn, that tofu container thing is actually genius.
Save your trash!

WHAT A LOVELY DAY!
What a great use of a guitar string! You definitely nailed the retro future aesthetic 👍
Much appreciated! I'm very lucky to have a partner who saves me random junk like they're old guitar strings 😁
I absolutely love how you did the windshield and barrel. Genius. Very cool final product, the tomato sphonk.
Love my fruit tonk 🍅
Damn, brat summer, sci-fi summer and I'm freezing down here, so unfair lol
To be fair the sun immediately left from England after two days 😭
Love this so much! 100% captured the vibe, epic build! 🙌🙌🙌

@@ConjuredCraft I really appreciate that. Thank you 🙏
Glad this video showed up on my feed, you deserve far more views. Excuse me while I blast this to all my hobby friends.
Awesome work, absolutely love it. Those retro-futurist vibes are spot on, nice display too.
Glad you like it!
Nice work as always 👍👍

It's an epic tonk Terran. I think it's my favorite one on UA-cam. 👏
Mine too!
Love this little Tonk! For sure one of the best ones I've seen made. Good job :)
@ArdenMakesThings It's certainly unique, thank you! 😁
Beautiful stuff!!!
Thank you for inspiring me!
I love the whole look of the tonk and the box!
Just a bit different 😁
Delightful! I love the idea of the Sphonk -- this could bring me back into the hobby.
Sphonk It up!
Really lovely tonk, big fan of retro futurism and you nailed it
Thank you!
Really love the tonk and the unique display 😊😊😊
What a characterful little tonk

Had to sneak a little something different into the display 😆
Awesome, very nice!
Thank you!
Is Sphonk some kind of slur?😅
Or was it changed for search engine optimization?
It's a spherical tonk... Sphonk...
love seeing the super glue covered fingers. a familiar look.....
Its more honest this way!
Yes Tonks yes!!

Awesome tank, it looks a bit smug. Like it’s unimpressed with me
It's incredibly unimpressed with most things.
If your sphonk does want to see some action just let me know! The boot leather tonk is always ready to roll!
@@theramsden8873 We'll make it happen!
Oh, I have the exact same sphere/dinosaur kit! But now I'll need to make my own thing, hmmm
Another idea I had for the sphere is a little servitor or droid build. You could also use each half of the sphere to make some sci-fi terrain!
At 1:53 the framing had me thinking you were cutting off a finger for a moment there
Not yet!

The German army made a sphere tanket in ww2
Yes the one Nazi ball tank. Not much of a success story there.
